Is cream the best ? Will it then feel stubbly and Itchy

is it best left well alone ?
I mainly notice it when washing my face as the face wash kind bubbles up in the area !
it’s fair in colour so it doesn’t stand out too much
bit mean also notice it if I use make up like foundation

I’ve had it waxed off before now. It hurts, but it is effective.

NonPlayerExtra · 25/06/2025 14:41

I noticed my hairy top lip in a workplace bathroom mirror under (what I assume) the universe’s most unflattering lights a couple of months ago. I’m early-mid 40s. I’m fair so I’m hoping it’s not obvious. I do keep meaning to wax though but I need to find a weekend when I can stay home as my skin will go red for a few hours. Would’ve been easier to do during the Covid-mask-wearing-era.

Lurkingandlearning · 25/06/2025 16:24

Someone might come along and correct me, but I see no difference in waxing and plucking. Any unwanted facial hair gets plucked out with tweezers, the same as I’ve spent my adult life doing with my eyebrows. I find it less painful and it doesn’t leave a red mark. Surely that has to be kinder to your face

I had electrolysis for a couple of years (hurts like hell and didn't work), then bleached for a few years. Started waxing at home in my late 20's, does the job nicely.

NegroniMacaroni · 25/06/2025 16:30

I noticed from a young age (Mediterranean heritage). I've always plucked - used to be several times a week but the plucking seems to have slowed the hair growth over the years so I only pluck once a week now.

In my mid 30s I also noticed some nice thick chin hairs, which I do pluck too though its sort of sad as they're quite nice to stroke when deep in thought lol

HoobleDooble · 25/06/2025 16:30

I’m in my 50s and it’s become more noticeable in the last 5 years, I just give it a run over with my epilator when I do my armpits. Makes your eyes water a bit but it’s done in seconds.

NegroniMacaroni · 25/06/2025 16:31

Oh and i did try waxing once but got an awful rash, plucking was better

MrsGrowl · 25/06/2025 16:33

About 12. I was so distraught DM bought me Jolen cream bleach. How I though a bright orange moustache was better, I don’t know!
At 17 I used nair then began plucking pretty much daily any time a hair poked through.
Late 20’s I started using Veet wax strips. I’ve been waxing weekly, with mid week pluck, ever since. 25 ish years.
If I’m ever in a coma I want DH to get a beautician in weekly so I don’t end up looking like Tom Selleck!

Nottodaty · 25/06/2025 16:33

Mine is usually blonde and I’ve just left it be….untill I hit mid 40’s I get a nice thick black one appear in day …never the same place and sometimes on my chin??

For now I just pluck it out - it hurts!!

My daughter is only 15 and hers is very dark hair on fair skin she waxes - she did try threading and it was to painful!

AmelieSummer25 · 25/06/2025 16:41

I go to a woman once every 5 weeks. Chin, lip & underarms!

job done.

i was plucking the chin ones & igniting the soft hairs on my upper lip, but they started to look like 'dark patches' (not individual hairs) & they hurt like fuck to try to pluck & I can't inflict pain on myself to wax myself so I pay for the torture!!

all 3 is £35 per 5 weeks. Money I could do without spending, but I don't have to think about it inbetween.

WinterNightStars · 25/06/2025 16:57

I’m dark haired so noticeable from teens. Used to bleach as a teen/young adult. Now wax with Jolen sensitive facial strips every few weeks & pluck strays as needed. @MrsGrowlthat made me laugh as was ill in hospital for a week recently, not in a coma but not far off, & was shocked at the growth (when I was well enough to care)🤣

Somanyquestionsss · 25/06/2025 21:11

Early-mid 20s I started getting thickish moustache and chin hairs. I just examine every morning and night and pluck them out when they appear.

JohnAdamsIknowhim · 25/06/2025 21:14

13 but I have pcos, I’ve tried waxing, electrolysis, bleaching, now I use vaniqa to slow growth, shave every day and use a home laser every couple of weeks.

StanfreyPock · 25/06/2025 21:26

Ooof just you wait, in my 60s and the under-chin hairs are the worst, both dark and white and very springy! Really hard to see them myself without using an array of mirrors and need my glasses on too, so would have to randomly snap my tweezers in the approximate direction. Now have one of those little round shaver gizmos which is excellent.

Perversely i look forward to my morning pluck!

Thelnebriati · 25/06/2025 21:34

I pluck or wax last thing at night - for the love of God don't make the same mistake I did and try an epilator. The one I bought was shaped like a spring and it was stuck to my face, with me too chicken to pull it off.

Overtheatlantic · 25/06/2025 21:36

Shaving, plucking, waxing although it hurts like hell. I keep tweezers in my handbag at all times.

BrennieGirl · 25/06/2025 21:47

I’m 51 and I've had chin and neck hairs for about 10 years but my upper lip hairs have only been noticeable/dark for about the last year. I pluck them out.

greengreyblue · 25/06/2025 21:50

Cold wax strips. DIY. Mine is blonde with the odd dark one since meno. It’s mainly at the sides of the top lip. I cold waxed it a few weeks ago and no regrowth yet.

comfyslippets · 25/06/2025 21:57

I have mine waxed along with my eyebrows. Had them done today actually. Lasts weeks. Have them done every couple of months. I love having it done, if I don’t I’m conscious of it.

SharpWriter · 25/06/2025 21:57

Wax strips at home. One strip each side gets it all out. Hurts like hell but it's quick and it works, plus I've found the hair stops growing the more you do it.

AmyDuPlantier · 25/06/2025 21:58

Shave. And no it doesn’t come back as stubble.

Actually, are you me? Lol.
