Dog wagging tail too loudly against fence.

Neighbours are complaining that dog wags his tail and as it hits our fence its too noisy. It's waking them up, they don't want him out in our garden until 8:30am abd also want us to cover the fence with something to stop the noise.... I'm at a loss as to what to reasonably say!

OK so it's fine for your neighbours to mow the lawn at 7am on a Sunday? I'd love to see how that thread goes.

If they really want to, I have no issues with gardening noise at 7am.

Dew and all that though, better to wait for lawn mowing til it's dried out a bit. Unless you want to damage things.

Given we start work at 8am, keeping a dog inside til 830am isn't feasible. We usually let her out for the toilet, do breakfasts and then walk. It's not fair to the dog to expect them to hold a wee in all night and then wait til you're in a position to walk them. Not when you can just let them go wee.

Why do people keep saying being woken at 8.30 is ok. The OPs neighbours have asked not to let the dog make the noise until 8.30 so it's obviously before 8.30. and they have asked them to cover the fence with something to deaden the noise.
I think it's a reasonable request. Presumably the neighbours sleep in the room over the garden and a loud thump thump noise for 20 minutes every morning sounds horrible.
I don't think it's unreasonable to put some pots or bushes against the fence so he can't do it. No one is suggesting OP stops the dog wagging his tail just that he doesn't do it against the fence.
People would be up in arms complaining if a child was kicking a football against the fence before 8.30 every morning. This is no different

I’ve loads of dogs, in summer we’re all up at 5.30 and they’re all out to the loo. They don’t make noise though.

i would definitely put bubble wrap on the fence but that’s it

it’s a totally normal household noise, whether it’s 6am or 8.30am

Dogs do t tend to sit wagging for a long period of time.

Just put some garden pots along the fence .

Yes because a dog's tail makes exactly the same level of noise as a lawnmower @Basketslipper 🤪

Tell them they're welcome to. come round for a chin-wag so they can give you some more de-tail.

Sorry all I've just realised hiw many replies I got!

So to answer some questions-
Dog is a spaniel.
I mentioned elderly neighbours as a description and also to point out they're not having to get up with young children/ school run etc so differing schedules.

Dog is fascinated by the sun/ shadows on the fence so will stand for a few minutes then rubs round then goes back. He's not left out- door is open and he's not out of hours.
I've put a few plants along.... not going to do the whole fence as its 8 metres!
The neighbours have wind chimes!!!!

Also I should add same neighbours have asked our children nit to play football in garden ! But they're harmless & dobt complain about anything else.

It can be loud I’ve heard similar sounds like a ball constantly being kicked at the fence
