Ours is going up by 10%, although it does include water (Scotland). So £409 a month for 10 months. Ouch!

I’d be astounded if anyone’s wasn’t going up.

Got our bill today and it has risen.

the80sweregreat · 06/03/2025 18:30

Eight pounds a month more ( Essex band d)

AnneShirleysNewDress · 06/03/2025 18:30

Also Scotland, going up by 8.2%.

Donotpanicoknowpanic · 06/03/2025 18:31

It always goes up

Hence inflation

(Hopefully) Yearly pay rises etc etc etc

Tis the way of the world

You just have to hope your wages go up to match

Though if you say it's gone up by 10% you would be doing well for your wages to match

DickEmery · 06/03/2025 18:33

Doesn't everyone's go up every year? Unless they live in SW1.

Mishmashs · 06/03/2025 18:33

Oh yes. always up! £8 a month more doesn’t sound too bad.

Falkirk up 15.6%

millymoo1202 · 06/03/2025 18:34

Scottish too, up my 10% and pay rise doesn’t reflect this. I’m worried about my outgoings I must admit

APurpleSquirrel · 06/03/2025 18:35

Yes, ours is going up 7.5% for the council but as our council is on the verge of bankruptcy.

purpleme12 · 06/03/2025 18:35

I don't know but I thought it went up every year anyway

Meadowfinch · 06/03/2025 18:36

Yes, by 5%.

I'm OK with that.

MidnightPatrol · 06/03/2025 18:36

By £50 a month.

My nursery bill has gone up £250.

My water bill has gone up by £40.

I’m expecting my mortgage to go up by about £800.

You may not be surprised to hear my salary will not be increasing to cover the difference.

PloopDeck · 06/03/2025 18:37

5% here in the south east

JackJarvisEsq · 06/03/2025 18:38

Ours hasn’t decided yet (always the last) but it’s looking like 13%

Ours is too. Not had the bill yet but am expecting a biggish rise.

B1indEye · 06/03/2025 18:40

I dont know yet but surely there won't be many if even anyone whose bill isn't going up

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/03/2025 18:43

Council announced up 10% (Scotland). Not received actual bill yet so awaiting full figure with water rates.

It's fucking ridiculous isn't it?

I've not had my new CT statement yet but my water has gone up by 31%. Gas and electricity is set to go up, although I've just paid an early exit fee to move to a lower tariff for 18 months (worked out less than we pay now even after factoring in the extra fee)

Food shopping is the real issue for me. I need to budget this a bit better and meal plan more etc as I'm spending so much. Although I'm already priced out of lots of things we used to buy!! Extra virgin olive oil is now a rare luxury as are many other things.

We wouldn't be able to absorb the increases you list though. I'm not sure many people can?

Tortoisehair · 06/03/2025 18:46

The number of social care users has gone up. Adults and children. It’s caused a huge strain on finances.

yoursweetpotatoesarebland · 06/03/2025 18:50

Ours is too - by 5% which I thought wasn’t too bad. We moved here from Somerset which has had some of the highest rises of all the councils due to being on the verge of bankruptcy

TeenLifeMum · 06/03/2025 18:50

7.49% for council but that doesn’t include increases from police/town councils (which aren’t capped) etc. council is basically bankrupt since going unitary, taking all the money from the districts (which were doing well financially) then realising that wasn’t enough so made 500 redundancies (probably more) and have cut loads of services. It’s a shit show - all the cuts but still spending £20k a year on tea and coffee for employees because it’s a hill the CEO will die on (dh doesn’t drink tea or coffee so it’s a sore point).

Microbantime · 06/03/2025 18:52

9.5%. Scotland.

Bryonyberries · 06/03/2025 18:57

£10 a month up although not got the official monthly bill yet, working out from the new yearly info from webpage for my band.

Musicaltheatremum · 06/03/2025 19:00

I'm in Edinburgh, not heard yet.

I think Edinburgh announced 10 days or so ago. 8%.
