What are your plans for Mother’s Day tomorrow?

My partner has to work tomorrow so we’re going to go out for breakfast with our 3 year old before he goes to work and then I’m going to meet my mum (with my 3 year old) and we’re going to get ice cream and go to the cinema. Then when we get home I am planning to decorate cupcakes/biscuits with my 3 year old and maybe do some painting/crafts too 😊

Painting the front garden fences and gate. Can't wait, thrilling! DP will be marking books. So usual Sunday for us. I do housework, he does work work (actually, he will also do some ironing too!). Ahhhh. And an hours less sleep! 👍👌

First mother's day without mum so nothing planned. I have no idea if the dcs are doing anything for me or not.

@Ohwelljusttoday I very much doubt he’ll call. He was reminded by DH that he needed to do something a couple of times

Don’t rely on DH- take the reins yourself about how you want him to remember and acknowledge you now he is at uni.
Please do this.

None.

as always I’m as invisible as always

I am wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day my dear

StressedQueen · 29/03/2025 15:41

Stereotypical but the rest of the family is waking me up with breakfast in bed at about 9am which is a really long lie in for me! I have 5 kids so we have a little ritual where the younger ones give me their adorable cards and paper gifts and the older ones actually buy me presents with their own money now!

Then we are going out for a nice lunch and a relaxed easy day out going on a walk as a whole family (something we don't do enough!).

Home and then a lazy day at home for me 😁

Mikart · 29/03/2025 15:41

Nothing....ds died last year and dd lives 300 miles away. I am currently enjoying a fantastic weekend away with dh and friends so am just going to continue doing that.
In fairness I've never liked MD so it has no relevance

So hard, I know as I’m in same position. My kids have left home though, so I hope you feel cherished in some way tomorrow- cuddles are free!

Outofthepan · 29/03/2025 15:45

Being sad. My teenage ds is at his dad’s and DD 23 is caught up in a dysfunctional relationship and gives me no thought

I might take myself outdoors and climb a hill or something!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 29/03/2025 15:45

CMOTDibbler · 29/03/2025 15:24

Nothing. My mum and MIL are both dead, ds is at uni and is utterly shite with cards etc

Just to give you hope, my ds is 23, at uni, equally shite with cards etc.
He surprised me last night when I went to visit him (he's only 30 miles away). He had a card AND a gift! I nearly dropped dead. They do change... its a miracle! DP was laughing because even when he bought a card and gave it to ds, he still didn't bloody write it!
Happy mothers day to you xx

Dear Op,
I am sorry that this thread has now been about people that are doing nothing/ finding the day hard for a variety of reasons.

tou have a wonderful day planned and I so hope you enjoy every moment of it x

Tootyfilou · 29/03/2025 15:49

@UpUpUpU

It's the best feeling isn't it. Bad luck at having to work the extra hour though. x

Outofthepan · 29/03/2025 15:50

Apologies @Ilovebeingamama , I was wallowing in self pity. Your day, and lots of the days planned sound really lovely 😊

UpUpUpU · 29/03/2025 14:47

I am on nights tonight and Sunday night so my day will be spent in bed so we’ll be going out for food a Monday evening.

However, I am a labour suite midwife so hopefully I will get the immense joy and privilege of being present as a woman becomes a mother ❤️

How amazing that will be!

PalmTreeAngel · 29/03/2025 15:55

Exercising at home in the morning before my mum comes over and the three of us, DH, Mum and I will go out for a morning dog walk together and cooking a rack of lamb for Sunday lunch x

Ohwelljusttoday · 29/03/2025 15:55

I never start a thread but maybe I should for mothers that will struggle tomorrow?

That way the lovely OP can have the thread she deserves x

DarkForces · 29/03/2025 16:06

Going for a walk by the sea and having a meal cooked for me. I've got myself some flowers and will be getting some push chocolates from dd (ordered by dh who'll also be doing most of the cooking). Dd is 13 so a day without some tragedy sending her into a doom spiral would be nice

Picklelily99 · 29/03/2025 16:18

Mothers day, like fathers day and birthdays etc. are all 'movable feasts' for us! Daughter lives nearby, son is in Scotland, other daughter in Germany, so we plan our celebrations around the times we can all be together. We've had 3x belated birthdays, and 1x fathers day, in one week's holiday in september before! They're just days, and we can celebrate as we please. Mothers are WONDERFUL, so feel special whatever you're doing!

whatswrongwivme · 29/03/2025 16:18

I am going to make a point of thinking about my mother who died in 1996. I am one of six children and recently we have all got caught up in the craze of having our DNA tested by these genealogy websites and everybody sent theirs off to be tested. It turns out all six of us have a different father. We have so many questions to ask of mother and she is not here so all we can do is speculate.

Whattheduck · 29/03/2025 16:19

My Dd (20) is taking me to a local tearoom for coffee and cake before she goes to work
I’ll go and see my mum in the afternoon then in the evening myself and Dh are having mango coconut and chilli chicken with Mediterranean vegetables ,homemade coleslaw ,potato salad ,hummus and Persian flatbreads in front of the television

BearSoFair · 29/03/2025 16:22

Working 6:30-13:30 then I think (weather permitting) it'll be a family walk around the local nature reserve and DS1 is making a pie for dinner - can't wait, he's a brilliant cook! My Sister is taking our Mum out for brunch so I'll call her in the evening for a catch up (I'd usually see her too but was unsure exactly how long I'd be working until Tuesday)

aspidernamedfluffy · 29/03/2025 16:29

Nothing. DD is working (she lives a 3 hour drive away so can't just pop in after). I did get a card and gift from her delivered today and she'll ring me sometime tomorrow. It's been years since I saw her on Mother's Day so I'm used to it now.
