When is it acceptable to eat your childs Easter eggs?

DD 4.5 received 3 large easter eggs and about 8 mini ones (egg hunt size) for easter.

Its now 2 weeks later and 2 full size ones and 7 of the mini ones still remain. After the initial interest in them shes not asked about easter chocolate for about a week and a half. When is it acceptable for me to eat them? Or do I just have to sit and look at them for months ubtil they're inedible, or am I meant to remind her of them?

I'm still tucking into my 2 kids Christmas chocolate 😂

I'm looking forward to eating the rest of their Easter eggs in a couple more weeks...

dairydebris · 03/05/2025 20:25

Polished my kids' off on day 3. Hats off to you and your willpower.

Three days ago from my experience.

Right now. I've just actually snuck one

Nevertrustacop · 03/05/2025 20:27

You ask her if she's done with them. You NEVER just help yourself.

You ask her if she's done with them. You NEVER just help yourself.

But then she'll remember them and want them herself!

You can definitely have one of the small ones now.

Move to a cupboard for a few days, if she doesn't mention them you can eat your way through them (slowly incase she suddenly remembers).

I've eaten my DC M&M Easter egg today. He got so much chocolate that he's got loads left including one he opened on Easter Sunday and is still in the box half eaten. It's a lot of chocolate for them and I don't think it's a bad thing to eat it!

Fragmentedbrain · 03/05/2025 20:29

They're barely aware they are human just eat them

Iammatrix · 03/05/2025 20:31

Funny, I asked my DGD, 13 how long it took her and her DB, 6 to eat all of their Easter eggs. She told me in great detail how many and when exactly her DM and DF had eaten them.

They actually had to hide some from their DPs.

She did also tell me how DM had shared all of her Mother’s Day chocolates with them.

Your kid is 4.5. I’m no puritan but the way I see it, they really shouldn’t eat that much chocolate anyway. Neither should I but that’s another story! You’re doing your duty by eating some 😉

My 1 year old got given 6 eggs and a large chocolate bunny! I know people are being kind but really I can’t possibly give them to him !! He has had a small taste and the rest…

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 03/05/2025 20:37

Could you use them to bake cookies/ Brownies with her?

LividRah · 03/05/2025 20:42

I put one in the fridge with the label not showing. He instantly forgot it.

Nearly ate it tonight but had some Galaxy instead. I absolutely won’t be reminding him of it.

AngelicCurls · 03/05/2025 20:46

They will remember they have them just after you’re polishing the last of them off in my experience

TheChosenTwo · 03/05/2025 20:46

Just waiting for someone to say it’s stealing from your kids 😂

My 3 always broke up their eggs and put them together in one big Tupperware box for general sharing. They were more interested in the treats and bars that came with the eggs anyway and the little bits from the hunts.
The eggs have been in their Tupperware in the fridge for ages and I don’t think anyone has eaten any of it - they are also happy for adults to eat some but none of us have. I do sometimes but not this far in 2025.

Hdjdb42 · 03/05/2025 21:04

You could ask her if she wants you to break one up for her and share with her? That's what I usually do.

DatingDinosaur · 03/05/2025 21:10

Just eat them.

HeatedBlanketAllYear · 03/05/2025 21:51

That’s a lot of chocolate for such a small child. Who may or may not be great at counting…
I think you could sneak a little one and agree to share a larger one when she’s awake.
And thank you for reminding me that my Dc’s have got a huge amount in their bedrooms that won’t survive this warm weather. I feel obliged to rescue some now.

MummytoE · 03/05/2025 21:55

Childhood obesity and tooth decay are very serious matters. You must save your children from these ills. Be a good mother and eat their Easter eggs it's the responsible thing to do.

TwinklyNight · 03/05/2025 23:11

Chop em up and bake sweet treats from them with your dd. With her consent.

Gowlett · 03/05/2025 23:14

I just found a pack of Crème Eggs in the fridge. All mine!

oohyoudevilyou · 03/05/2025 23:18

When they're in bed or at grandma's

CookingFatCat · 03/05/2025 23:58

Chocolate keeps a long time, just ration it and let her have the chocolate she was given.
If there was an adult in the same situation would you take their chocolate??

Intranslation · 04/05/2025 00:19

Just be glad that they are not interested in the chocolate. Bin or eat them yourself or offer a small amount as pudding.

WorthyOtter · 04/05/2025 00:40

My 7 month old son somehow got 3 Easter eggs from family members, already ate them myself
