Kids are going to their fathers later . Teen dd is going with them . So im 💯% child free till Monday. I do feel a bit sad though because I won't see ds on his birthday. We celebrated yesterday but it just didn't feel right 😭. Ds was happy its a me thing really.

I need to put up 2 metal sheds on my own . Its going to be hell . One is going up in the front garden so I can put the kids bikes and scooters in there. The other is going in the back garden.

Today I'm going to sort the front garden out. There's weeds growing through the gaps in the patio I need that all cleared before I can build the shed.

Once they are both up I can organise things better and everything will look more tidy.

I also need to tidy my first floor. Tidy my room and the bathroom. Wash all bedding in the house. Fold clean washing and put away. Apart from bedding im actually on top of my washing 👍

Once I have done all the above my house and garden will be 100% tidy.

I’ve done it myself and it’s v doable just annoying with 7537 bastard screws, you will need something to hold pieces up to screw together (I used high back dining chairs). It’s fiddly but possible

Yeah that'd what I'm going to do . I'm gonna use a sack trolley though.

I put up a wooden garden shed on my own. Took a whole day. The bitumen felt roof was interesting I have to say. It’s a walk in shed and the instructions said a 2 person job. I did it, it wasn’t a lot of fun at times but I definitely felt pretty happy with myself at the end.
You can do it but be patient. I had a very large glass of wine afterwards.

I give up for the day. I'm getting achey i just have the doors to do . So will do them tomorrow 7 hrs ffs 😑

No one needs to put up two metal sheds. Ever.

@tobee

Do I win the prize?

Yep. Well done! Your prize is a fine gold-plated copy of the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, and a bunch of lupins.

I would've said something if I'd seen this earlier!" Still, don't feel like paying for an argument!

Time40 · 18/04/2025 18:55

@Gonksmum

Aww, go on. You could pay for the ten minute argument, rather than the full half hour.

I would suggest the OP probably does, because, she is

We need photos when they’re done. I’m cheering you on!

InfoSecInTheCity · 18/04/2025 19:27

Well done!

I put up an 8 foot by 10 foot Keter plastic shed by myself last summer. Hard work, at times a right bugger to get things lined up right, and I bashed myself and twisted muscles several times but I did it.

Me and DH tried this last week. Instructions said 1 shed, 2 people, 2 hours.
At one point during the 8 hours, there were 4 of us..
DH finished it the next day. Then we discovered that it was too big to go where we had measured and we need to concrete a small bit.
It still isn't where it needs to go.

I messed up when I tried to do a plastic one. I could not do it ended up breaking it .

Getting the roof in was so hard. I almost had to ask a neighbour for help .... thought no way am I doing that. Probably took me 5 times as long though 😅

Least the actual shed is fixed together now. Soon have it where you want. . Mine just about fit in the gap.

I'm so pissed off, I got to finish of the shed this morning. I was then hoping just to have a potter about day but its going to be raining from tomorrow. So I need to get the other shed done I really didn't want to do it today . Also adult ds is coming over. Which sort of makes it harder.

OP posts:
Youagain2025 · 19/04/2025 12:27

Teen ds turned up. Adult ds is on his way. I love seeing them and stuff. But now it's delayed me even more. Don't knlw how I'm gonna get everything done before the kids are back. A dentist avoid the rain.

I'm confused. How far have you got with everything now and how much time do you have left to complete the work ?

I just have to add the doors to the first shed. I can't do it now as it's dark . I have just started on the roof for the 2nd shed. But im doing that part in my living room. I have tonight and tomorrow to get it done.

Youagain2025 · 19/04/2025 22:56

Took me just under 90 mins. Least it gives me a head start for tomorrow.

Shed one is complete. I done a few bits wrong. So had to correct them . Silly things kept going wrong. I'm going to chill out for half hour or so . Then carry on with 2nd shed.

Can I put up 2 sheds on my own.

I'm happy with it . Means we can keep bikes in there and saves, walking them through the house. And them being in the way in the garden . Easy to keep tidy etc.
