Are the PIP changes going to effect your eligibility?

The main change proposed is that you will have to score FOUR points in at least one daily living category to be eligible for the benefit.

A huge number of people are going to lose their benefit because of this change.

My award is till may 27 will it run till then or nov 25 like they are saying

It'll carry on as normal. They usually write to you 9-12 months before the end date

I got 4 points in 2 separate categories, plus a few other 1 and 2 points in other categories. Total of 15 points for daily living, 12 points mobility.

So I would hope that I could still qualify for PIP when they change the rules. But sometimes they award a different number of points even when you've written the same thing as your last review. And a face to face appointment would be extremely stressful.

My DS gets PIP too but I can't find his original award letter. But his needs are more severe than mine and he got a 10 year award at enhanced rate daily living and mobility. So I think he is likely to continue to get it.

The thing is that even if you do get '4 points' the person assessing can make their own decisions.

I started out on DLA with a lifetime award, then it went to indefinite and eventually I was on PIP.

I had a review where they said I didn't need an aid to take medication because the pharmacy put it in a dossette box and my carer orders the prescription.

They also decided that I can walk 200m because I can drive. I can, but I use hand controls.

My ASD ADHD daughter has just been declined Pip inspite of her last claim being fully awarded at tribunal.
She's been unable to get out of bed since yesterday due to burn out. I've had to wake her for fluids, she's not eaten since Monday evening. She'd love a job but since she can't leave the house alone and has days like today who's going to employ her? I have wept this evening with fury and frustration. I started work at 14 and still work full-time at 63 to pay for everything including a mortgage. She doesn't claim anything except pip because of the horrors I went through àt the job centre when I was previously unemployed so I couldn't put her through it. So many people are going to be harmed, but those avoiding work and gaming the system will still find a way. It's the genuine ones who will fade away and die quietly of starvation and neglect

My God this is depressing 😞
I can only offer you my empathy and understanding as I'm in the same boat as you with my autistic son and I'm awaiting an autism assessment myself. Not that it will make a difference I expect.
Hugs from one stressed out Mum to another 💐

What sort of 'evidence' there though to show you can't do things or you can't do them repeatedly? If my initial claim fails, I don't know how to evidence how affected I am??

This is the problem. Your docs don't bsee you at home but they can verify if you have a condition like maybe arthritis which affects your hands. So evidence is indirect and not bad witness statement. The more doctors letters etc you have the more likely you are to succeedm

Thank you for your reply.

as per my username, I had two strokes earlier in the year, I can't really explain why on here that getting more documentation is going to be really difficult (on top of what I already have) as it's very outing.

I guess I will just have to see what PIP comes back with and deal with it from there, but thank you

Your previous point wouldn’t just into the new points system. You get the award till it runs out then re assessed under new system.dont assume cos you get the points once you get them again. My daughter went from 14 points to 6 points on a review. I had to take it tribunal to get her enhanced bk.
