Where on earth are you going? Desperate to have something to look forward to but everything is so expensive. UK or abroad. We have no camping kit or desire to buy right now, which I think rules that out

John Fowler Holidays have lodge/caravan/glamping sites in Devon, Cornwall and Wales. If you can leave it a bit last notice, you’ll find a real bargain - for example this week coming in St Ives is about £350-£400 for a caravan that sleeps 6.

Yeah cos £13K is a totally realistic budget for most people ConfusedConfusedConfused you just wanted to boast didn’t you. Hmm

@Spinachpastapicker not at all. The OP asked about our holidays this year. We are flying on air miles and have not paid for the flights. We're going to florida and have work-related hotel discounts. The main cost will be the spending money. It's a huge cost for us. Not that I need to explain myself to you or anyone.

Have a look at P&O cruises out of Southampton. If you're happy to have an inside cabin we've done holidays for a family of 4 to European destinations for under £2k in school holidays. That includes all of your food and water, tea and coffee plus fruit juice in the mornings. If you want other drinks you pay for them and you'll want a bit of spending money for in country but we've found them really relaxing and surprisingly affordable.

£520 for a Monday-friday stay in a lodge at Bluestone in Pembrokeshire early July, and £300 on a two night hotel stay before the kids go back to school end of August.

Last year was about £1800 on a eurocamp in France and ferry.

Dd and 2 friends are going to Athens 8-12 September.
WizzAir flights (underseat bag) plus Airbnb were €170 per person.
I’m expecting €75-100 per day spending money.

I often use cottages.com for UK self catering (not advertising!). You can really narrow down the choice and currently it’s £25 to reserve.

And I have a timeshare which generates good income on the years I decide to rent it out. The timeshare company takes its cut and there’s no guarantee it will be taken but it’s a good week and I’ve always earned 1.5x the annual fees.

For this country Sykes cottages are a reasonable price ,also Cottages.com and Airbnb are a bit more reasonable than booking.com in some cases. It is worth having a look as some places are on different websites but are charging less.

@Minecroftwe went to Marni Village last year. Had a fantastic holiday. It’s a brilliant location. I’d defiantly go back there.

That's fantastic value. I would like to try Bluestone
