Can't see a thread on this years line up yet but apologies if I've missed it. Another underwhelming year by the looks of it. Might try and catch Scissor Sisters but it's slim pickings for me!

Quite a lot for me...Franz Ferdinand, Neil Young, Wet Leg, Self Esteem, Myles Smith, Blossoms. Kneecap might be interesting!

OohKittens · 06/03/2025 10:48

I cannot wait, it's my twelve year olds second year and he's most excited for the prodigy (and the bootleg Beatles haha).

NooNakedJacuzziness · 06/03/2025 10:51

Ooh Bootleg Beatles I can get onboard with

I say this every year and each year I still enjoy it(from the comfort of my sofa). Didn't think I'd love Fatboy slim as much as I did, when he was on a couple of years ago. Not normally my kind of music. Glad he's back again this year. Daughter will be happy Olivia Rodrigo and Lola Young are on.

Muffintopgalore · 06/03/2025 11:07

The line-ups of recent years kind of show the decimation of the music industry. The 1975 is half decent, but not great, and the fact they’re headlining kind of shows the organisers had a dearth of options

In 2004. Sir Elton John played at Portman Road in Ipswich. I had been at Wilfs school review in Kent and got back to Ipswich by the skin of my teeth to meet my friends.. The Scissor Sisters had supported for the whole of the tour. I got to the information desk and asked them to confirm who the support act was... They told me James Blunt... My response... "Who the bloody hell is James Blunt??!!" I was livid. He wasn't very good either. I felt very cheated. Elton on the other hand was wonderful. My friends husband ejected me into the aisle as I was dancing so much. The next day he reckoned he had got Parkinsons from me jiggling in my seat. Cracked ribs from my elbows and was deaf in his left ear from my whistle!! 🤣 🤣 🤣

Elderflower14 · 06/03/2025 11:14

Bruce is in Europe then... Shame he didn't headline... 😔 😔 😔 😔 😔 😔

NooNakedJacuzziness · 06/03/2025 11:21

@Elderflower14 - I saw Elton at Longleat a few years ago, he's not my favourite but yes he sure puts on a show!

We saw REM at Portman Road the day after the 7/7 bombs in London.
They came to the front of the stage, made a speech about what was happening in London and launched into Everybody Hurts... I was howling.... 😔 😔

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 06/03/2025 14:26

I'm dying to go one day. Maybe next year 😭

I thought that green day would headline and really want to see them live, so glad they're not doing so this year

Love Olivia rodrigo, she's my Taylor swift

Noah kahan, Alanis Morissette, loyle carner

I've never seen anything that the prodigy have done so looking forward to that

I will watch from home with dd(5, almost 6) I'll have cocktails, set up a real beachy vibe and party it up with her. Love festival season, even if I've never been to one 😭🙈

Talkinpeace · 06/03/2025 14:35

There are over 130 stages.
There is ALWAYS something to watch.

The Circus tent has top notch performers 14 hours a day.
Cabaret is the perfect place to while away an afternoon.
Some of the small stages up in the Green Fields have hidden gems
Theatre fields always have surreal things to watch.
Arcadia and the Pier are excellent

The TV coverage does not even scratch the surface of what the festival is actually about.

The tv coverage really should be better

Maddy70 · 06/03/2025 15:09

Libertines are playing and I haven't got tickets ;(

Talkinpeace · 06/03/2025 15:16

@mumofoneAlonebutokay
Personally I wish there was no TV coverage.
Kick out the media luvvies and return it to an event that you have to actually experience.

😭 omg I'd be so sad if they did that

I could never afford tickets and couldn't physically get around a festival - this is how I see the big bands and the smaller/ newer ones

I'm hoping to be able to go one day with my dd though

Don't the bbc send 8 billion people on a jolly each time?

GremlinDolphin4 · 06/03/2025 15:27

I’m going this year for the first time ever (I’m in my 50s!) and I can’t wait! Franz Ferdinand, Wolf Alice and Kae Tempest are up there for me. X

I have a ticket and am going but...this would be so unfair. It's priced as such that so many people could never dream of going.

It's not 1975 (lol) anymore, music should be accessible to everyone.

For what it's worth, I'm hugely disappointed with the lineup but I am buzzing for Deftones, who I was 'banned' from seeing when I was 14 as my mum thought they were devil worshippers.

This!

It seems to be annual discussion about Glastonbury and it's lineup and usually negative in the press and on social media, I suppose those that have never been don't understand how vast it is and how special it is, there is so much to discover, I've been 8 times and still haven't covered it all. Also agree, we definitely don't need more TV coverage it only encourages bucket listers... (and makes it harder for me to get tickets ;) ) Edit my tongue is in cheek, I think almost anyone would enjoy Glastonbury and everyone should have an equal chance of going.

Gosh I was there too and remember that very moment.

Also REM reunion could happen. It needs to!

Talkinpeace · 06/03/2025 16:38

I first went in 1985 - the year of the mud.
I went several times in the 80's and 90's then stopped due to the tent slashing.
Went back in 2019 and it has changed a lot.
I genuinely do not think the wall to wall TV coverage of the main stages is a benefit.

RebeccaDecember · 06/03/2025 16:40

My Glastonbury days are behind me but I do enjoy watching it on tv.

Supergrass should be much higher up the bill then they are!!

😄 I was a teenager when people reckoned that beyonce and jay z were devil worshippers, complely understand you wanting to see them

Yeah i wouldn't be able to see these acts otherwise and me and dd love it, huge part of the summer
