Professor Barbie obviously analysed the information herself and decided that the experts were wrong. What are her credentials, apart from being able to talk bull shit for Trump?

"Mark Mazzetti, Jonathan Swan, Maggie Haberman, Eric Schmitt, and Helene Cooper reported yesterday in the New York Times that Trump had warned Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu against striking Iran but changed his mind after seeing how Israel’s military action was “playing” on television. The reporters write: “The president was closely monitoring Fox News, which was airing wall-to-wall praise of Israel’s military operation and featuring guests urging Mr. Trump to get more involved.”
Trump began to hint he had been part of the operation, and military advisors began to draw up plans for a strike. According to the reporters, by June 17—three days after his military parade had fizzled and more than 5 million Americans had turned out to protest his administration—Trump had decided to bomb Iran."

So Trump bombed Iran because of Fox news? Apologies if you already knew this, I’d missed this crucial point along the way.

The US military strikes on three of Iran's nuclear facilities last weekend did not destroy the core components of the country's nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, according to an early US intelligence assessment that was described by three people briefed on it.

The assessment, which has not been previously reported, was produced by the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon's intelligence arm. It is based on a battle damage assessment conducted by US Central Command in the aftermath of the US strikes, one of the sources said.

Let’s face it all we have officially are the words of Trump, Bibi and Iranian spokesmen. That’s a three way tie in a who’s most likely to be lying competition. The truth could be anywhere on a spectrum between not at all damaged and TOTAL OBLITERATION

PickAChew · 24/06/2025 22:18

The report suggests that President Trump’s earlier statement on the strike’s success was overstated.

Only one possible response to that...
NO WAYYYYY!

Oh that rings a bell.

Seem to remember this happened throughout his first term as well: the Fox News Audience of One.

People who couldn't get access to the Oval Office (or Mar A Lago) would go on Fox News to message the President of the United States.

It was highly effective, and they might even get to be the most recent person who spoke to him – which is usually who he is steered by.

Pedallleur · 25/06/2025 06:26

Wait!!! Apparently the Bigly bombs haven't been successful. This according to intelligence reports by the intelligence organisations of the US. They are apparently wrong because everyone knows what Bigly bombs do. Trump and the Press Secretary know so there.

Totally Fake News of course 😜

Igotjelly · 25/06/2025 06:45

So what they’ve actually done is manage to monumentally piss of a regime that previously probably wasn’t actually that close to getting a bomb but is now going to race for one. 😑 sounds like a monumental success.

CaveMum · 25/06/2025 08:55

There’s concern that Mamdani’s selection could prompt the Dems to lurch to the Left (US “left”, not actual left) thinking that is what the country want, and that didn’t work too well at the last election. New York is liberal, but most of the country is not and it could play into the “coastal elites” narrative.

They talked a bit about it on yesterday’s live TRIP US and mentioned that another Democratic Primary recently (in Virginia I think) had gone with more a traditional “centrist” Democrat, so they need to be careful not to jump to conclusions.

That said, he’s a really interesting guy with lots of good ideas. He did an interview with Pod Save America a few weeks ago which is worth listening to.

Meh….NYC Mayor role won’t have any impact in the Senate.

logicisall · 25/06/2025 09:15

What is going on with the Democratic Party? Where's the pushback against Trump? There doesn't seem to a cohesive plan going forward and I agree that they need to adapt their narrative to suit the local audience.

I keep using the word 'interesting' but this article articulates the Trump playbook very well.

I'm not sure how I feel about the news that we will be buying US planes to carry US bombs when the US is now such an unreliable 'ally'.🤔

I'm sure we'd rather have bombs that worked.

SerendipityJane · 25/06/2025 09:42

I'm sure we'd rather have bombs that worked.

Isn't that the problem though?
Will the planes work when we want them to or would they have US controlled software we don't have 100% access to? Will bomb maintenance be only by US personnel? I think it's fair to be asking these questions now.

Cynical me hopes there's a parallel move towards future UK/European supply going on in the background.

Yes. Trump either pulled the software support (or threatened to—I can’t recall which) to Zelensky. On a whim.
