Why are people using "his" instead of "he's"?

What fresh hell is this?

Why can people not read and write any more?

Another one just seen on MN (for the umpteenth time) - ‘worse’ when they obviously mean ‘worst’.

"Worse case scenario". Yes, have seen that a lot recently.

Also, "he is bias".
"Doing amazing".
It surely can't be hard to add on "ed" or "ly" to the end of a word, but I think a lot of people don't realise that it's necessary.

Spotted a new one this morning on Facebook, "they aire on the side of caution".

Whilst we're at it, I can't stand, "I'm good" as the response to, "How are you?"

Talking of adverbs, I was perversely chuffed when after tests at school, a 10 year old dd told me, ‘English was OK, Mum, but I did really craply at maths.’ 😂

Another one - ‘birth’ as a verb. ‘Birthing’ a baby, instead of ‘giving birth to’.

I hate it! And to me, it sounds as if the person is semi-literate.

I don't think this is a new issue. My husband (early 40's) has always said his instead of he's. It was how he was brought up to say it, and a habit he isn't bothered about breaking. I don't like it, but I've learned to accept it. In the early years I used to correct him as it pissed me off so much, and he hated that!

This is bad but nowhere near as bad as "boobing" a baby instead of breastfeeding it.

I also hate that medal is now used as a verb. "Will he medal?" I think you mean will he win a medal.

I think far fewer people read books, newspapers etc where they would see correct grammar and spelling. So it becomes phonetic, or lazy, or just copying what they have seen on social
media.

He might have said it, but I expect he’d know how it should be written.
