Your ideal day if you could do absolutely anything?

lighthearted. I have two very young babies 14 months and 3 months so I’m just sitting in the garden day dreaming about my perfect day.

what would your perfect day be? What would you choose to do for a full 12 hours.

i honestly can’t decide if i would book a spa day and spend the day completely alone or if I’d go to a theme park and have a full day of fun with my husband.

I've got an energetic 2 & a half year old and some medical issues so I would 100% sleep 😂

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 14/05/2025 15:08

I'd love to spend the day at an old-fashioned chalet-style holiday park I've been going to for nigh on 50 years. Trouble is, they bulldozed the whole lot flat during Covid and replaced the whole lot with caravans.

So basically I'd like to go back in time for a day please.

PraisebetoGod · 14/05/2025 15:09

Absolutely nothing!

alcoholnightmare · 14/05/2025 15:10

Spa day for me

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 14/05/2025 15:14

I would spend the first part of the morning on the terrace at Botanico San lazzaro hotel in Italy as they have the most amazing breakfast with lots of different fish and fruits and a glass of perfectly chilled fizz.

I'd then want to play tennis for a few hours, but somewhere sunny but not too hot.

Then laze by the pool reading a book for a couple of hours.

Follow that with a nice alfresco dinner somewhere with lots of fresh seafood and melon cocktails.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 14/05/2025 15:15

I need a teleporter though.

UrbanMonstrosity · 14/05/2025 15:23

Firstly, I need a good steady sunny day with temps around 24c with a light cool breeze (I do think this is really important)
A nice long forest hike in the morning, somewhere for a nice lunch, then home to read and potter.
Then out with friends in a City with some good food and night life.
Home to bed where dh and dc are safe and sound when a thunderstorm starts.
(The next day, I’d spend with family of course)
I know you probably only asking for activities but I like to fantasize well.

smileymylie25 · 14/05/2025 15:23

@GargoylesofBeelzebub All the fish and seafood in your day makes me want to join you I think

I would spend a lovely day at home tidying, cleaning and organising.

PartyAnimalQueen · 14/05/2025 15:33

Wake up around 11
Grab a starbies
Go paddleboarding or surfing
Take a nap
Have a barbie (chunks of steak, belly pork, corn cobs, seafood)
Listen to music and draw until it was time to fall asleep again (probs 2/3 in morning)

Edited to fix spellings

Heyyoupleasekeepgoing · 14/05/2025 15:34

I would have brunch in Notting Hill, a nice long wander down to the Chelsea Physic Garden, then back to Piccadilly for bookshop/ fortnums browsing before afternoon tea and an evening walk in Hyde Park

Heyyoupleasekeepgoing · 14/05/2025 15:35

I really miss London obviously 😂

NetballHoop · 14/05/2025 15:37

I'd get up and have a swim around my tropical island before coffee and croissants.

Then I'd take the lift from my Manhatten loft down to street level where a car would be waiting to whisk me away to a tour of the museums (which will of course be empty).
Lunch will be at a little place I know in Rome followed by a good long walk in the Highlands ending up in a pub where my book is waiting for me by the fire.
Evening meal of seafood in Santiago and then cocktails on the beach before sleep and repeating again tomorrow.

I assume you can sort the logistics for me.

I’m glad someone said this! I agree this would be a very enjoyable and satisfying day!

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 14/05/2025 16:00

I'm doing mine on Friday. Basically I've taken a days annual leave and told no-one.

DP and DD will think I've gone to work, work won't expect me because I've got a day off.

I'll leave the house at my usual time and go on a nice long bike ride in the morning, find a nice cooked breakfast somewhere. My route back takes me past a bookshop, whereby I'll find a nice new book to read and then spend the afternoon in a pub garden with a good book. I'll head home for about 5:30 and roll in slightly tipsy, claiming that we went down the pub with work for a few hours. DP and DD will exchange knowing looks at each other, knowing that I've just had my annual mental health day.

MiloMinderbinder925 · 14/05/2025 16:18

I'd go to the beach. Bring a lounge chair and a picnic. Watch the water, drink some tea, read. Then go to a pub and have some dinner.

VenusClapTrap · 14/05/2025 16:35

I’d spend it on a white sand beach in Mauritius. Somebody would bring me freshly squeezed pineapple juice at regular intervals, and the occasional ice cream. I would snorkel for a while then read under a palm tree.

For lunch I’d pop to le Chateau de Bel Ombré, then sit on the verandah there for an hour or so through the heat of the day.

I can’t decide if I’d rather be completely alone, or with my family, or with a group of my closest friends. Maybe morning on my own, lunch with the family, evening sundowner cocktails with my friends. Yes, that would be just perfect.

growinguptobreakingdown · 14/05/2025 16:42

I think I just had mine. Both teens are happy with exams today .I cooked dinner for tonight by 10am , then mowed the lawns, tidied up the garden. Did some washing and put it on the line. Sat in my swingy garden chair with the dog having a cuddle and reading in the sun .DD2 came home and we chatted in the garden. Fell asleep on my sunlounger after changing all the bedding in the house. DD1 came home happy and I gave her early dinner which shd finished. I'm going to have a cold glass of wine around 630pm back on the sun lounger. England is perfect when the weather is good and I'm not working.

coxesorangepippin · 14/05/2025 16:46

Wandering around NYC, stopping for coffee then a wine maybe

Maybe a museum

CarpetKnees · 14/05/2025 17:35

I'd be on one of Wales's beautiful beaches with my extended family.
Picnic. Paddling (for me, most of them would swim), sandcastles, cricket, starting to read a book but not getting far as I'd be people watching, ice-cream.
Then pack up the car and wander into town for fish and chips on the front.
Obviously it would be weather like we have today - sunny, but a gentle breeze.

GnomeDePlume · 14/05/2025 17:44

My perfect day would be spending the morning on our allotment and the afternoon in my sewing room.

4 years 7 months until retirement and this is what I plan to be doing.

DustyMaiden · 14/05/2025 17:48

Yesterday was pretty good. Walked into town with DH stopped for tea at a little cafe. Went swimming. Went to a restaurant for lunch. Walked home. Spent the afternoon doing a painting. I love retirement.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 14/05/2025 18:03

Alone. Sleep in. Coffee in bed, then out for an indulgent breakfast. Long walk along the beach (obviously I’d have to be away from home for this, as nowhere near the coast) with the dog (ok, alone except for the dog). Fish and chips on the beach when I got hungry. Have a mooch around some second hand shops, bookshops, antique shops. Head to the pub for a gin and tonic and a read of my book. Back to whenever I’m staying for some wine, and nothing more than a bowl of peanuts for dinner (such a treat not to have to worry about making a meal for everyone). Watch something comforting - probably the two Mamma Mia films back to back, so I can sing along - then to bed.

I actually did this a couple of years ago when both kids were away on a school trip. It was bliss. I long for a repeat…

readingismycardio · 14/05/2025 18:17

Oh wow! I only have the 14 mo old and I could run for the hills. You rock, OP! I’d sleep alllllll day
