Please recommend me the most gripping and absorbing book that you can

I’ve lost my reading mojo. I need something easy to get into, absorbing and maybe thriller -ish but I’m open to genre on the whole.

The Woodcutter by Reginald Hill. Thriller. So well written.

I came on to suggest the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I listened to the audiobook and was completely engrossed!

I’m also just reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Very dark but very compelling. I think I might need a lighthearted read next 🙂

The audio book of ‘ all the light ‘ was lovely

American Dirt. Is traumatic but the opening chapter blew me away forgot to pick up my kid !

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles

We need to talk about Kevin is a brilliant book. And it’s not a thriller but Trust Me by Lesley Pearce is great.

We have always lived in the castle - Shirley Jackson.
It's only 176 pages so not too daunting.

We Need ti talk about Kevin is amazing but it wouldn’t be my pick for a reading slump.

I've enjoyed a few of these but American Dirt had real momentum and lots of action to keep you gripped.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Totally absorbing. It's so beautifully written, the words just glide over each other.

The Time Traveller's Wife

All the colours of the dark by Chris Whitaker. Incredible book.

For thrillers that had me gasping out loud, I recommend The Last Passenger and First Born by Will Dean. I also second None Of This is True, one of Lisa Jewell's best.

The Shack by William Young
Anything by Mitch Alborn

The latter two suggestions don't really fit into any category. So beautifully written. They are quite spiritual, very moving in places and make me really think after reading them, staying with me. I'd say they are life affirming.
