Supermarkets encouraging waste/obesity?

I wanted a coffee and a pastry this morning.

I went in Co-op to get them.

It was cheaper to get a coffee, pastry and sandwich than it was to just get a coffee and pastry, due to the meal deal offer.

£4.35 for 2 items
£3.50 for 3 items.

I know this isn't just a Co-op issue.
I love a good deal.
But it's frustrating that supermarkets encourage wasteful consumerism in this way.

Even if buying more meant paying less?

I think that's the temptation, of course. So either - yes, do that, or save one item or give it away? If the issue is waste, one of those options. If the issue is litter, find a bin.

See I disagree. Individually price the food up. And let people choose what to buy. Don’t encourage over buying.

when I went to America I was astounded by their food portions. And that surely encourages waste and obesity. As said up thread retailers do this for a reason. They research what works to e courage consumers to buy more.

This thread is hilarious.

I cannot believe the amount of people who seem to want to pay more money for items, or who are taking umbridge at my desire for a breakfast pastry and coffee, or for not wanting to carry a pasta bowl round for the next 2 days.

MN batshittery at its finest!
