Mens swimwear in France

What can men actually wear to swim in France? I know traditionally it was mandatory to wear speedo trunks, is this still the case?

My DH has his knickers in a right old twist so trying trying work out what will be acceptable.

We'll be staying at a Yelloh! campsite.

The only people you will see wearing proper budgie smugglers on most French holidays are 70+ with a mahogany tan.

The ones in your photo won’t be ok. They must be skin tight, so anything boxershort style with a drawstring won’t be ok. Have a look here, but only choose the ones that are skin tight! The French can be very difficult about it - no point in fighting it … www.amazon.fr/s?k=adidas+performance+3+stripe+jammers&crid=ZPYERP2F2DYA&sprefix=adidas+performance+3+stripe+jammers%2Caps%2C87&ref=nb_sb_noss

I dont wear swimwear like that and wouldnt visit somewhere where I was forced to. Like OPs husband I wouldnt like being forced into something where I felt uncomfortable.

thats your choice I guess. Its pretty standard in most european campsites and swimming pools though. In italy and germany, i believe you have to wear swim hats too.
Not an issue if you mainly swim in the sea I guess.

Tbh though, ive been in uk holiday park pools, and all of them, without fail have been minging in the summer, so maybe they should bring in more rules

My best friend has a stoma bag. He couldn’t possibly wear budgie smugglers. It this not a bit discriminating against people like him.

there are lots of ostomy covers for swimming available that would just look like a higher waistband.

People think this is bad - to swim in some municipal pools in Greece (NOT pools in tourist hotels) you need a medical certificate - including one from a gynecologist if you are female...

Those expensive Vilebrequin ones are french. Would those be allowed?

Do we think something like this may be okay?

No.

But I really fancy your DH 😂

A look that may work for Melania Trump

In Spain my DH got told off for wearing swimming briefs in the hotel pool. So it depends on the country I guess.
