Anyone work for Greggs bakery?

Bizzyre · 01/06/2025 18:21

My daughter has an eating disorder and atm the greggs pizza is her main focus.

I was wondering if the pizzas come in frozen and if i might be allowed to purchase them uncooked?

I've been hoping they will show up in the frozen Iceland range but no luck so far.

Can't imagine they would allow that
Are you close enough to buy a few days worth and reheat?

ShellieAnn · 01/06/2025 18:38

Worked for them in the past. People had asked this about various products in and they were not allowed due to food hygiene reasons. They were also not frozen. We assembled them in the back.

Excuse me?
She has ARFID and is under the childrens ED team who have specifically said feed her what she wants, when she wants so she doesn't end up back on a feeding tube in hospital! Encourage all eating!

How dare you insinuate this is somehow my fault, she is autistic and my other children have very 'normal' diets.

Thankyou for that info.

You absolutely won’t be able to if you play by the rules, as it’s a H&S nightmare.

What might work is popping in on a quiet day and asking if you can buy frozen and them put through the till as though they were baked - you’re more likely to get a yes that way from a sympathetic worker in store.

Needmorelego · 01/06/2025 18:41

Iceland used to do small rectangle microwave pizzas that were similar to the Greggs ones.
I think they might have been under the TGI Friday range.
Otherwise I suppose you could just buy a load and freeze at home.

InSpainTheRain · 01/06/2025 18:41

I don't work there but one of my DDs does. I do not believe they would do this due to H&S. Everything in the store is on camera so very unlikely they would do this, and even if they did they may get into trouble.

Then you 'think' wrong.

Educate yourself on ARFID. The first thing you should know is it is NOT fussy eating.

Does anyone know if it is possible to freeze the cooked pizzas once cooled please?

You don’t need my reassurance and back up as you’ve responded perfectly to the ‘indulging’ comment, but my DS was only eating McPlants and weetabix for a long while and was under the care of an asd dietitian who, like yours, reassured me that letting him eat what he could was the right thing to do- anything is better than nothing.

I hope you find a solution to the pizza problem.

Needmorelego · 01/06/2025 18:48

@Andthedoor if you don't know anything about ARFID please leave the OP alone.
@Bizzyre I just found these on Amazon.
I think they are the ones I was thinking of (I think Iceland just change the "brand name" every so often).
They are fairly similar to Gregg's pizzas.

Stop being a goady sod, you clearly have no idea about ARFID. It's not just picky eating. Don't be an arse!

You're showing your ignorance rather shamefully.

CatsorDogsrule · 01/06/2025 18:53

You could cool (quickly as possible, I use a fan) and freeze. I don't have experience with ARFID, but the texture might be wrong for her when you reheat.

Nagginthenag · 01/06/2025 18:53

As the pizzas are cooked in store, I'm sure you could freeze them. Does your local Greggs sell the big pizzas?

I have no advice re: Greggs, as I find all of their products repulsive.

I just wanted to comment on your parenting - at how understanding you are of your DD, trying to locate food that she wants to eat.

I'm autistic, and had a very restrictive diet as a child due to multiple issues (various sensory and synesthesia) and my parents response to what would likely be diagnosed as ARFID today (back in the 60's and 70's it was unheard of) was to force feed me, so to read about parents trying to encourage their children to eat what they can cope with is very heartwarming to me.

I still have quite a lot of restrictions with food, but I've worked hard to 'train myself' to eat things that I should be eating; but there's still loads of stuff I won't eat or in some cases, be in the vicinity of.

Yes they sell the boxes of 4 and 6.
I've been buying the 6 packs as they end up about £1.65 each that way (instead of 2.40 I think)

Who put 20p in the dick head?

Good luck OP, we've been there on the edge with ASD, ARFID, OCD. Any food is good food in these circumstances.

Best wishes to you and your DD.

No, it really is not indulging.

I wish my parents had 'indulged' me, instead of holding me down, force feeding me and punching me when I gagged or vomited from having food pushed into my mouth and down my throat.

Also, ARFID is not a mental health condition. I'm autistic, not mentally ill.

I think your four penneth is about as useful as Donald Trump's opinion on this thread would be.
