If it was anywhere in the Cotswold that would be handy
ideally around Arlington, daylesford, Moreron in marsh

A cherry orchard - have a google to find one near to you. I think you'd have to be in the southern half of the country to find one though.

Ooh I was literally thinking about this today as have booked to see some tulip fields and would love to hear of similar places in the south west?

Gettingbysomehow · 28/03/2025 15:25

My garden, but they aren't out yet.

Funnily enough, on reading the title of this thread I immediately thought of the huge cherry tree in my late MILs Cotswold hamlet. It was glorious to catch it in blossom, and better to catch it later when it was heaving with cherries, especially in such a stunningly beautiful place.

Our entire neighborhood in SE London. Every other street is lined with cherry blossoms. It's gorgeous!

I had a truly joyous experience the other day.

At a garden centre, beside a display of little cherry blossom trees were several Japanese people gazing in delight at the plants and practically on their knees in reverence. They were taking selfies and pictures of the little trees, and I guess they were really missing being in Japan for cherry blossom season.

So I'm really glad they were able to find a little cherry forest to enjoy here in the UK.

Too far away I expect but Kew garden has gorgeous cherry blossom.

MsPenguins · 28/03/2025 16:16

RHS Wisley has lots of cherry blossom out now.

Alnwick castle in Northumberland has a huge cherry blossom display - you don't have to be in the south. It's not all dark satanic mills once you pass Birmingham.

The garden we moved from last winter. I really miss my cherry tree now the blossom will be out. My magnolia too.

We went there last year, but a bit late. It’s on my todo list to return at the right time!

I get my hanami fix from my neighbours trees and for an otherwise unremarkable road hereabouts leading to an out of town shopping centre which is lined either side with pink cherries. Grin

I love that you think there's a place in the Cotswolds called Moreon in the Marsh.

It's Moron in the Marsh - silly!

RoomOver · 28/03/2025 16:46

I go most years @ErrolTheDragon , it’s a day out from here. Sometimes I’ll book one night somewhere and do Cragside after breakfast and then drive home.

I think of cherry blossoms in the same way I do daffodils, full of hope for spring and beyond.

DisforDarkChocolate · 28/03/2025 16:51

If anyone is on the NE, Alnwick Gardens. They have dozens of swings between the seats and it's magical.

stickybear · 28/03/2025 16:54

I saw pictures on Instagram yesterday of cherry blossom in Oozells Square in Birmingham. Not the most obvious place but it looked gorgeous!

ExtraDecluttering · 28/03/2025 16:59

Oooh, i will be near Westonbirt next week, I’ve only ever been there in the autumn, when it is also stunning.

Mynewnameis · 28/03/2025 17:01

Cardiff Alexandra gardens if you are ever passing

ppaaWWss · 28/03/2025 17:04

Batsford Arboretum in the Cotswolds apparently has the national collection of Japanese Flowering Cherries.

jellycat · 28/03/2025 17:10

The National Collection of flowering cherries is at Keele University (I’ve never been there at the right time of year but it is an attractive campus anyway so I should think it’s lovely when the blossom is out).
