Fucking restless legs

restlesslegss · 17/04/2025 02:32

Been awake now since 12am, up and down the stairs to bed and back, I want to chop my legs off ! Taken two magnesium supplements, can I expect these to help?
Have no tonic water or anything, hot water bottle not helping. Cannot lie there anymore !!

Hold your arm up in the air while lying in bed. Just keep it up. It distracts from RLS. You will fall asleep. Warning, your hand may drop and smack you in the face.

Works for me every time xx

Magnesium helps but needs to be taken consistently for a few weeks to start working. Keep it in your daily routine

Good luck x

Codeine or cannabis are the only things that truly help.

It’s horrific, isn’t it? Solidarity.

i have both but think it’s a bit late for a smoke now. Watching Harry Potter. They’re okay when I’m up but as soon as I’m in bed they start

I microdose with THC oil. I didn’t want to get addicted to codeine.

I don’t think anyone understands how bad it can be unless they’ve experienced it. I used to be in tears sometimes.

After many years of being told by my GP that there was nothing they could do and after a change of GP surgeries I was prescribed "pramepexol".(Nah not be spelt quite right. It's a drug for Parkinson's which stops involuntary movements. Absolutely life changing. I've been on it around 10 years and might get the very odd bad night every couple of months instead of every single night. Have a look into it x

I find ice packs help mine enough to fall asleep anyway! It's horrible.

70Cats · 17/04/2025 16:30

Worth checking your B12 levels.

Pamspeople · 17/04/2025 16:41

Iron supplements helped me

Ilovelowry · 17/04/2025 17:05

I take three of these every night about two hours before bed.

I pay dearly if I forget.

Iron supplements helped me

Came here to say to ask your GP for blood tests to check your haemoglobin & ferretin levels

Are you taking a daily Vitamin D supplement?

Ilovelowry · 17/04/2025 17:07

I can't sit down in the evening unless I've had the magnesium. I've had to jiggle my legs up and down in restaurants to stop it ruining my dinner!

GRCP · 17/04/2025 17:09

It’s awful isn’t it? I use CBD oil and have to drink lots of water and eat a banana a day.

pimplebum · 17/04/2025 17:14

Masterbation is the only thing that works for me , I keep my Little vibrater next to my bed and after I’ve come I’d have a window if 5-10 mins to potentially get to sleep

orgasms are good for our body and minds generally so it’s a all round good solution

also loosing weight helps

Scrabsqueak · 17/04/2025 17:17

Oh I hear you op.
I had a horrendous flight back from holiday recently when my legs just would not stop the entire 4 1/2 hours.
Ive tried taking a banana before I go to bed, but as said above I think you need to take magnesium regularly for it to have any impact.
I hope you managed to find some peace.

Killerqueenie · 17/04/2025 17:36

I've not tried this as I don't frequently get restless legs, but I saw a video on tiktok that said if you take a pair of socks, and tie them around feet (so not putting them on) then it can help. I'll try and put the link below to the video. It's worth a shot and I'll try it the next time I'm bothered by it. I usually only get restless legs if I'm really tired or too hot, and I find that going to bed usually stops it. There was one time I had the restless feeling in my arms and it was bloody awful.

Vitamin B6 and magnesium glycinate help me with my restless legs.

Orangesandlemons77 · 17/04/2025 17:40

Gabapentin has helped me

CrazyCatMam · 17/04/2025 17:40

Magnesium Glycinate - a good quality one - an hour or so before bed. Took a good few weeks before I noticed a difference. I used to get restless legs and tingling limbs. It was driving me round the bend! Felt like I wanted to tear my skin off.

Haven’t had it in ages now. I didn’t change anything else.

restlesslegss · 17/04/2025 19:02

I take 40mg daily omeprazole daily, could it be this??

OP posts:
CrazyCatLady13 · 17/04/2025 19:09

Ropinerole from the GP is the only thing that works for me

nahthatsnotforme · 17/04/2025 19:15

A weighted blanket helps, but it needs to be double so quite heavy on my legs. I think it changes the sensation.
Alcohol makes mine worse, sadly.
It’s absolutely horrible and I too have almost been in tears with it.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 17/04/2025 21:55

Mine have improved by about 90% since I stopped drinking alcohol.

ParsnipPuree · 17/04/2025 21:59

Ilovelowry · 17/04/2025 17:05

I take three of these every night about two hours before bed.

That’s 3000mg a night.. is that not higher than the recommended dose? Only asking as I take 600mg and not doing much for me.

MissBattleaxe · 17/04/2025 22:33

A bar of soap in the bed helps but I don't know why.
