I’m genuinely curious. How much money would have to disappear for you to notice?

1p, I'm poor and budget within an inch of my life so I would notice anything.

I am fortunate enough to be in a very different position and I would notice too.
I look at my banking app a few times a day and know what every payment is

Enko · 31/05/2025 18:27

Not a lot as i get notifications for each spend. If I dont recognise it then I check.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 31/05/2025 18:28

£0 - check regularly

MrsKeats · 31/05/2025 18:29

2p. We are fairly well off but I wasn’t years ago so still check my bank balance every day.

sunshineandshowers40 · 31/05/2025 18:31

Nothing. I get notifications for each transaction. I would question something I didn't recognise even if it was a small amount.

EveryDayisFriday · 31/05/2025 18:31

My personal current account 1p. I keep nothing in it, all in my savings.

All my other accounts; joint, savings and credit cards, I check at least every 2 days on my spreadsheet so would notice any discrepancy then.

RaraRachael · 31/05/2025 18:32

I'd notice anything as I check my accounts every day.

IwantmyReptv · 31/05/2025 18:37

Probably nothing. I check it most days. I had a random DD set up in error against my account and that was sorted out sharpish.

DeafLeppard · 31/05/2025 18:42

Nothing, I check my current account daily and have notifications any time anything changes.

kitchenplans · 31/05/2025 18:46

My current account and savings with the same provider, I'd know to the nearest £100, and I routinely check the app and scan transactions, so I reckon I'd pick fraud up fairly rapidly, within days.

My savings with other providers, I probably only know the balance to the nearest £10k per account, but we don't often move money out, so it'd be fairly easy to spot a rogue transaction.

OhcantthInkofaname · 31/05/2025 18:48

Bank accounts: anything over $5 on any account I get immediate notice.
Credit card one: I get noticed on any withdrawals.
Credit card two: I only use at Sams Club - so I am checking weekly. Its a low credit limit.

2025mustbebetter · 31/05/2025 18:49

I check it every few days. Not much because there's not much in it! Hut I would notice pretty quickly even a few pounds.

IDontDrinkTea · 31/05/2025 18:49

Honestly, probably quite a bit. I rarely check my bank - maybe once a month or so and usually that’s only because I’m setting up a payment.

Mikart · 31/05/2025 18:52

Zero. I check every day online

ditto

Jellycatspyjamas · 31/05/2025 19:01

I’d notice anything over £5 because I keep an eye on things pretty much daily.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 31/05/2025 19:05

I’d notice straight away if anything had gone out of my account that wasn’t me. I get notifications on any spending and I keep an eye on my account all the time.

ohtowinthelottery · 31/05/2025 17:57

None. I spotted a fraud of £29.99 the day it happened! It turned out to have been set up as a fraudulent monthly subscription, so lucky I queried it with the bank, who blocked the payment straight away.

Same here

I missed a £2 fishing amount and they started a £29.99 monthly subscription

Bank asked if I had been sent a passcode for it. I had. It was in my spam folder. I couldn't possibly have used it in the time frame even had I seen it, I was driving to a client and my phone was in my bag for about an hour untouched.

Be very vigilant, they're getting sneakier

countingthedays945 · 01/06/2025 21:22

I earn a decent salary (64k) but would notice even £1 going. I check the account daily.

DustyMaiden · 01/06/2025 21:23

Check on line banking every day.

WhereHasMyPlanetGone · 01/06/2025 21:24

I’d notice any transaction that I hadn’t made. I check my accounts at least once a day.

Loveduppenguin · 01/06/2025 21:25

Nothing. I check my account daily. All transactions have notifications.

Comefromaway · 01/06/2025 21:26

If it looked like something dh would reasonably spend then possibly several hundred.

otherwise I check the banking app most days so would notice anything strange.

CarrigDubh · 01/06/2025 21:27

Possibly a few hundred, but would very much depend. I check pretty often.

Weepixie · 01/06/2025 21:28

Nothing. I get a notification each time there’s a transaction and I always check it there and then.
