Do you still have a landline in your home?

We do, but disconnected awhile ago when redecorating the hall. Just realised we never bothered to plug it back in now when doing online banking, and one of the contact numbers was the landline!

Both my parents and in-laws still do.

We do. Despite being 3 miles from a city, we have very poor mobile reception. As I live with, and care for, aged parent who is vulnerable, I have to have a phone line for emergencies.

I'm amazed by how many people are using poor mobile signal as a reason.
We use wi-fi calling 90% of the time at.home

That link doesn't seem to actually say how you get it for £1.44.
I can't quite remember but we were more than £14 for phone and calls with BT/EE

Do you see the big green box with £1.20 in it?

Where it says “View more”, hit that.

Not all providers offer wifi calling. You need a compatible phone too.

As said earlier... not all pay-as-you-go/SIM only offer wifi calling.. plus in areas where there is some MB reception, the phone will try to use the MB network... even if a voice call isn't possible...

Also, phone companies will say good coverage in and outdoors, when the reality is there is none at all.

BT give me an internet voice line & all calls for free For £33pm.... then there is the issue of people who need a land line for emergency pendant calls if they have a fall.... which is a bit of an issue for internet voice calling.

I would love to get rid of my landline but we would need very reliable wifi to do that. Our WiFi goes down for at least a couple of hours in the early hours probably a couple of times a week. Even when it is working and we can use wifi for phone calls, the wifi is still unreliable in most of the bedrooms. I have to be able to call an ambulance in the middle of the night when my husband has a medical emergency, and really can’t leave him to run downstairs to find a phone that’s close enough to the router to be able to make a phone call. And I don’t live somewhere remote - I’m in a busy part of south London but in a real black spot in terms of mobile reception, and for various reasons, we’re not able to change our broadband provider easily.
