And what are the rules?
We've gone beyond Uno but don't have a game that we all 4 play together.
Thanks

Nomination Whist sounds similar to a game we refer to as 10s.

1st round - 10 cards each, hearts are trumps, go round the table from the dealer and call how many tricks you'll think you'll win (N). Marked on the score sheet as 10 + N, ie 2 tricks = 12. Play out the hands. If you are wrong your score gets crossed out.

2nd round - 9 cards each, clubs are trumps.
Etc down to 1 card each.

Winner is the highest score.

Some variations play it that the last score caller can't make the total correct for that round.

Added bonus in our family, if you get all 10 rounds correct you win a tie from my dad's (no longer so extensive) collection. I've no idea how this started! At my house you now win a tie from my late DHs (still quite extensive) collection.

That’s the one but for us you go to the maximum hands allowed - 13 for 4 players - down to 1 and back up to 13. It can take a couple of hours. You pay a penalty, usually 10p for every hand you don’t get your call on. You get a 15 points for each trick you get and 10 points if you call zero and get zero.

Also, dealer rotates and they are the one that can’t make it an even call.

We love nomination whist. I wonder if it’s the same as predict whist…we love card games.

You predict how many tricks you are going to get in a round. The person to the left of the dealer predicts first, the dealer predicts last and is not allowed to make up the 'right' number of tricks (eg. If 7 cards are dealt the total number of predicted tricks can't be 7 ie. At least one is person needs to lose).

Scoring is 10 for accurate prediction + number of tricks
0 if you predict less than you said
Number of tricks if you predict more than you said.

Usually you predict low and try to lose.

We usually go 10 cards to 1. The final round is very much luck! Especially if you're the dealer and can't predict what you want, or the first to lay.

Yes, that's it, except we score slightly differently as you get the points of your tricks if you get more than you predicted. Also we cut for trumps before the deal.

We are much less generous rewarding the winner though. The loser has a forfeit - doing all the washing up, making breakfast the next day, jumping in the pool at 11pm after they're all nice and clean.

A to K. This is gin rummy with Aces as jokers, next round is 2s are jokers until King's. Points are based on cards held at the end of a round, face cards are 10 points, jokers are 15. Lowest points wins.

Jack3. I'm sure this is a family game, no-one else has heard of it. It's basically Uno with a pack of cards, some certain cards have special powers. Jack= miss a go, King= change direction. Ace= change suit. 2= pick up 2, unless you play a 2, next player picks up 4.

The rest are better with 4 players, difficult for us as DH and DD2 hate playing cards. Hearts and Diamonds both involve dealing the whole pack out and holding 26cards is quite tough.

We've taught ourselves go fish.

We played something similar to your Jack3, before I'd ever heard of Uno. Weirdly, you had to Cough if you played a Queen.
