What causes you the most stress? Family, work, partner, children, friends or other?

For me it’s persistently work. I wonder how different my life would be if I didn’t have to work.

what about you?

Yep, work.

Trinity69 · 11/06/2025 20:59

Family and children but in all fairness it’s through no fault of their own. Mum has early onset dementia and both of my kids have SEN.

Tennistote · 11/06/2025 20:59

Work.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 11/06/2025 21:02

Work although I don’t have children

JockyWilsonsaid · 11/06/2025 21:03

For me it's a combination of the lot (minus partner, I'm single). Each bit on its own is fine, but put it all together and I cannot keep all the balls in the air. Some days are infinitely better than others, but that's because I'm not juggling it all, I've hidden one of the balls for a while (sorry, dad) and that helps.

niki26 · 11/06/2025 21:45

Children. They are 4 and 9 - fantastic girls but yes, the most stressful part of my life at the moment. Husband a close second!

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 11/06/2025 21:47

Work. Without a doubt.

SendBooksAndTea · 11/06/2025 21:47

Work because of the job I do, i love it too though.

Moveoverdarlin · 11/06/2025 21:48

Children. Two aged 6 and 10. The stress is off the scale.

MidnightPatrol · 11/06/2025 21:49

My biggest source of stress is actually lack of downtime currently, particularly in the evenings.

Work is full on, have children <5. Hours commute home, then play, bath, bed, faffing, negotiating to get back into bed, cooking, whatever domestic stuff I have to do then… oh god it’s 10pm, bed time so I can be up at 6.

I in recent memory had an evening. It’s wearing.

WasherWoman25 · 11/06/2025 21:53

I think it’s all combined, I could do one without the others if you know what I mean.

Work isn’t that stressful at the moment, but having to be at work when I have so many appointments I need to sort is.

Children (SEND teens) are hard work but because I have a full time job it makes it a million times harder to cope and get any down time.

My house needs lots of TLC but I don’t get time to do it because of the above.

I could do with spending a lot more time with my Mum but see above

DH does lots around the house (also has a full time job) but struggles with the challenges of SEND children so often find myself making him feel better too.

Honestly, I’m exhausted from balancing it all.

Kleya25 · 11/06/2025 21:53

Finances, work, health, caring role and partner's health. This is definitely not how I thought midlife would be.

Beetletweetle · 11/06/2025 21:55

For me it's the guilt. If I'm at work I feel guilty about what to haven't done for dc. If I'm with dc I feel guilty for not being on top of everything at work.

Ratisshortforratthew · 11/06/2025 21:57

If I had to pick it would be work when it gets too busy but on the whole there isn’t really anything stressful about my life.

Meadowfinch · 11/06/2025 22:02

Partner, which is why I ended it. What a relief. No more criticism. 🙂

My ds16 is lovely and my family is going through a relatively sane patch. Work is good too.

b0nAfIdE · 11/06/2025 22:04

Work, kids and my birth family - they all tag team!

Currently kids and family are doing OK right now, so naturally work has kicked off massively 🙄

farmlass · 11/06/2025 22:09

Elderly parents at each others throats and taking it out on me ,and supporting twenty something son through counselling . But he’s done amazingly well and will be back at work soon .

Paperweight7 · 11/06/2025 22:10

Family.

Too many people with severe mental health issues who can be manipulative and/or abusive. Too many problems to sort out.

Work is actually a relief most of the time. I sometimes dream of being in a completely sterile, emotionless world (in my head, it looks like a set of identical apartments and each day is predictable and utterly dull). I crave monotony as constantly living on edge is wearing me down.

PositiveLife · 11/06/2025 22:11

Work, but I suspect that's increased because I feel so reliant on it as a single parent. If I was still with husband I'd probably worry less about it.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 11/06/2025 22:12

Other.

It used to be DD and DH. It's now work. The others haven't gone down. Work has ramped up.

Ddakji · 11/06/2025 22:18

Child, though I only have one and she doesn’t cause much stress.

My job isn’t stressful.

DH is lovely.

Stress is mainly caused by my inability to make decisions, and to struggle with the ones I have made.

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 11/06/2025 22:21

All of them at the moment
