Is cream the best ? Will it then feel stubbly and Itchy

is it best left well alone ?
I mainly notice it when washing my face as the face wash kind bubbles up in the area !
it’s fair in colour so it doesn’t stand out too much
bit mean also notice it if I use make up like foundation

@JohnAdamsIknowhim does vanqa work and how do you get it

Private prescription, I used to be able to get it on the nhs but can’t anymore but lots of online pharmacies do it so you can shop around for a good deal, it doesn’t stop the growth but it slows it down, for me it’s worth it just to stop the sheer quickness when I don’t have a bottle for a while it’s noticeable

At age Mid fifties my hairs grew. I am 61 currently. I gently shave my moustache area every two weeks with sensitive lady razors and sensitive shaving foam. In a downwards motion.

I also use tweezers regularly to remove hairs sprouting from my chin.

GiraffesAtThePark · 27/06/2025 04:46

I didn’t know chin hairs were so common 😞 not looking forward to that.

I was about 13 when I first noticed. I remember sitting next to a boy at around that time and him saying ‘you have a moustache’ and being mortified. I use tweezers when I remember.
Im thinking of getting laser as it’ll be one less thing to worry about. I’m amazed it worked so well for bikini line.

As a teen I used hair removing cream then moved onto wax/tweezers. It hardly grows now. But I have a Philips lunea and I use it as a top up when I’m doing other areas etc. I think waxing worked well to stop the growth.

spoonbillstretford · 27/06/2025 04:57

49 and nothing so far. But then I also realise my eyesight is going too so maybe I just can't see it. 🤔

DDs would definitely tell me if I had a moustache though.

Electrolysis on my upper lip in my 20s sorted that out. The chin whiskers I tackle with my One Touch electrolysis kit. It does take about 15 minutes to do one hair (normally do it while listening to the Archers Grin) but they do stop growing back. It’s a great little device.

About 12. I was so distraught DM bought me Jolen cream bleach. How I though a bright orange moustache was better, I don’t know!
At 17 I used nair then began plucking pretty much daily any time a hair poked through.
Late 20’s I started using Veet wax strips. I’ve been waxing weekly, with mid week pluck, ever since. 25 ish years.
If I’m ever in a coma I want DH to get a beautician in weekly so I don’t end up looking like Tom Selleck!

This almost word for what what I was about to write - except that I’d never let hair removing cream within a million miles of my face due to the great welts it left under my arm puts when I was 15.
the only annoying thing about the veet wax strips is that you get about 20 strips in a pack and only four little soothing oil wipes. I’ve never understood why.

BlackCatGreyWhiskers · 27/06/2025 06:23

I’m fair so mine are blonde and less noticeable but at 34 I’ve definitely noticed more facial hair. It’s so depressing! I’ve not really known how to approach it. I do sort of trim them with scissors. I’ll pluck dark ones but very few are dark. It’s just their texture and length that sets them apart. Also on the sides of my face all longer length fuzzy hair.

Zippedydodah · 27/06/2025 06:27

I just whizz over my upper lip with my epilator, it’s a bit ouchy but takes seconds and works well.
Chin hairs get plucked with tweezers.

ParmaViolletts · 27/06/2025 07:00

@JohnAdamsIknowhim absolutely how much are you paying

mumzof4x · 27/06/2025 07:01

For those that use and have success with the beer wax strips, can I ask if they remove the really course dark hair that I currently tweeze out please ?

FloweryCactus · 27/06/2025 07:13

Shave my top lip daily (takes 3 seconds) and pluck my chin as hairs appear. Always had quite a moustache but the chin hairs started when I hit 40. A decade on, there are a lot of them.

Bowies · 27/06/2025 08:16

20s tried electrolysis and a similar thing I can’t remember the name of (also salon) - slow painful, expensive and hair grew back exactly the same.

Jolen for a while was okay but wouldn’t be good on thicker hair. Facial wax strips at home (Veet sensitive face).

Threading (salon) for a while was quite good but also a bit slow and quite painful.

Best thing I’ve found is Lycon hot wax (salon). Quick not painful. Slower finer regrowth and less irritation than the wax strips. Hardly any hair there now and just go from time to time.

Missingpop · 29/06/2025 17:31

I use a little face shaver from amazon, it takes about 10 seconds in the morning and doesn't hurt or damage my skin: amzn.eu/d/3LH8Gj0

I have just ordered this and will get it tomorrow. The reviews are very good. Thank you for posting a link.
