Well good evening... I'll start without too much pomp and circumstance (because they cancelled the b*stard elephant). No I am fine, I AM FINE.

And find myself on the platform at Blackfriars... not sure if I am heading east or west...

I couldn’t see the former minister as a player of this game. On other types of amusement in which he may have partaken, I couldn’t comment...

Goodge Street

Good to see you again, DuckOnABike.

I think we should all remember that anyone can make an error of judgement and it is to their credit if they afterwards make amends by doing good works. Those players of the game of games involved in redecorating the Bridlington scout hut after that sorry business with the brass band and the consignment of meringues will be acutely aware of this, I’m sure.

Turnpike Lane

LlynTegid · 05/07/2025 09:22

A good brass band was a part of the introduction at the 1955 tournament. The one where someone tried to move to Brill without invoking the closed station rule.

A move to Down Street with said closed station rule.

DuckonaBike · 05/07/2025 12:32

I love a good brass band! Still feel slightly bad about that incident with the Salvation Army band and the 2002 tournament though. I think some of them were rather shocked.

Following Llyn’s subtle move, I’m heading to Westminster.

TragicMuse · 05/07/2025 12:58

I’m afraid I’m about to drive a horse and cart though all that subtlety and care!

Edgware Road

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/07/2025 09:42

Euston Square.

Don’t ask, don’t tell.

LlynTegid · 06/07/2025 11:08

The bus replacement rule comes to our aid as the Metropolitan line is closed today and takes us to Willesden Green.

LittleBitofBread · 09/07/2025 16:25

LlynTegid · 02/07/2025 17:03

I was not aware of the curate's great aunt. The one in my family (long since deceased) I suspected was a formidable player of the game of games, and woe betide anyone who incorrectly stated where she came from.

Northwood Hills

She's a hoot, especially after a couple of gin and its.

LittleBitofBread · 09/07/2025 16:27

Maud, that incident in Bridlington has certainly gone down in history. Or infamy, anyway. It did rather put me off pavlovas for a while, I have to say.

I'm making a pretty straightforward Parkinson's Line to Mile End

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 09/07/2025 22:13

Well, she’s not the only one who becomes, shall we say, vivacious after a gin and it, is she? But I agree that, however much they may claim that what happens in Bridlington, stays in Bridlington, the long legacy of that incident proves that it does not. I don’t want to reopen old wounds, mental or otherwise, so instead will offer a downward Cokethorpe to

Poplar.

LlynTegid · 10/07/2025 18:23

I think a short move to East India DLR will keep us away from any more gins.

LittleBitofBread · 11/07/2025 11:07

Good heavens, I hadn't thought of a Cokethorpe. Congratulations on that,Maud.
I'll essay an Abbreviated Turn to Kentish Town.

TragicMuse · 11/07/2025 11:14

I am taking the gift you’ve presented there @LittleBitofBread…

Mornington Crescent!

LittleBitofBread · 11/07/2025 11:16

Oh, splendid, Muse!
I do see now what I did, but I also rather thought the Blacke's conundrum that was set up earlier might mitigate.
Live and learn, eh.

Congratulations, and please do kick us off anew.

TragicMuse · 11/07/2025 11:31

Blacke’s conundrum is always, well, a conundrum! But High Barnet branch on a weekday tends to push it banks-wards.

Kicking off with A Jolly Jaunt to St James’s Park.

Picnics ahoy!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/07/2025 14:24

Oh, brava! Clearly my Cokethorpe was good but not good enough. Continuing the verdant theme, I present

Kew Gardens

LlynTegid · 11/07/2025 17:18

So it was only a two month game, not like the 11 month one that saw my debut on MN.

Chiswick Park

DuckonaBike · 11/07/2025 20:32

Very nice, Tragic. Now let’s keep it stylish with a Volage Prism to Putney Bridge. It’s good to be back!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 11/07/2025 23:31

Oh, I say. Prisms have a dangerous tendency to send subsequent players into knockings, but I think I can circumvent that with a lateral downshunt to

London Bridge

LlynTegid · 13/07/2025 16:02

I think the Jubilee line can help us here. Onwards and upwards we go to Neasden.

LittleBitofBread · 14/07/2025 10:25

Llyn, that reminded me unavoidably of Teignmouth that time when the vice chair was, let's say, relishing her new role and power rather a lot, and refused exit to anyone who couldn't come up with a solution to the Mersea Problem.
They Shoot Horses, Don't They? came to mind.

In much more sprightly and less compelled fashion, I'm going to say Manor House.

DuckonaBike · 16/07/2025 19:40

I remember the incident, LittleBitofBread (have we met before, by the way? I suspect so). I did say at the time that the term vice chair had been taken all too literally.

A deep dive to Southfields

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/07/2025 20:33

Ah. The vice chair. Last seen in the dock of the Old Bailey with their co-accused: the principal oboist, the chair of the select committee and the lord lieutenant. All the result of that tiny misunderstanding. So sad.

But let’s not dwell.

Turnham Green

LlynTegid · 17/07/2025 07:57

West London can seem a long way from the centre and the said Old Bailey. Let us remain so and move to Northfields.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 21/07/2025 13:02

At first glance, this may look obvious, but beware the hidden trap:

Southfields
