Ours is going up by 10%, although it does include water (Scotland). So £409 a month for 10 months. Ouch!

Yes 9 percent. Think il opt to spread payments over 12 months rather than 10 now.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 06/03/2025 19:03

Not officially told but checked the website it's gone up £73.90 a year which is about 4.99%

I'm in Edinburgh, not heard yet.

East Dunbartonshire is the only one not to have made a decision

Upstartled · 06/03/2025 19:06

Our council tax is going up 5% and the water a little over 25%. I'm on a fix with gas and electricity so have dodged that increase. It's all dwarfed by the increases in the shopping bill.

Bbnodollarsign · 06/03/2025 19:11

7% highlands.

CeeJay81 · 06/03/2025 19:11

8.9% here, Powys.

Loveduppenguin · 06/03/2025 19:13

I actually don’t understand how people in England manage this…I’m in Ireland and I know we are taxed a tiny bit more but we have no council tax or water bills to contend with, and our wages are generally more. I actually think I wouldn’t survive if I had those bills too!!

DickEmery · 06/03/2025 18:33

Doesn't everyone's go up every year? Unless they live in SW1.

Do you mean SW11?
I live there 😎 the Greater London part has increased though, but not the Borough part.
Cherry on top: weekly bin collections still!

Mishmashs · 06/03/2025 19:35

I didn’t realise payments could be spread over 12 months, I’ll look into that.

I know Wandsworth is cheap but isn't Westminster the cheapest of all?

It's a proper bloody reverse robin hood tax anyway. Fuckers.

Motheranddaughter · 06/03/2025 19:53

Going up in Scotland by lots mainly because SNP didn’t allow increases in previous years

the80sweregreat · 06/03/2025 19:58

I've always paid mine over 12 months.
Used to be over 10, but that changed when it went up a fair bit a few years ago.

FormerGoth · 06/03/2025 20:00

Labour - giving back to the working classes lol

Vaxtable · 06/03/2025 20:04

One of the biggest cost rises for councils is the new NI bands so they will be paying far more in employer NI. Still never mind, Labour say they won’t be hitting the man on the street! Yeh right

NameChanges123 · 06/03/2025 20:08

I think it's about 5%. I'm pretty pleased with that as it could have been a lot more (water rates have gone up 30%)!

PenguinLover24 · 06/03/2025 20:29

StrongTea · 06/03/2025 18:34

Falkirk up 15.6%

Bet me to it 🤣

JackJarvisEsq · 06/03/2025 20:36

Local councillor has just tweeted to confirm 13% increase for ours

AlleyRose · 06/03/2025 20:56

10%

£273 a month. Shame my salary has only gone up 2.5%.

dothehokeycokey · 06/03/2025 21:12

Not had ct yet but water is up by 40% and we are already the most expensive water area in the uk

Gas/electricy 8%

House and car insurance up by £40 a month between them

Food shopping is shocking 😮

I'm self employed.
My wages to myself will yet again go down as my running costs have gone up as well as my stock going up x3 the cost before February

It's like a loosing fucking battle

Mishmashs · 06/03/2025 21:46

My salary went up 4 % in Jan but no rise in 2024. If only they’d fix the potholes and state of the roads round here with that extra 10% but I know they probably have more important things to spend it on.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 06/03/2025 21:50

9.9%. I'm surprised it wasn't more.

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 06/03/2025 21:51

9%!

TartanMammy · 06/03/2025 21:54

15% Scotland. It's only £4 a week, it's not going to break the bank.

I'd much rather pay a tiny bit extra if it means keeping things like school buses and crossing patrols, swimming pools and services for the vulnerable.

Dromaeosauridae · 06/03/2025 21:56

Wales here, mines going up 10%
