How could Reform form a government when they are such an absolute shitshow?

noblegiraffe · 05/07/2025 14:00

James McMurdock (the Reform MP who beat up his girlfriend) has just removed the whip from himself.

Rupert Lowe got kicked out (presumably for being named by Elon Musk as a better potential leader than Farage).

Zia Yusuf, the chairman resigned saying it was a waste of time, and then immediately unresigned.

And yet the polls suggest that they may win the next General Election, with a majority of MPs. What is the path to victory there?

I think the fact that Reform doesn’t support / want to save the NHS is why they won’t win the vote. Even though there is no inspiring competition and it would be a relief to have a PM with a jovial energy and who is pro Britain.

Are we talking about Farage here? The bloke who tried to get but was refused German citizenship, got it for his kids after Brexit, and pays his taxes in Belgium and not the UK? That pro Britain guy? But hooray he's jovial! Thank god for that!

BangersAndGnash · 06/07/2025 12:26

When has a shit show or an obvious shit show-to-be ever deterred many of our illustrious electorate?

taxguru · 06/07/2025 12:26

PandoraSocks · 05/07/2025 14:04

A whip has to remove the whip from himself.

Hilarious.

Reform will completely fall apart long before 2029.

Edited

Trouble is that both Labour and Conservatives will also probably fall apart before 2029!

IF libdems had a decent leader, they could really capitalise on how crap all the other parties are at the moment, but sadly, they don't, so will remain in the political wilderness.

Whats an undesirable?
If you mean immigrants who commit serious crimes being deported then I can see people supporting that. Imagine:
A 19 year old who violently beats his girlfriend in front of witnesses but on conviction is only given a few weeks detention in a young offenders institution (despite being over 18). On being released he lies about his previous convictions. Should an immigrant like that be deported? What if it was a British citizen and reform MP? In That case Reform didn't see fit to kick him out of their own party. (He has now resigned because it seems he also embezelled 70,000 pounds from the government). But the DV was youthful indiscretion.
We already have procedures in place to remove foreign criminals. Whereas reform can't even be bothered to remove criminals from their own party. So they can't legislate on removing residency from others without looking like 2 faced hypocrites.
Also is Andrew Tate an undesirable? He was born overseas but he can stay because he is "an important role model for young men"

Don't all parties support the deportation of non-citizens who commit crimes? In fact, it already forms part of British law under the UK Borders Act 2007.

Ergo, voting for Reform on the basis of "removing undesirables" is a nonsensical position. (Edited for clarity)

Yes!
And they are removed as a matter of routine on serving their prison sentence. At least in a situation I was involved in this happened.
That's why I don't understand what the poster meant by "undesirables". Some people will hear that and think it means criminals (I know someone who was furious that they don't deport criminals even though they do). But if it doesn't mean that (because it already happens) then who do these people mean?

If we have a Reform government and lose the NHS, ok…what will we gain? Can they remove the undesirables? Are we going to see our version of Alligator Alcatraz?

Andrea Jenkyns has been talking about immigrant camps

Lowe promotes mass deportations, he will probably need ICE like thugs to assist him

” these people”? Who are they? Are they the worthless ones you should dismiss? Do we protect stupidity we fear is violent and attack stupidity we know won’t stab us?

Rupert Lowe is.

And he is back by Susan Hall, Tory councillor and former London Mayor candidate

Don't apologise for commenting, it's how NF works. He paints that jolly bloke, Union Jack waving, 'pints with Nige' persona on and it's easy to get sucked in. It's how populist politics operates. Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes. Empower yourself and look beyond his media face. Cast your vote if you still like what you see, as is your right, but it is really important to understand who you are voting for and what it actually means for you and the people around you.

In that case "these people" refers to the people that are talking about undesirables. It wasn't meant as a pejorative though I'm sorry if it came accross like that. I initially @ you and asked who you meant. But thought that seemed interrogatory so changed the phrasing. But I would be interested in who you mean when you say undesirables. Because to me it could mean:

  • non UK citizens who commit serious crimes (we already deport them)

-.UK citizens who commit serious crimes. We are stuck with them alas

  • non UK citizens accused but not convicted of serious crimes (slippery slope)
  • all immigrants potentially?
  • all immigrants except the ones willing to sleep with Nigel Farage and the rest of reform.

What it means matters because otherwise people will exploit it. Some people voted for Trump because they thought undesirables meant people who committed serious crimes only to see their own family members arrested when applying for their green card.

Rupert Lowe isn't Reform anymore, and I don't think he'll be allowed back in after all his bitching about how Farage runs Reform like a cult and doesn't allow any discussion or dissent.

Bitching that was quite illuminating, really.

Ok, so in this case undesirables includes legal migrants. How would that work? Someone legally living, working and possibly even raising a family in this country who has done everything they were asked to do is forcibly removed? Would that also apply to people who immigrate and then get UK citizenship? Nigels girlfriend if he tires of her?

Namitynamename · 06/07/2025 16:25

Or.if he doesn't tire of her but Lowe thinks she is not good enough to stay.

Considering last election they had to generate AI candidates...I wouldn't think so.

Deeply depressing to drive by a big sign claiming “Britain needs Reform” as I approached my current home town on the motorway yesterday. Even more depressing that another nearby town is the first town in the UK to have a “Reform” pub.

Though cheered me up considerably to read this quote from the Landlord in the press (The London Economic),

“The owner of Britain’s first Reform pub has said he regrets Brexit and would ‘probably have voted Remain’ if he’d know everything about leaving the EU.
The Talbot in Blackpool made headlines earlier this year when it rebranded itself as the country’s first pub devoted to Nigel Farage’s party.”

Hopefully, more and more Reform voters will reach the same conclusion as they observe the ineptitude of Reform councillors and continue to suffer from the adverse effects of Brexit.

MyNameIsX · 07/07/2025 09:27

PandoraSocks · 05/07/2025 15:16

Hmm.

If there is any danger of Reform winning in 2029, there will be a lot of tactical voting going on to keep them out.

I seriously doubt the electorate will give Labour a second term - they will be banished to the wilderness for a latest another 14 years.

Let’s see what fuck ups they manage this week.

I suppose they would consider the cabinet not having a self-pitying sob-fest, to be a victory.

What an utter shower of shit these people are - this morning, reportedly going after the EHCP, as well as contending with potential NHS strikes.

Meanwhile that old fossil Kinnock has evidently stuck his nose in where it doesn’t belong - the utter hypocrite.

LABOUR IS NOT WORKING.

Bridport · 07/07/2025 09:44

The Reform Pub surely has to put off as many people as it attracts.

Would he call it The Brexit Party pub given that's what Reform was before the name change?

It looks like James McMurdock has permanently resigned from Reform because he's got caught doing fraud. Crazy that people think that this party could be anything but a chaotic mess. Like Liz Truss levels of mad.

Jovial. Bloody hell. Boris Johnson was jovial too, wasn't he? Do people just love being lied to and laughed at?

People have a lower bar for PM than they'd have for someone coming into their own workplace!
