I came on to put that. But only the OG Gilbert (I wonder how he looks in his 50s). DD (16) likes the 'new Gilbert' (Netflix series) who is not at all handsome but I guess a similar character (I couldn't watch it because they've changed the books too much). Oh, the changing perceptions of handsomeness!

But I don't like the actor in anything else and he does nothing for me when I've seen him interviewed!

If you binge watch the entire series, you notice he gets far more groomed and chic, and the costume department puts him in those good jumpers and the pea coat. And the hair gets much better cut! He’s much more bedraggled and ordinary-looking in the first season or two.

I agree Douglas Henshaw is very attractive as Perez, and that he’s far less so out of character. (Likewise Vigo Mortensen as Aragorn.)
