Things that never seem to happen to other people

Eating your own hair, particularly when out in a restaurant

Items flying out the pestle and mortar all over the kitchen when you're trying crush spices

Biting the side of your mouth or tongue ruining the rest of the meal

Trying to get into the house with your car key

When wearing a scarf, the label always seems to find its way to the front of the scarf, looks terrible

Flyaway hair when wearing jumpers or scarves (with the label showing)

What else?

I cannot eat anything tomato based without getting it on my top. Even if I'm really careful / use a bib fashioned from a tea towel, if I don't do it while actually eating I can guarantee I'll do it somehow on clearing the plates.

I also trap my hair in the car door more than is optimal.

soupyspoon · 10/03/2025 07:44

Or stupidly leaving your bag zip open and as you bend over to do something the bag swings round and everything in the bag falls out.

A gust of wind blowing my hair just as you're closing the car door, trapping my hair in it. (This has happened both getting in and out of the car)

Spilling food down my boobs. I go out with my lovely immaculate female friends regularly and they never miss their mouths.

Never eat spaghetti in a white top! 🤓

Alwayslurkingsometimesposting · 10/03/2025 08:25

Omg I love this thread. So many apply to me. The scarf label, necklace clasp, house messy always despite constantly cleaning and tidying- also whenever I eat chocolate I will end up with some around my mouth. Are some people just inherently messy?! I hate being this way!

ScottBakula · 10/03/2025 08:27

I have to use a pas card and finger print on all of the many many doors at work and I have tried to do this on my standard mortise locking front door at least once a month.

Bending over to tie shoe laces or pick something up while wearing a rucksack and have it hit me on the back of the head and unbalance me.

Catching sleave or belt loop on kitchen door handle and stopping very suddenly, usually while carrying something in both hands so I can't disentangle myself.

Eyelashes sticking together ( top and bottom) 'sewing' my eye shut

Iknowaboutpopular · 10/03/2025 08:29

Getting your coat/dress/skirt caught in the car door and not realising it's flapping away in the rain and muck.

Getting sunglasses stuck in your hair.

Shoutygouty · 24/11/2025 21:52

Trapping own ankle in car door and slamming said door. Bit limpy this week.

CalmShaker · 24/11/2025 22:01

Random really heavy rain drop blob, after it has stopped raining, landing on my head.

Random piece of a spider web getting tangled in my face

ohyesido · 24/11/2025 22:17

Hair that won’t stay in a neat ponytail

ohyesido · 24/11/2025 22:19

Popcorn falling out of my bra after a visit to the cinema

Going for a wee in a long skirt and missing the “complete skirt lift” dunking part of it in the loo water 🤮.

Oh... see also jumpsuit with a wraparound belt that ties in a bow at the back...

Arlanymor · 24/11/2025 22:24

Walking in slip-on sandals (think Birkenstock style) in a rush and accidentally walking 'out' of your sandals so that you leave them behind and are suddenly barefoot!

coronafiona · 24/11/2025 22:51

Spilling food down the front of a white top🙈

Boudy · 24/11/2025 23:48

Jersey dress sticking to tights. I only wear lined dresses now. My friend dosen't have this issue...Why meeeeeee? And a fair few already mentiioned on here!

Helpmechooseausername · 25/11/2025 00:25

Oh yes to catching sleeves in door handles when walking past and almost falling over! Have done this a lot but have never ever seen anyone else do it!

Don't get my hair caught in car doors but do often scrape my ear as I get in or out of the car! Have also slammed the boot closed and caught my ear in the way down! Hurt so bad I thought I'd ripped my earrings out!

I did that running for a bus once. I was in Catford at the time

I missed the bus as I had to go back for my shoe

My best friend used to live in Catford - I bet I did it there too as it seems to be a lifelong issue for me with that style of shoe!

suburburban · 25/11/2025 19:12

Vest tops riding up your tummy

hair in mouth when cleaning teeth with electric toothbrush

MissKittyFantastico84 · 25/11/2025 20:00

I have been hit in the face by a massive falling leaf twice this autumn, both times while approaching people I don’t know massively well to say hello.

the80sweregreat · 25/11/2025 20:30

I get the ‘ horns’ at the side of my fringe too. I can’t grow my fringe out unless I want to pin it back as if I was 5 or 6, so it’s a blunt cut and hope it stops sticking out after six weeks till the next hair appointment.
I did try ‘scrolling ‘ a magazine as if it was my phone once. Luckily nobody noticed.

Crazybaby123 · 09/03/2025 23:40

I think all of those happened to me this week.
I also have losing my phone 15 times a day.
Never being able to find the car keys.
One black sock in the white wash every time.

This. People at work even comment on how often I lose my phone. Sometimes I actually think I have some kind of issue.

schoolsoutforever · 25/11/2025 20:37

Tripping over your own trousers. Several times. Sometimes to quite a dangerous level where people have rushed to help (it's lovely to know people care but...why just me?)

CarrieMoonbeams · 25/11/2025 20:39

I used my fingers to try to zoom in on an old photo of me that I found in a drawer.

I have the scarf label thing too!

Can't you just cut the label off?
