What's the most amount of showers you've ever had in one day? And how come?

ButteredRadishes · 15/05/2025 16:09

For me I think it was five!

  1. Shower in the morning getting up.
  2. went to the gym. Another shower.
  3. Swam after work - so showered there
  4. Managed to slip in some mud walking to house... and got my legs and hair covered in mud
  5. Went in garden for evening with kids and all that... and a bird pooed on my head and arm 😂

You?

You're in the minority, not showering/washing in the morning I should think.

Surely you are at least washing your face and hands (and teeth)

oh Dear op
talk about wilful misunderstanding

i shower in the morning

I do not shower BEFORE the gym when I know I’ll be showering AFTER

Natsku · 16/05/2025 07:26

If I have a long sauna session I will shower a few times to cool down before going back in. I think the record was 5 cool down showers plus a final shower when going to sauna at a work party, plus two showers when I went to sauna earlier in the evening plus my morning shower when I got up, so 9 altogether.

Non-sauna related I had 4 showers in one day - my morning one, then two at work after I had been transferring a massive sack of fumed silica into boxes and it got everywhere (despite wearing one of those white protective suits with hood up, gloves, mask etc.), was all in my hair so showered and washed hair twice at work, then again when I got home as I could still feel it in my hair. Horrid stuff.

Soyfinger · 16/05/2025 07:26

Given you say you smell in the mornings when you wake up, do you change your sheets daily?

Why would I get up and shower if I'm already clean? What a faff to shower, and then do my hair etc everyday before work?! I would much rather have the extra sleep or start work earlier so I can finish earlier.

If I knew I was going to the gym and or swimming I wouldn't bother showering to just do it again

I never find it a faff to shower when I get up, especially when I was going to work! Shower morning/evening every day.

haha this! I shower daily but there's no way I'd be showering before I went to the gym - thats just ridiculous.

I dont wake up smelly and if you do, OP, then something aint right.

I was asking a question.

What would happen?

Your phraseology suggested that they would not wash all day. I would say that was your intended summation. Especially as you have doubled down.
A person not intending that would have said “Oh no I’m sorry! I’m genuinely trying to understand. I didn’t mean to be rude”.

And then there’s you.

StMarie4me · 16/05/2025 07:52

Soyfinger · 16/05/2025 06:28

Please can you quote the person who said they “don’t wash”?

you won’t because you can’t

you admit you smell when you wake up op. So yes, please do carry on showering for the sake of the other gym goers

She means disabled people.

She made it quite clear.

Yes

and my point is, that’s good given you admit to smelling in the morning!

I am curious whether you change your sheets daily though

Annoyingsquirrels · 16/05/2025 07:58

Maybe 10 ish at a Center Parcs health spa where you shower after each sauna, steam room, pool plus there are rainfall showers.

Don't you sweat? Have no discharge at all?

A faff? It's like 5 minutes!

Presumably you at LEAST wash your hands and face in the morning?

Edited

No, not everyone. I don’t shower every morning because I don’t want to and I don’t need to. I don’t sweat at night or “have discharge”. I also don’t brush my teeth until after breakfast because I cleaned them when I went to bed and they don’t sweat either.

Perhaps you could try to accept that not everyone is the same as you. It can be very useful in life.

You should brush your teeth in the morning before you eat though, that's what dentists advise.

People seem amazed that I showered before gym?

Doesn't everyone get up and shower?

I wouldn't want to be unshowered when I'm going somewhere other people will be. It wouldn't be fair to them.

Getting up and going to gym without showering is normal, in my view, if it's an early morning session.

Perfectlystill · 16/05/2025 08:23

Three because of exercise. I think your list is mad - why on earth shower before the gym? And that last one, I'd have just washed the affected areas. Do you have a hygiene obsession or was that a one-off day?

Perfectlystill · 16/05/2025 08:24

Going to the gym first thing without a shower is fine. Why not? Surely you don't actually smell?

CheeseWisely · 16/05/2025 09:14

@ButteredRadishes Having a shower in the morning yes probably the majority do. Personally I sometimes have one in the morning, sometimes in the evening. Sometimes depending on the circumstances (you might want to grab your pearls to clutch here) not at all for a whole day.

As for having a shower in the morning immediately before going to the gym, I suspect you’re on your own there. What an absolute waste of time, water, soap, laundry for the towels…

Not in my mind. Id go out to other people being quite whiffy. Sometimes I'm giving a friend a lift on the way. Sometimes I might have a coffee before hand. I really don't think it's dreadful that I wash upon rising.

It's not "dreadful" but you seem not to get that not all of us wake up stinking. If you shower adequately and wash properly during the day it's not really normal to wake up in the morning noticeably smelly. If this is the case do you change your bed sheets daily? because otherwise, you are just getting back into a stinky bed every evening....

I also shower before the gym for the very same reasons.

I don’t even shower every day. Top n tail on non-shower days. No one has ever said I smell and I’ve shared rooms with friends on holiday etc. All have wanted to go with me again.
Really don’t understand the current obsession with showering. Washes all the natural oils away from your skin.
I’d rather have a thorough shower every two days, hair wash and then moisturise my whole body.

Gettingbysomehow · 16/05/2025 11:51

I haven't been allowed to shower at all for two weeks post major surgery. I can have a shower on Wednesday. I can't wait.
I'm sure I smell bad. Strip washes are not enough.

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-teeth-and-gums/how-to-keep-your-teeth-clean/

"Brush your teeth for about 2 minutes last thing before you go to bed and on 1 other occasion every day."

For me, this is after breakfast, to remove remnants of food and plaque.

Well it's not just 5 minutes to wash my hair, then it's 20-30mins to dry and do my hair. It all adds up and is unnecessary. I don't sweat at night, not sure what you mean by discharge? I wash my face in the morning, I don't wash my hands just because I've woken up...what are your hands doing at night that need instant washing when you wake up?
