Repulsive sick-making figure of speech (TW contains mention of said figure of speech)

The most horrible expression I ever see on MN is currently staining my eyes in Active Conversations.

"It boils my piss."

Every time I read this, I can taste the stinking caustic ammonia vapours of boiling urine on my tongue and in the back of my throat.

I can see the saucepan boiling away on my hob, pale yellow, a witches' cauldron.

<vom> <vom> <vom> <vom>

Stop it. Please, please.

I think it means don’t deride something that someone else likes or enjoys.

Ah ha, thank you! Smile

I am the same! Recently hearing a lot of the expression 'wetting his dick'. It makes me want to crawl out of my skin, and I cant get the image out of my head! I literally see it...its horrific.

That is nasty isn't it? Wetting his dick... URGH! Especially when you realise what it means!

I really don't know why swearing has become so acceptable in society these days. It's very un-couth and shows a lack of intelligence - intelligent people can articulate themselves without resorting to foul language. It's sad.

Or a small hotel room one?

😁

What’s the point of a hotel kettle?

It boils my piss

I think some people visualise words more than others.

Definitely. When I read or hear the word cocklodger - I picture a penis on a sofa. It has arms with a beer in one hand and tv remote in the other. Resting each arm on a bollock. Leaning back looking like a lazy useless bloated penis.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I agree with you , I think of mega internal rage to boiling point.

Also , 👋 you know me from the Guinea pig days. I was Fortiedwithtea but got locked out my account and now I’m whatever this is ⬆️ it’s not a name I can easily remember but will have to do.

Phrase I can not stand is Baby Girl when people mean their daughter. But thats a phrase I hear in real life not on Mumsnet

Well, hello @BeMintFatball

I do sometimes lurk on the SmallPets and days like now I remember fretting about keeping the pigs cool enough , making sure they had grass not a barren lawn and keep the foxes away . I miss the little ratbags at times .
We have two black cats now ( since 2019 ) DH was yearning for felines again after the last piggie went to The Bridge .

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 28/06/2025 09:23

@Absentmindedsmile that made me laugh 😂 but do you actually visualise words/phrases in that much detail? I find it interesting that some people do and others just don't have that kind of mind.

ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop · 28/06/2025 10:07

I hate "I love the bones of him" which I see on here sometimes. It makes me visualise someone weeping over a pile of bloodied bones for some reason. Also the "don't yuk my yum" one that someone else mentioned, that makes me squirm inside (in a yuk way!). I do have a very strong visual imagination so I presume that's why "disgusting" phrases like that bother me.

😂 not All words and phrases. Mainly particularly vivid ones.

Like the OP, boiling piss is an immediate horrible imagery. I don’t actually mind cock lodger because it is very descriptive, despite the ugly imagery. Cockwomble though, I dislike. Because it induces images of cute wombles holding not so cute cocks ambling across Wimbledon common. .

And agree with the PP about ‘love the bones of him’ - same imagery. Shudder!

NoelFaraday · 28/06/2025 11:48

It is an awful phrase.

So is ‘large of nork’ and ‘naice’ as in ‘naice ham.’

Oh yes, cockwomble is horrible too. I think of cock-headed Wombles ambling around Wimbledon Common using their bellends to sniff out bits of litter. Wankpuffin is similarly evocative in a very unwelcome way.

Referring to "norks" makes my toes curl. I find it unbearably cringeworthy.

I get the visualisations too. If anyone says "nom nom nom" I immediately picture a line of pigs with their heads in a trough.

'Large of nork' makes me cringe. It sounds so naff, and you just know that the person saying it thinks they're being utterly hilarious. 🙄 And yes, people who say 'naice' especially when they're using it to describe where they live annoys me too. I also HATE the stupid threads about fucking spider willies, and washing being darked on. More overused than a 90 year old couch!

SharpLily · 28/06/2025 12:42

Meh. I feel the same way about hun/hunni, hubby and you/we was. Yuck.

Haha I visualise one being lodged on a small shelf like a common room pigeon-hole or an individual shoe rack
