Well good evening... I'll start without too much pomp and circumstance (because they cancelled the b*stard elephant). No I am fine, I AM FINE.

And find myself on the platform at Blackfriars... not sure if I am heading east or west...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/06/2025 21:07

Ooh. That sets me up nicely for a southbound universal to

Brixton

So glad you could join us, TheWatersofMarch!

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 17/06/2025 19:04

Indeed it was that Fiona, couldn’t be the other one, given her new found role as Mother Superior of Our Lady of Perpetual Indignation and successor to Senor Escobar. Both game old birds, you got into a game with them, a crate of Barley Wine, Marianne Faithful and dear old Molly Parkin and you’d be a pony lighter and wake up in...
Turkey Street.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/06/2025 22:06

Indeed, those were the days. Costumes by Zandra Rhodes, don’t forget, even though either or both of the Fionas might be naked by the end of one of their notorious but always oversubscribed games of strip MC.

Kilburn High Road

Shybaldbuddhist · 17/06/2025 22:29

Good lord. Strip MC! Perish the thought, though one tries to be broad minded, it is such a challenge at times.

I shall try to put such distractions from my mind, as I venture forth with a rather conventional hoopla (as per subsection 3.1 of the Queensbury appendix) over to Finchley Road & Frognal

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/06/2025 23:28

I never attended those evenings, you must understand, as they took place in a rather recherché speakeasy at the unfashionable end of the Metropolitan line, but I know the Colonel was a fan.

Camden Town

LittleBitofBread · 18/06/2025 09:55

I've never met a speakeasy of which the Colonel was NOT a fan. There are a few in which his presence is not encouraged, mind you.
I am very much enjoying the pace of this game: bracing.
I feel inspired and invigorated enough to try an Andersen to Chalk Farm

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/06/2025 11:46

Well, quite. The Colonel always claimed that his visits to seedy dives across the metropolis were part of his work for the council, assessing their rateable value, but nobody ever fell for that. Let’s keep this game moving with a long spindle to

Osterley

TragicMuse · 18/06/2025 12:34

Oh it’s a while since I saw a spindle, let alone a long one. Brava, Maud.

When it comes to matter recherchè one can only respond with a broad reach to High Barnet.

LlynTegid · 18/06/2025 19:08

Woodside Park so a walk along the brook on this warm evening.

LittleBitofBread · 19/06/2025 10:00

I'm definitely in the presence of greatness here.
I feel somewhat inadequate in suggesting this, I think it will at least help us avoid Pinscher's Problem:
Snaresbrook

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/06/2025 10:38

Au contraire, LittleBitofBread. That deft circumvention of Pinscher’s Problem reveals you to be a player of the very highest calibre (not that it was ever in doubt).

I’m feeling frolicsome, so will essay a vertical splice to

Russell Square

LittleBitofBread · 20/06/2025 11:22

Too kind, Maud, as always.
I will simply say
White City

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/06/2025 00:34

I speak as I find, LittleBitofBread. But it’s got very quiet in here again, so I’m bringing in the big battalions: a demi-lunge to

Maida Vale

TragicMuse · 24/06/2025 09:32

I have given this hours of careful consideration. Hours.

Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3

LittleBitofBread · 24/06/2025 09:54

Big guns indeed!
I need to raise my game.

An intersected leftward Watt to Boston Manor

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/06/2025 12:04

Gosh! That’s certainly added to the drama. The last time I saw that moved played … on second thoughts, better not to discuss it.

Mansion House

LittleBitofBread · 25/06/2025 11:04

Do you mean that time in Basingstoke, Maud? I was there too. It did get a bit heated, although I think it was to some degree down to the presence of both the flautist and the church organ repairer (always a disaster having those two in the same room ever since the day trip to West Wittering).

Bond Street (downwind)

LlynTegid · 25/06/2025 12:00

The wind takes us to Lancaster Gate

TragicMuse · 25/06/2025 13:17

Highbury & Islington.

You’ll understand that m’learned friends have imposed this on me…

GreenIsMyFavoriteColour · 25/06/2025 16:49

I can't let you get away with that.

Obviously, everyone is familar with the Bakerloo Tuesday Accord, but few people realize it allows me to respond with this:

Greenwich Observatory.

TragicMuse · 25/06/2025 16:57

<raises eyebrow>

Ahem.

I shall swiftly counter with Brondesbury Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/06/2025 17:14

Yes, those day excursions caused an awful lot of bother and the countess is staunch in her refusal to arrange any more, even if the injunction can be lifted.

There’s been some very lively play this afternoon - some of it in the spirit of the Oswestry Concordat, some not so much - so I will attempt to settle matters with a lateral Penfold to

Bromley-by-Bow

LittleBitofBread · 26/06/2025 12:19

Oswestry is forever tainted for me, sadly, by the conduct of the archdeacon's 'people' around the catering (fair; those prawn salad finger sandwiches 😱…) and the parameters of Schlesinger's Finding (more problematic IMO).

Far be it from me to cavil, there is a fair bit of duplication occurring in this game. I'm going to assume that this play is deliberate and people are consciously following Mariana's Finding.

That's not an area of the game in which I feel especially confident, though, so I'm going to stay nice and safe and play a lateral amalgam (at 75 degrees, obviously) to Heron Quays.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 26/06/2025 13:42

Oh dear. The downside of playing the game of games on this infernal electronic contraption is that one cannot always see easily which other moves have been played. I think I’m on reasonably solid ground with

Euston Square

GreenIsMyFavoriteColour · 27/06/2025 10:37

You forgot to check the date before posting. On a Friday in late June that can be easily parried with:

Marble Arch
