AllProperTeaIsTheft · 30/05/2025 13:27

Anything involving going underwater or up in the air! Or driving a large vehicle. Also anything medical. I'd also absolutely hate to be famous.

BristolDolly22 · 30/05/2025 13:37

Cave diver
Steeplejack
jockey
submariner

I could go on…this thread has made me realise how much of a coward I am 😆

princesspadam · 30/05/2025 13:49

Hairdresser if you cut it wrong you can’t stick it back on again

hyggetyggedotorg · 30/05/2025 14:07

An A list celebrity. It’s all fun & games when the media love you & things are going well but I couldn’t be doing with being photographed going to Tesco in my Crocs after putting a few pounds on 😖. Not because I care about people seeing me, but the cruel comments would be just that - cruel.

I also couldn’t be a high school teacher. Primary age kids or adult learners who want to be there, yes. But not a high school.

Not exactly a job, but I'd hate to be the parent of a child TV star. Just seeing some of the nasty comments made about the actors confirmed for Harry Potter this week...esp for the girl playing Hermione.

Edited

Isn’t she called something magnificent like Skywalker? Or am I thinking of something else….?

YetAnotherNewUserMoniker · 30/05/2025 14:15

Crane operator. Not sure what is worse, the prospect of getting up to that insanely high cabin or then having to sit there all day.

similarly, anyone building high buildings. Went up the orbit in the old Olympic park earlier this week and cannot imagine how people built and fixed it in place.

henlake7 · 30/05/2025 11:05

high pressure diver (where you had to live in a tin can 1000s of ft below the sea for months).
Or anything involving being down a cave or in a submarine.

People I can deal with....tiny spaces, not so much!

I came on to say exactly this. I've worked in prisons, rehab, social services, homeless shelters. People hold very little fear.

Tiny, pressurised spaces? <shudder>

Shellianotwheels · 30/05/2025 14:40

A nun. Knowing that some (not all but a lot) of my fellow nuns and priests have abused and raped young children and vulnerable adults for it to be covered up by the church would and does scare the shit out of me.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/05/2025 15:03

My current job. Machinery operative, we've had people skinned by machinery, burnt alive, lost fingers and hands, two people have hung themselves in my workplace.

Any job with machinery is terrifying. But someone has to do it.

coxesorangepippin · 30/05/2025 15:33

Public speaking

Anything working at heights or underground

spoonbillstretford · 30/05/2025 15:37

Window cleaner at the Eden Project.

Hope those guys are well-paid.

limecola · 30/05/2025 15:51

Not keen on flying or heights so anything like that I guess like skyscraper builder or pilot. There are a multitude of job's I'd not want to do but those would be what I'd be actually scared of.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 30/05/2025 11:17

Right now, Probation Officer… which I am 🙈 so much responsibility for so little pay! I witnessed a knife attack outside the office a few weeks ago and it really hit home how vulnerable we are seeing highly dangerous people with no real security!

Fellow PO here, completely agree! That sounds like it would have been really tough. It’s hard out there, I’ve moved into prison now and would definitely recommend it!
