Question about men

TheAmusedQuail · 06/05/2025 21:36

Do men ever genuinely get the ick? No affair or lusting after anyone else, but actually get that vommy disgust, can't bear the thought of sex with them, about their woman, that sooooooooooo many of us get about them.

Yes they do

TheTecknician · 06/05/2025 23:12

I have yet to find out.

PollyCreo · 06/05/2025 23:33

Not as much as women do. My ex colleague is shagging a woman 30 years older than him because she's wealthy 🤑 He doesn't care, he's in it for the money.

WorthyOtter · 07/05/2025 00:00

Don't think so, don't think they even notice anything half the time 😄

Well I don't think Melania Trump chose to marry Donald Trump for his good looks, charm and personality.

coxesorangepippin · 07/05/2025 01:38

I'd say so yes, surely

FoxesBisQuit · 07/05/2025 01:55

Yes, I’m sure they do and thinking about people I know, it seems men have put up with the ick longer until they have lined up a replacement.

BlondiePortz · 07/05/2025 02:28

Well I presume some may, I know it is hard for MN to get this idea but not all women and men think the same

I mean a man does one thing wrong a woman gets the 'ick' the woman is told to get rid, kick him out and take him for all his worth as their own use is as a bank or for their sperm

a man gets the 'ick' and leaves women are told to cut up all their clothes and 'OMG how devastating it must be how can he do that you, does he not know you are a saint and the best mother in the world he does not deserve you'

But it depends,

DracunculusVulgaris · 07/05/2025 03:13

Yes! Most definitely! 'Ick' is a horrible word, but the sentiment and feeling is not exclusive to women, not by a long way...

TomPinch · 07/05/2025 03:50

Yes (being a man who has had the ick)

VoltaireMittyDream · 07/05/2025 03:56

Yes, a couple of men I know have spoken of the ick, in not so many words.

TheAmusedQuail · 07/05/2025 10:54

@PollyCreo this was my interpretation. Even when my relationships have been dead in the water the bloke has still wanted sex.

@1dayatatime oh I know some women have sex for reasons other than pleasure. Totally.

OK, fair enough. I've never had an ex with the ick. They all wanted sex until the day we separated (and after). Whereas for me the ick is 100% final. Can't bear the thought of even an air kiss. They literally turn my stomach. And I get the ick so easily too as do so many other women it seems.

But the ick isn't so much what they do as something that turns off the sexual attraction. So he can be an arse but sex is still possible. Whereas a nice bloke can still give the ick. And there's no coming back from it.

Still having sex with the ick? How is it possible? Sex with someone who physically disgusts you?

Yes I’ve known men who refuse sex with their wives/partners because of the ick, and usually end up having affairs but not always.
Interestingly they never give in to sex to keep the peace like so many women do. You’d think it would be the men who do that.

If a man gets the ick with a person he'll avoid sex with them as he'll know he won't get an erection.

True
it just goes against what we thought that men would rather have sex with someone than with no-one.

But this can happen to men too yet when they break up with a woman becuase of it they are called every name under the sun

I think they're only called every name under the sun when they have an affair while still married and then leave the old relationship for a new one. That is always a twats trick, and unfortunately, men often only leave when the new woman is in place.

If he's an arsehole, he's an arsehole.

If he's just unhappily married, that is very different. But shagging a new one while the old one is still around? Nah.

Yeah, we do

User135644 · 08/05/2025 10:33

They just lose the ability of arousal. Either they can get it up or they can't.

Oldandcobwebby · 08/05/2025 10:34

Yes, absolutely.

That's not an absence of ick, it,'s mind over matter! Have to admire the work ethic involved!

I think a lot of men get the "ick" once the relationship isn't new and exciting and they start getting their head turned.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 08/05/2025 10:39

@TheAmusedQuail so if you are turned off a person that's it, they are gone. Even the father of your children? I think in most marriages or long term relationships it's normal to go through phases where you cannot feel attracted to the other person. It's not realistic to find someone a turn on for 50 years.

For me, yes, not being able to be physically intimate has led to the end of my relationships. But that is probably more to do with my partner being unwilling to remain in a relationship that has no sex. I can't physically have sex with someone that disgusts me (I know this because I've tried when trying to maintain the relationship).
