I'm a terrible snorer and feel like I should try it to see if it makes a difference.

This was the only thing that stopped my husbands snoring! Definitely recommend

WallaceinAnderland · 07/04/2025 22:19

Anything that can interfere with your ability to breathe sounds like a risky choice to me.

Rockfordpeach · 07/04/2025 22:21

Yes ive been doing it for a couple of months now and absolutely love it, I've stopped snoring and sleep so much better. The first week was hard but now i prefer to sleep with the tape.

Shirtless · 07/04/2025 22:22

What, you literally gaffer-tape your mouth shut and try to go to sleep?

No its a breathable tape and it encourages nasal breathing over mouth breathing. There are loads available on Amazon

fromthevault · 07/04/2025 22:26

Yeah, I do most nights. I snore (apparently...) and it's helped me stop mouth-breathing at night.

I just use a small strip of tape although I do sometimes wake to find it stuck to my cheek or cleavage 😂

ChompandaGrazia · 07/04/2025 22:29

Oooh. I’ve bought some as I’m a snorer and DH is extra sensitive to noise. We are off on holiday soon and sleeping in the same room leads to grumpiness. I’ve not tried it yet.

Good grief!

I would wake up panicking!

fromthevault · 07/04/2025 22:29

I buy the Longevity tape and cut each one into four pieces. It feels less restrictive and lasts 4x as long!

I did the first few days but once i adjusted to it, i honestly really prefer sleeping with it.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 07/04/2025 22:50

I do it.

I use micropore. I do it diagonally across my lips so I can fit my drink straw in the side.

Helps with my mouth dryness and snoring too.

I'm claustrophobic but with it being diagonal can open the side of my mouth a bit so am OK.

Sleep much better for it.

I will say OP, give it a few days before you make up your mind! The first couple of nights it took me a while to get used to, I remember finding it difficult to just breathe through my nose. But now I wouldn’t be without them and my nose has adjusted 😁

I second this

Jamfirstest · 08/04/2025 18:43

V invested in this as I don't sleep very well

SatsumaDog · 08/04/2025 18:43

Some friends of ours do this and swear by it. When they first told us about it we thought they were joking, but after doing some reading about it, I realised it’s actually a thing. I haven’t tried it yet, but intend to give it a go soon. Would love to hear how too get on op!

hangry · 08/04/2025 18:45

i use tape but still manage to snore. i mean i'm quite impressed with myself but don't know what else to try :(

HauntedBungalow · 08/04/2025 18:47

Sounds a bit Texas chainsaw isn't it? What is the treatment for sleepwalking? Strap yourself to a radiator?

LavendarPink · 08/04/2025 18:48

I've been sleeping with a micropore taped vertically so it doesn't completely cover my whole mouth. I don't snore anymore and sleep better. I can't sleep without it now.

Skecherslover · 08/04/2025 18:50

I’ve been doing it for a few years now, I just use narrow micropore tape. I used to wake myself up coughing before and have a really dry mouth so I now feel much better.

People think you’re crazy when you tell them, if you can’t breathe then you’ll just remove it in your sleep. I’ve woken up on occasions to find it stuck on the pillow next to me 😂

Anyone sceptical please try it, it works!

Me too, what if you vomited in the night, you could choke to death.

When was the last time you vomited at night? And without warning?

GeorgianaM · 08/04/2025 19:09

@2dogsandabudgie

I would no doubt have a nightmare that someone has their hand over my mouth!

Vomiting and choking is a real possibility

Annoyingsquirrels · 08/04/2025 19:10

I have been mouth taping since reading the excellent book Breath by James Nestor. It is amazing the amount of evidence there is linking mouth breathing to a wide range of health conditions from immunity to common viruses to dementia.
