Best Bean to cup Coffee Machine?

Stinksmum · 30/03/2025 08:15

That's it really. I currently use a Moka Pot and electric Milk Frother, but I'm toying with the idea of a machine that does the lot. I've looked at some options, there seem to be the very spendy variety which look rather intimidating. And then prices start coming down to about £150 (mostly for those on special offer). The cheaper ones don't seem to have such good reviews, but don't want to spend a fortune on one. Anyone got any recommendations?

I'm in the same position. Used a Delonghi Magnifica on holiday which was amazing and I'm very tempted!

Sage Barista, DeLonghi or a Jura. Remember that at some point they will need cleaning and servicing. It's not like watching Friends where it's perfect coffees. Grounds, milk, beans all end up on the worktop and/or floor

coffeeandsleep · 30/03/2025 12:25

I love my Sage Barista - would recommend it

carrierbags · 30/03/2025 12:35

Another vote for delonghi magnifica, best thing I've ever bought

FrogsLoveRain · 30/03/2025 12:38

Also recommend Sage Barista 👌

maggiesleapp · 30/03/2025 12:39

Love my Sage Barista, best buy everr.

Thanks for these suggestions. I'm going to a bit of research on them.

Jura E8. It also steams and heats the milk for you. Super easy to clean each day as well - just press a button and it cleans itself.

In my house we go through about 8 cups of coffee a day. It's lasted five years with that sort of daily use - and it's still going strong.

It is expensive (close to £1k if not a bit over) but when you factor in the use mine has gone through, and how long I've had it...nothing else could compare. My sister has a Sage Barista and has gone through two in the same amount of time.

Do you live in a hard water area? I've read reviews where folk comment about machines becoming really scaled up and breaking.

DarkForces · 30/03/2025 19:26

I got the cheapest delonghi years ago for dh and it's been used daily since. I have to froth the milk using the steamer on the side but that's no bother. I usually have a splash of cold milk in my Americano style coffee so don't even bother with that!

LandSharksAnonymous · 30/03/2025 19:53

@MannequinsArePeopleToo I do, but I've never had any problem with it scaling up!

Same here, we replaced ours recently as it broke but we bought the same one

1AnotherOne · 30/03/2025 19:58

I got the Ninja one a few months ago and love it

Hedgesgalore · 30/03/2025 20:00

I've got a Sage Oracle which I adore.

tobee · 30/03/2025 20:02

Love our De Longhi Eletta. Has automatic milk frother and integrated jug and auto clean. Can tailor your coffee to taste.

We use it at least 4 x a day. Costs about £650

The delonghi magnifica has been going for over ten years now (Black Friday purchased when I was breastfeeding in the night!)

im on the fence about getting a bean to cup machine- how long do coffee beans realistically last before going bad? I’ll usually have a couple of cups a day so I don’t want to buy a bag and bin half of it!

ForLovingAquaSheep · 30/03/2025 20:14

Get an fully automatic one. You don't want to be messing around with a steaming wand unless you have a penchant for latte art

Gymmum82 · 30/03/2025 20:17

I have a Lakeland one. It’s not super fancy and wasn’t super pricey. No milk frother but I only drink black so not an issue. Accepts beans or ground and makes nice coffee. I’m happy with it

I have 1 cup a day and DH has 2 or 3.
Bag of beans lasts around 5 days

Flamingmentalcats · 30/03/2025 20:58

We have a Philips coffee machine. Heats the milk or makes different coffees. Fab piece of kit and used daily for the last 2 years. Easy to clean too. It has saved us a fortune. Were a own beans number 4 are nice and we are lucky enough to have a local roaster near is too

TonerNeedsReplacing · 30/03/2025 21:03

OP if buying in Amazon be sure to check out the “used” prices with Amazon Resale before you buy. Look carefully at the description of what that means but it can be as little as damaged packaging. We bought a Delonghi that apparently had scratches - because of where it would sit that didn’t matter but I couldn’t see any noticeable ones when it arrived.

QueenofFox · 30/03/2025 21:26

Our sage barista gave up the ghost after about 2.5 years of daily use (we were vigilant about water and regular descales). The Milk wand still works, it's just the "pump" to shoot the espresso shot. Quite disappointing though! Following for other recs.

MistyMountainTop · 30/03/2025 21:28

Look on Ebay, DeLonghi have a shop where they sell refurbished models - in most cases they're as new, we've had our Autentica for 5 years now and it was half the price Amazon etc were charging

I have this, it’s excellent, definitely recommend.
