What's the most amount of showers you've ever had in one day? And how come?

For me I think it was five!

  1. Shower in the morning getting up.
  2. went to the gym. Another shower.
  3. Swam after work - so showered there
  4. Managed to slip in some mud walking to house... and got my legs and hair covered in mud
  5. Went in garden for evening with kids and all that... and a bird pooed on my head and arm 😂

You?

I'll still shower when I get up thanks

if you say you hum, then it’s for the best

Seven. Hot flushes and peri floods in a heatwave.

Cannot recommend.

Me too. It was horrible.

One particular day each week I take 3 normally but could be up to 5.
Wake up and go for a run ( agreed, if it were to the gym I would shower but I'm not arsed about being whiffy out in nature)
Get home shower and take dc to swimming lessons- always shower post swimming, sometimes pre as well if I've got particularly sweaty on the way or if one of us is smothered in sun cream and then sometimes if DC is really grizzly or I've forgotten my shampoo I will have to have another one to wash my hair at home. Ideally I'd not wash it at all but I swear the swim teacher purposely orchestrates the lessons so the parents get their hair wet.
Then late afternoon I go to the gym and shower after before going to work. I do often think about how mad this is for water waste but in my defence my showers are very very quick.

Is it wasting water though? It's just keeping clean, a human necessity!

It's not like you're running the shower when you're not in it or whilst you rearrange the towels or something.

Three yesterday actually:

First after I woke up after a late night of travelling

Second quickly after my Turkish bath to get the oil off, and to wet my hair for hair mask

Third and final was to wash the hair mask off and get ready for dinner

TroysMammy · 15/05/2025 19:33

3 - one on waking up at home before travelling, the second when arrived at the hotel before going out, the third before going to bed. I like to get my monies worth at a Travelodge.

ButteredRadishes · 15/05/2025 19:01

🤷‍♀️

I just assumed everyone got up, showered, brush teeth etc

Why would I get up and shower if I'm already clean? What a faff to shower, and then do my hair etc everyday before work?! I would much rather have the extra sleep or start work earlier so I can finish earlier.

If I knew I was going to the gym and or swimming I wouldn't bother showering to just do it again

ladygindiva · 15/05/2025 20:16

Three or four probably , have regularly had to do this because of period flooding. I WFH so perfectly doable if not too busy a day.

Blueeeee · 15/05/2025 20:23

4 in a day, we were sightseeing in Berlin and it was so hot and muggy.

  1. The usual morning shower
  2. Came back to our apartment for lunch, showered and changed
  3. Went out, got sweaty again so showered and went out again
  4. Quick bedtime shower to wash the day off
Normally I have 1 to 2 showers. Once if I didn't leave the house or do anything to get dirty or sweaty. Twice if I went out because I use public transport and I feel so grubby after plus I sweat a lot!

How whiffy are you?

so when you get to the gym are you sickened by everyone? Because the majority if not all will not have showered BEFORE the gym

Edited

Anything like the gyms I've been at, yes, sometimes you are. I've been downwind of people (well, men, never encountered a women at the gym that thinks a spray of Lynx three days ago is an adequate replacement for soap and water) on the treadmills and had to cut short what I was doing to then go from machine to machine avoiding the miasma surrounding them.

Blueeeee · 15/05/2025 20:35

I think in summer it's not that rare to shower 3 times. Morning, midday then before bed too cool off. Humidity feels so gross on skin.

Oh come on..., everyone showers in the morning , surely??
Don't you sweat? Have no discharge at all?

A faff? It's like 5 minutes!

Presumably you at LEAST wash your hands and face in the morning?

Decapitatedsausage · 15/05/2025 21:21

I just went into hospital and had radioactive iodine treatment where you sweat out the radiation, I showered 5 times a day then to get out of isolation quicker!

I don’t shower before the gym though, I’m going to get smelly very quickly anyway?! I might be a bit minging by your standards though as if I have a shower the night before and I’m not really doing anything then I wouldn’t shower necessarily shower in the morning again 🙈

CheeseWisely · 15/05/2025 21:28

I’d say the most I’ve had in one day is probably 2, but the longest shower I’ve had was 45 minutes and it was the best shower I’ve ever had. I’d spent 5 hours in an airport, then left the airport and got a bus to the harbour, spent 12 hours on the floor of a ferry, 2 hours on a coach, another few in an airport and then a 6 hour flight. When I arrived in Dubai, with a 10 hour flight still ahead of me I paid for a shower in a lounge (they had free public showers in the terminal but not being prepared for this hugely extended journey I had no towels or toiletries in my hand luggage so paid for one that provided everything). It was DIVINE. It’s my Roman Empire 😂

JaninaDuszejko · 15/05/2025 21:41

Depends what you count as a shower. I swim in the morning so have to stand under the shower for 30 seconds or so to wet myself before I get in the pool but don't use soap or shampoo. Does that count? I don't think so. Then I shower with soap and wash my hair after my swim before I go to work. That's it normally unless it's very hot in which case I sometimes shower before bed to cool down or if I was going out out in the evening I'd shower as part of getting ready. So a very unexciting twice a day at most.

ButteredRadishes · 15/05/2025 18:57

But what would you do if you got sweaty/dirty like i did? Just not wash the whole day?

My god this is ableist.

Many disabled people cannot shower daily. It is too much.

How bloody rude you are.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 15/05/2025 22:23

@StMarie4me
Thank you! Some people can’t imagine others live with less than ideal circumstances
The OP would drop down dead if she knew I’d managed for a year with strip washes( had to wait for my wetroom to be fitted)
I was perfectly clean and groomed

I would not. Grow up

Washing in whatever way is fine.

But some people just don't wash apparently.

I used to live in a very hot and humid part of the world that didn't have much air con. it wasn't uncommon to have one upon waking, one if I could nip home at lunch time, one when I got home from work, and 1 before bed. That was when I could handle the heat. Now, when I've been in similar conditions and am struggling to sleep, I would add midnight cold baths to the list!

Now you've reminded me of living in a tropical climate! I was going to say five, thinking of working days when I went to the gym at lunchtime, then for a swim after and out for a drink after that. But in the hot place where I lived, also with limited air con and much walking outdoors, it was normal for people to offer a shower when visiting. What with showering a few times at home, maybe one on the beach and seeing friends, there must've been days when I showered seven or more times.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 15/05/2025 23:12

Probably when I was on holiday somewhere hot and showering after the pool etc

Please can you quote the person who said they “don’t wash”?

you won’t because you can’t

you admit you smell when you wake up op. So yes, please do carry on showering for the sake of the other gym goers

Soyfinger · 16/05/2025 06:30

Me? My husband? Anyone I have ever woken up with doesn’t, as you admit you do, “hum” in the morning. By that I presume, stink.

so that explains why you do, and most don’t op.

crack on I say

Ollybob · 16/05/2025 06:38

Generally just one, in the summer it can often be 2 but the most I had must have been when I had horrific food poisoning, simultaneously being sick and shitting for several hours, I'll spare the details 😂

You're in the minority, not showering/washing in the morning I should think.

Surely you are at least washing your face and hands (and teeth)
