Do webuyanycar actually pay the price they've quoted?

I've had a quote from them for my old wreck - do they actually pay what they've quoted or are they likely to suck their teeth and mutter "half that luv" when they see it? It's exactly the condition you'd expect for a valuation of £895.

In my experience - no. However, they give you an initial quote based on an online assessment of the car. When you take it in to them, they do an inspection of it, so if there’s any obvious damage (inside or out) then they will reflect that in the price they’re prepared to pay.

AvocadoSurprise · 12/04/2025 14:30

No. In my experience only half of what was quoted online. I expected them to knock it down a bit but that was a lot more than I expected & they wouldn't negotiate.

We just sold my mums car to Arnold Clarks version of we buy any car and actually got more than we were quoted for a seven yr old polo with low mileage! Nearly £11k. We were very impressed with them.

No. Once they take a look they seem to find lots of reason to knock it down

Pedallleur · 12/04/2025 14:39

Yes in our case. My aunt sold her car to them and got what they quoted. Was a low mileage car, 1 elderly owner

Seventimesaday · 12/04/2025 14:47

Only slightly below what they quoted. It was still more than we were offered to PX it.
Very happy with the service offered and money arrived on time.

MoneyBall1 · 12/04/2025 14:50

They paid more than the garage quoted me, was very happy!

PaganOfTheYuleTimes · 12/04/2025 14:52

No. They kept us there for ages then offered half of what was quoted. Told them to sod off, went home and put the car on Ebay and got exactly what webuyanycar had quoted for a cash sale. They are charlatans.

largecomb · 12/04/2025 14:55

No, they offered much less than they quoted online. Complete and utter scoundrels.

Mendeleyev · 12/04/2025 15:49

Motorway are a similar service. They seem to quite accurately once you have taken pictures of everything and sent them. I was very honest with mine and pictures every little flaw. The new quote was a little less than the original estimate but then that is exactly what I got once they came to collect the car.

BestIsWest · 12/04/2025 15:52

No, and they were really rude to DH. It was a car in great condition with low mileage too. He took it to a local small dealer instead and got a really good price.

DelphiniumBlue · 12/04/2025 15:57

No. They offered DS way less than the quote for a 20 year old car in fairly good condition for a car of that age. Obviously not pristine though. I think they'd originally said about 1k and when he got there said £250!

Cismyfatarse · 12/04/2025 16:10

No. They offered us £850 online and £30 in person. We sold it within an hour on Facebook for £850 cash.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 12/04/2025 16:10

They quoted me fuck all. Our local garage bought it in the end.

daffodilandtulip · 12/04/2025 16:15

Big Wants Your Car and webuyanycar quoted me the same online, but Big kept to their word when they came to assess it, whereas webuy halved it.

Octavia64 · 12/04/2025 16:19

They knocked a bit off for some scratches I hadn’t photographed but they only know Jed a couple of hundred off 6k quote.

PenniesButton · 12/04/2025 16:22

No, they're piss takers.

We got offered (after half an hour of faffing) 1/3rd of what was quoted. Told them to jog on and sold it to local garage for full price original quote was.

Koolforkats · 12/04/2025 16:23

Yes, the quote was unbelievably high for a ten year old car, but they paid it. Drove there with the expectation they’d knock down to something much lower but that wasn’t the case. They gave £3k more than local trustworthy dealership offered.

angelinawasrobbed · 12/04/2025 16:24

Not in my experience

Lovelynames123 · 12/04/2025 16:25

I used to know a guy who worked for WBAC, he used to take great delight in how much he could knock the price down by. If I recall, it was something like £100 less for every stone chip, scratch etc. He was a horrible man though!

BumbleBeegu · 12/04/2025 16:26

I got the exact amount quoted online. Have to admit I was surprised!

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 12/04/2025 16:33

They did for me after a bit of a row. I declared minor damage to the bumper paintwork and the sales guy tried to claim there were more areas of repair - basically it's one bodyshop repair and he said it was two and started spouting some tosh about the condition of the car and would not budge in the face of evidence to the contrary. I had DP with me who used to work in the motor trade who told him he was wrong, but he wasn't having it so we walked away. The guy was so rude I emailed and complained and posted a frank review on Trust Pilot. Monday morning I received an email from customer services and the upshot was one of the directors rang me, I went to a different branch and got the full price quoted.

Their MO is to chip any online price and they bank on people needing the money so they agree to take less.

Springtimefordaffs · 12/04/2025 16:36

They also deducted admin fees if I wanted the money next day,

HappyApper · 12/04/2025 16:39

Yes I had great experience. No quibble and paid what they quoted. Was laughable and
insulting what a garage quoted to trade my car in when purchasing a new car. Webuyanycar beat them by a mile.

Rosealine · 12/04/2025 16:43

Yes, I got more from them than a dealership part exchange offer and also only 500 less than what I bought the car for the year before. Was the easiest transaction for me.
