Tesco Humous

EasierToWalkAway · 10/06/2025 14:43

Does anyone know how I can feedback directly to Tesco about their new cheapened off houmous recipe? It is absolutely vile – thin and watery, dreadful texture and taste. It makes what I’m eating with it taste awful as well, so it will be scraped into the food recycling and I won’t be buying it again. Why oh why take a good thing and make it worse?

And can you recommend the best supermarket humous now please? Tesco recommendations will not be welcomed 🤢

The Sabra houmous sold by Tesco is much better. I have it marked as ‘don’t substitute’ as I’d rather have no houmous than Tesco own brand houmous.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 10/06/2025 15:57

Ramonas is the only hummus worth buying from Tesco.

TheNinjaWife · 10/06/2025 16:46

i second Sabra. Quite a few supermarkets stock it.

Sabra humous is delicious but is a controversial product these days. You may want to do your own research about the background of the company and make a decision about whether you still want to buy the product.

Interesting, I will do dome research. I do like to make my own Humous, but often use shop bought for convenience.

Thanks for the recommendations. I couldn't find where to feedback online, but I did take the vile stuff straight back to the Tesco's where I bought it from and they were happy to take my comments and feed them back. They offered me the choice of a refund or a replacement 😂

Ramonas houmous is the one we buy

Post a review on their website. The consensus on the change seems to be like your view - watery and not nice at all.

Christ it was dreadful before. Ramonas is crap also.

helloquitty · 11/06/2025 22:02

M&S houmous is nice

pictoosh · 11/06/2025 22:03

Agree. Aldi humous is actually better.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 11/06/2025 22:05

YY to Ramona's.

SendBooksAndTea · 11/06/2025 22:07

I noticed the same with their other dips, they've definitely watered them down, which is a shame as they were pretty good before.

I used to like Aldi humous the best. I can't help thinking that has changed for the worst now.

Screamingabdabz · 11/06/2025 22:13

Ramonas is good and lasts a while. Sabra was too oily and puréed for my taste.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 11/06/2025 22:14

Why do food manufacturers do this? I have never, in my long life, tasted a new version of any food that wasn’t ruined.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 11/06/2025 22:16

Kids prefer Co-op houmous it’s a bit more flavoursome. I get an online Tesco shop but it’s one of those things I never buy there.

People seem to prefer foods when they are sweeter or more acidic. I've never done much shopping in Aldi but when I did I would make sure that I bought some of their humous. I'm not sure if it was the taste of the tahini or the chickpeas I liked so much. The last couple of times I bought it the flavour seemed masked by increased acidity. I think I'll try it again though or maybe I'll try Ramona. Or maybe I'll just buy a jar of tahini.

Lyla82 · 12/06/2025 12:13

Sabra houmous is delicious!

LawAndDisorderSeason3 · 12/06/2025 12:16

Al Kasih is our fave. Very much depends if people like smooth or not, tahini alot or not.

Another vote for Ramonas
also we get it in tins from our local Syrian shop, delicious and v handy

Doseofreality · 12/06/2025 12:24

Booths humous is elite and actually cheaper than most supermarket own brands. I get it from Amazon Fresh.

Yellowtracktor · 12/06/2025 12:26

Haha weirdly I prefer the new recipe? Seems smoother than before, it used to be all weird and grainy.

Bloody awful, isn’t it? I had some last week at a picnic. I assume they changed it for a cheaper recipe.

It is the easiest thing in the world to make if you have a blender (even a stick one) so we’ve given up on buying it. It takes about as long as making a cup of tea takes.
