Seems warm enough here in the South East.
Or will it get darker on?

I purposely hang mine out in the evening sometimes if the forecast is good for the next day.

persisted · 31/05/2025 20:41

I never knew it was a thing to not leave it out overnight.

Standard practice for more than 20 years - home from work put the wash on. Hang it out before bed. Bring in when home from work the following day.

RightOnTheEdge · 31/05/2025 20:43

I leave mine out all the time over night.
I use any random colour and style of peg though and shove my washing up in any old order.
I'm a washing rebel 🤣

SuperTrooper14 · 31/05/2025 20:43

Spider willies I don't mind but letting your washing get darked on is such a no-no!

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2025 20:44

I don’t mind non matching colour pegs. Just getting them to not break is an achievement for me.

TheEveningReport · 31/05/2025 20:44

Daily darkers here in the warmer weather 🙋‍♀️

Poppins2016 · 31/05/2025 20:48

I've already left my washing out overnight several times this year. Sometimes it's better/easier to leave it and bring it in when actually convenient and/or when properly dry (we don't have an airing cupboard).

rubyslippers · 31/05/2025 20:48

I let my washing get darked on and I don’t care about the spider willies !
I often leave washing out overnight and sometimes for two in good weather (time poor, FT working parent)

Fuzzypinetree · 31/05/2025 20:50

We don't even own pegs...I just put everything on the clothes horse and then plonk it in the garden.

Wooden pegs are your friend... they're much sturdier (and no issue with matching)!

2025mustbebetter · 31/05/2025 20:52

Mines out. I won't be bringing it in although it's probably dry already!

Globules · 31/05/2025 20:52

I took in a few bits earlier, but the majority has been left out for the dark to come do its worse.

the80sweregreat · 31/05/2025 20:52

Yeah, I need wooden pegs in my life !
The plastic ones are just hopeless

LoafofSellotape · 31/05/2025 20:55

Yes, I always do.

chaosmaker · 31/05/2025 20:56

Greenartywitch · 31/05/2025 20:30

I could not do that because of the resident foxes :)

I left some cushions out overnight once on a garden chair and the following morning they had been chewed up by the foxes so I dread to think what they would do to my clothes.

Mostly try them on and have a fashion parade

ShowOfHands · 31/05/2025 20:56

I've been leaving mine out overnight for weeks.

In fact, I couldn't sleep last night and got up and fetched some in at 4am and hung out the wet washing from the machine (which was then dry when I got up again at 7am).

Blondebrownorred · 31/05/2025 20:57

My towels are staying out overnight tonight. I never usually do it.

IzzyHandsIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/05/2025 21:00

Mine's out on the line. I saw a spider earlier so I expect it's limbering up to rub it's willy all over my clean towels.

SquitMcJit · 31/05/2025 21:02

I totally would. It’s a lovely warm mild night here.

Sadly, there are some utter twats nearby who light a smoky, shite chimera/firepit bollocks every single night. So always have to bring washing in by 4pm. It’s very tedious.

Errolwasahero · 31/05/2025 21:02

@RightOnTheEdge that was applause, not thanks!

I do risk the willies on my dp’s clothes, but mine are generally more fragile and sensitive, I worry about the effects on them of all those tiny willies getting off on them….

WingBingo · 31/05/2025 21:02

I don’t usually either but tonight I have. Resonates with me so much I’ve even added a picture. I love line drying. That’s the 4th load today

pollution, should be laws about that

Dogpawsandcatwhiskers · 31/05/2025 21:04

Yes! 🕷

Sasha07 · 31/05/2025 21:11

I only ever leave dark clothes out on the line overnight. I recklessly left my favourite, most comfortable, big white knickers on the line overnight one time and because they'd been darked on, they were definitely a light shade of grey the morning after. I did consider leaving them out in the sun to brighten them up again but I was mortified incase any of the neighbours saw my now grungy, comfy undies.
