Do webuyanycar actually pay the price they've quoted?

I've had a quote from them for my old wreck - do they actually pay what they've quoted or are they likely to suck their teeth and mutter "half that luv" when they see it? It's exactly the condition you'd expect for a valuation of £895.

Nope. We had them claim our car wasn’t serviced every year. It was a VW and was on a long service schedule as arranged by VW itself. Even though we pointed this out and had the paper evidence it mattered not and they tried to knock a good amount off. Fuckers.

Motorway reduced offer considerably (50% ish) when got photos. Car was in reasonable condition. Evans Halshaw paid their online figure in full when i took to garage which was only slightly lower than Motorway's original figure.

Interesting range of experiences! Thank you everyone.

WBAC offered me about a third of their online offer. I was really irritated. Clearly banking on customers just giving in

I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole

LasVegass · 12/04/2025 17:25

No. A 12 year old had a quick look around and came up with a truly ridiculous offer.

Hiya - I’m a trader. WBAC is normally the same as the bargain basement part ex price. They will knock you down based on it not being in perfect condition, yes.

Traders like myself will often use that online valuation as a baseline and add on a bit to make it more attractive for the seller and that goes to show you how much below retail value it is.

Honestly if WBAC are giving you that, I’d stick it on fb marketplace for £1295 and get something extra for it.

Motorway were good, they paid exactly what they said they would, after seeing all the photos.

Sold my car to wbac just yesterday. Online value £6400. Expected about £6000 knowing they would inspect carefully for scratches etc. Final valuation was £5720. So, bit disappointing but we went with it as didn't want the hassle of selling privately.

HappyAsASandboy · 12/04/2025 21:05

Yes, in fact I got more than the online quote because the price had shifted up on the day I took it in.

DH got less for his, because it had damage he wasn’t able to enter online. So no surprise the price came down.

Either way, there’s no harm taking it in for them to view and set a price. You are still allowed to say no and take your car home.
