My DH has suggested we go on holiday with his parents, brother and SIL this summer but they can be controlling, and I like doing my own thing.

Do you have an answer to add?
(Feel like I didn't make the game clear.)

‘Fancy going on a 20 mile hike?’

Ihaveneedofwaternear · 09/05/2025 12:03

Maybe you should get a cleaner?

FloraBotticelli · 09/05/2025 12:05

My MIL wants to kiss my baby

SlugsWon · 09/05/2025 12:07

My neighbour has knocked on my door, uninvited, and asked to borrow a spoon of sugar. It is 5:55 pm and my curtains are drawn. She has been known to edge her wheels onto my drive when reversing her car. I have plenty of sugar but not impressed with her CF behavior!! What do I say??

ScottBakula · 09/05/2025 12:07

My distant cousin wants me to pay for his wedding.

SwanOfThoseThings · 09/05/2025 12:13

My entire extended family of 37 people want to come round for dinner tomorrow. I gave birth to my baby 5 minutes ago and a sinkhole has just opened up outside our house.

My best friend who I haven’t seen for 20 years wants me to organise her hen party in Australia and get me and three other women who I have never met to cover her costs as she is the hen

localhere · 09/05/2025 12:21

What is this in my toilet? (Pics included)

BobbyBiscuits · 09/05/2025 12:22

My in laws have pressured me into hosting an elaborate party for a distant family member I barely know. They're now insisting we book Peter Andre as the entertainment. I'm much more of a Katie Price fan and she's more within my budget.

What do you think I should say to them as I don't want to disappoint the whole group of 75 people?

Knittedfairies2 · 09/05/2025 12:24

Is 'no' really a complete sentence?

quantumbutterfly · 09/05/2025 12:29

I have a very short attention span and find it punishing to sit through traditional Japanese theatre performances, what are your views?

My husband just asked me to pick up a birthday card for his mother whilst I was at the shops.

Shetlands · 09/05/2025 12:41

Three years ago, one of DD's classmates turned up unexpectedly to her 7th birthday party so she didn't get a party bag as I didn't have spares. The child's mother is now demanding I pay for the 3 years of therapy her child has undergone in order to deal with the crushing disappointment and related trauma. What should I say to her?

BangersAndGnash · 09/05/2025 12:43

My friend since Uni has asked me to dinner. she was slightly unenthusiastic about my baby name choice (Bertie-Frills) so I don’t feel she is on my side. What excuse can I make?

I want all my bridesmaids to come on a Buddhist retreat in Uzbekistan as my hen weekend. The plan is we will also spend a day at a traditional embroidery class and make our own wedding and bridesmaids outfits. One of my bridesmaids has said she can’t make the trip but would still love to be a bridesmaid. Is this fair? Should I accommodate her wishes? How can I explain that I think it unfair we will have to make her tunic for her?

No.

drspouse · 09/05/2025 13:03

Totally didn't make this clear, did I?
You provide a classic Mumsnet answer. The next poster gives the question it is the answer to.
Then they give a new answer, and so on.

Ok, next answer:
Tell him you're going on a spa day.

My MIL has offered to buy my baby nappies, I just feel like she’s really encroaching on our family life. What should I say?

Interesting question to which the answer is "Tell him you're going on a spa day" but ok!

What's your answer that needs a question?

quantumbutterfly · 09/05/2025 13:43

quantumbutterfly · 09/05/2025 13:43

That was my classic mn answer btw.

Yes.

Am I being too sensitive?

drspouse · 09/05/2025 13:53
