I'm ill in bed and bored. Mines a slow cooker. I don't like stew or casserole, I know you can cook lots of things in it but I never use it. What's yours?

A mattress that doesn't fit the bed or a bed that doesn't fit the mattress- not sure which yet. Both are advertised as a standard double 🤔

Sounds like IKEA.....they may be different now but 25yrs ago they were about 10inches too short and you had fill the gap with about 15pillows!

I got a laser hair removal device to use at home almost 10 years ago. So expensive. I used it less than 5 times before I got a Groupon to get it done professionally..

A juicer. Made lovely juice but the clean up was a pain in the arse. About 8 parts to clean up.

Same, ours is sitting in a cupboard somewhere

Use the slowcooker and airfryer a lot

Mothership4two · 07/06/2025 05:01

Heavy Dyson vacuum cleaner - going to give myself a hernia lugging it about.

Designer sunglasses that I lost in a supermarket (think they must have dropped off my head when I was leaning over the freezer). I liked them, but there's no functional difference to the much cheaper ones I use now.

My parents got me a cross trainer once. The one piece of gym equipment I absolutely loathe. It's quietly rotting away in the garage.

I love my slow cooker!

Air fryer. It gets used for fish & chips & nothing else.

Hair straightener brush. Never used it as I cba taking the time to use it.

A lot of stylish looking shoes bought online for travel earlier this year. None were any good. Eventually I went to a hiking store & bought a pair of standard walking shoes & put my own orthodic inserts in & thankfully were perfect, since we walked at least 15km a day.

I try to always very careful about buying only when I'll use, because I have a DM that, as long as I can remember, impulse buys every new fad she sees. Doesn't use it & then tries to palm it off on me!!

My hair straightener brush is still in its packaging 🤦‍♀️

I have lost more sunglasses into the sea than you can count - bloody Davey Jones' locker lol - now I use £6 pair with an old shoelace when on the boat etc.

Sports equipment seems to be featuring highly as well - including Peleton bikes.

Agree re Dysons - noisy, useless and bloody rubbish - we bought a 2nd hand Kirby for about £75 and it was amazing - too heavy to take upstairs so bought another for upstairs - both still working 15years later

Recently paid £300 on a conveyancing solicitor's retainer and soon after the sale of my flat fell through.

AbsoluteBeginner1 · 07/06/2025 05:39

A few hundred pounds of Reiss clothes after a personal shopping session with them. Id just got a new city job and wanted an exciting new wardrobe but nothing really got worn/too formal

Ice cream maker : lost a bit to it then never replaced, it just sits in my cupboard gathering dust

Nettleteaser101 · 07/06/2025 05:40

Babylis hair culer thing where you put your hair in and it winds it and curls.Ive used it once and it pulled my hair and the curls just dropped straight away. I think it was just under £100, I got it when it first came out.

I am wondering if I have ADHD... so most of my purchases seem a good idea at the time, but they are not.

Yes that's a typical trait of ADHD.

Precovid we spent £500 on an architect's plans to redesign and build on to our house. It's much more expensive now and we can't afford it.

Dyson air wrap! I remember seeing adverts on the TV and saying how much I’d love one… DH so kindly bought me one for Christmas a few years ago and I just cannot master it. Think my hair is too thick and it just makes my hair look awful.

Littleredtreesoutside · 07/06/2025 06:01

A foreo bear microcurrent mini face toner. Used it a few times and just CBA keeping it up.

feelingbleh · 07/06/2025 06:05

Nintendo switch its barely been touched

Mymanyellow · 07/06/2025 06:08

Disturbia81 · 06/06/2025 23:30

Same. I make beautiful stew and soups etc in pans but slow cooker stuff never comes out right

so yes slow cooker!
Treadmill
face creams
kindle, i prefer books
electric toothbrushes

I think it’s because the liquid doesn’t boil off ( what is the word) like it dies on the hob.
Mine is air fryer used when I first got it but do t really see the point of it and it’s a bugger to clean.

I’m thinking my ninja creami

DD16 is desperate for one of those!

CoubousAndTourmalet · 07/06/2025 06:12

A large custom built dog kennel in our garden. The dogs have never used it, they've always slept in the house. The kennel takes up a big chunk of our garden, and is basically just an ugly garden shed now, filled with stuff.

Saw someone mention Peloton bike here. My Peloton is the absolute best thing I ever spent money on. I use it every day, as does my husband, plus we use the program for strength classes. I also have multiple Mulberry bags and swear by them. However, slow cooker is on my list of things I never use, plus a pressure cooker. Our rice cooker though gets used all the time. I can't cook rice without a rice cooker. Also on my list is this expensive woolen coat I bought after I saw Minnie Driver wear it on Instagram. Never worn it and now live in S E Asia so too hot! I can't even bear seeing it!

RabbitsRock · 07/06/2025 06:20

I went through a phase of buying a lot of stuff from Temu & have regretted some of it since. Really not sure I will wear the pink & black wig as it will no doubt be a faff to get on!
Bought an avocado slicer in the middle of Lidl & have never used it.

PurpleFlower1983 · 07/06/2025 06:21

Dyson Airwrap, just a glorified hairdryer these days.

Dressinggownqueenslay · 07/06/2025 06:24

Please sell me your Mulberry bags and Airwraps!

those are both on my wish list 🤣

Highlighta · 07/06/2025 06:27

Agree on slow cooker. I need to get rid of mine as it's just taking up space in the cupboard. Everthing cooked in it tastes the same. Ditto one of those glass round convection ovens. The light is so bright on it, it is blinding. Used once.

Coach bag. It's preloved but I used it once. It's so heavy even without anything in it. And it won't stand upright when I place it down. So annoying. I should sell that too.

Epilator. Good god this is like a human torture device. I read the blurb and believed what they said that if you use it more you get used to the pain. You do not. Well I did not. I even resorted to using it on the chin hairs that I've been blessed with recently. It look a layer of skin off my face and that took forever to heal.

Bottles and bottles of lotion / hand wash sets. They look so good on the shelf and matched the bathroom decor etc. I've come to realise the prettier the bottle, the more watery the lotion is inside.

I love my air fryer though. I plonk the basket part in the dishwasher so cleaning doesn't get a 2nd thought. I make the best steaks in there. And pork belly.

Eufy hoover. Absolutely crap, gets tangled up in everything and causes me more.stress than if I didn't bother with it

Yes I agree, total waste of time I was “supervising” mine (called Elon 😂 )all the time otherwise it got into trouble, quicker and less hassle to run my cordless hoover around. Elon is gathering dust, rather than cleaning it up these days.

CeciliaMars · 07/06/2025 06:28

Robot Hoover.

I have a Buster and he too needs constant supervision.

Really defeats the point.
