Not a trick question, just genuinely what colour would you say this is?

"Purple color blindness, often a symptom of Tritan types of color vision deficiency, involves difficulties distinguishing between purple and blue, and sometimes other colors like pink and gray. "

I'm not seeing any hint of purple in that photo.

KeineBedeutung · 12/06/2025 04:22

It looks grey/brown with a greenish hint however black can also look like that if photographed in strong sunlight. 😎

It’s impossible to tell exact colours on a screen. You need the real thing and daylight.

daisychain01 · 12/06/2025 05:02

Definitely hint of donkey 😂😆😁

That's really interesting. My son is colorblind (red/green) and we took part in an experiment at Cambridge Uni for Mums and colourblind sons. He was given the standard test for colourblindness but I was given a tray of discs ranging from white through to dark lilac, all on the grey and lilac spectrum and asked to place them in order of palest to darkest. I couldn't see why the researchers were testing my ability to perceive grey/lilac but your explanation makes sense. Thank you

Valkirie · 12/06/2025 08:34

Looks like it could be taupe with a lilac undertone. Or possibly a muted olive colour, depending on the lighting your picture was taken in. Can you share a photo from the original listing?

slowlydecaying · 12/06/2025 08:37

grey

TheGrimSmile · 12/06/2025 08:53

Mink

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 12/06/2025 08:55

It's taupe. Or mole.

caramac04 · 12/06/2025 09:00

I think it looks grey.
I remember watching a programme with Jackson Pollock. He was painting the sane outdoor scene in each season. I was gobsmacked by his representation of natural tree and hedge colours as they looked totally different to the actual scene in front of him.
Apparently we don’t all see colours the same. I get that to a degree but this was mad!
I think the seller isn’t JP and has described it incorrectly.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 12/06/2025 09:04

Does it look a bit more purple in daylight? I can't tell what light you've taken the photo in.
