Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

Happy Father's Day to any dads on the thread this morning!

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have been fed and have vanished, and I have the second load of towels in the washer. The first is on the line. I need to take my tablets in a mo.

We don't have much planned for today, I don't think. Dd1's up and out to travel home from Lido festival in London - she'll get home around 4pm, I think. Dd2 wants to print a couple of past GCSE Biology papers to practise for her upcoming mock exam on Wednesday.

I'll have a slow, moochy kind of day - bit of house hunting & sending enquiries (the fun part of the day, obviously 🙄), bit of decluttering before we move, some trousers to take up, and try out my new pyrography tool I think. That'll probably take me to tea time!

We're having roast pork sandwiches with stuffing, gravy, and apple sauce for me 😋. I'll probably do some roast potatoes too.

Once we've tidied from tea it'll be early showers all round ready for the coming week. I'll have my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower - face mask, hair mask, shave legs, maybe tan, paint my toenails a different colour & consider changing my finger nails too - although I think they'll do this week. After that, I'll read for an hour or so, then an early night 💤.

What about everyone else? 🙂

Morrisons online shopping says they do! Or Ocado, amazon and ebay do too.

I feel there may be pink custard in my life soon. Thank you!

Happy Sunday all. Currently standing in Argos, doing a few bits from the Never Ending list. Had a very enjoyable turkish lesson earlier and will need to get some more booked.

I'll do a bit more house and self care stuff and give the parents a call later. Indonesian chicken with mango salad for dinner, in spite of the terrible weather. We've had several very low key weekends in a row here but it's been very much needed. I think we were all feeling pretty burnt out. Looking forward to the summer holidays - 2 weeks to go here!

@OneLilacEagle could you share more about the Indonesia chicken please? I’m going to menu plan tomorrow and I have some coconut cream / milk that needs to be used up. Please and thanks.

Well it’s far from this morning but good evening everyone!
@lucysmam are you moving far?
We had a nice morning, dh ds and I went to the coast, found a lovely little village for brunch.
then home and the dds both came home as dh was cooking up a feast - been a nice afternoon for me relaxing and tending to my herb garden (have just put out some beer traps for some very determined slugs, not sure if it’s too horrible to do to them and tempted to go and remove them again!). Dh loves cooking and refused a meal out or me cooking.
Nice to have everyone home, it’s rare these days with one at uni and one working full time and also spending a lot of time with her boyfriend.
It’s been gloriously sunny too so I’ve been laying out and topping up my tan which always makes me happy 😊

@OneLilacEagle thank you! I’ll peruse that.

@TheChosenTwo No, hopefully around the same area so I don't need to travel far for work. We've enquired about two houses - one's on the main road though so not ideal.

Back to school pink custard my DP said in his primary school they once, and only the once, had green mint flavoured custard served with chocolate pudding. As you can imagine his memory of that is not at all fond.

DilemmaDelilah · 16/06/2025 15:26

@TroysMammy oooh toothpaste!

lucysmam · 16/06/2025 17:00

Oh god, I think we had mint custard a handful of times.

I'm not keen on the texture of blancmange as blancmange...as custard? Yummy!

Maybe I need to get some & make chocolate concrete 😋

I would have loved mint custard, but don’t think we ever had that. I’m thinking mint choc chip ice cream vibes.
