Can't see a thread on this years line up yet but apologies if I've missed it. Another underwhelming year by the looks of it. Might try and catch Scissor Sisters but it's slim pickings for me!

@mumofoneAlonebutokay

There's 4 x as many people there for starters!

There was no electronic/dance/rap type music when I went except in a single fringe tent late at night

Talkinpeace · 06/03/2025 16:47

@mumofoneAlonebutokay
Its HUGE - over a mile side to side.
The night club areas like arcadia and Shangrila are an entirely different scene than the Green Fields let alone the main stages.

luckily teh Cider Bus is in the same place as it always was.

minnienono · 06/03/2025 16:49

I'm not bothering despite being close enough to pop home to sleep if i wanted because i refuse to buy tickets without knowing the line up. I know like 1975, Blossoms and Olivier Rodrigos seemed good when I watch her on tv but the faff to get tickets and insufficient showers puts me off - I'm sticking to folk these days, staying in a hotelGrin

I don't understand, do they? 🙈😄

they send a ton of people every year. seems like most of the BBC decamps there! (was rsponding to someone saying tv coverage should be more)

the80sweregreat · 06/03/2025 18:01

I watch on tv and I like some of the lineup. It's nice seeing people having fun.
No way could I put up with so many people, so it's good it's on and I can watch from the comfort of my own home with a cup of tea.

RedRiverShore5 · 06/03/2025 18:21

I like Neil Young, I'm old... I'm not going though, DS is, he goes most years and is not interested in Neil Young, I wonder if he will allow to be televised. I will also watch Rod Stewart on TV

IHadaMarvelousTimeRuiningEverything · 06/03/2025 18:27

I registered for tickets but never ended up trying for them. I'm a massive Swiftie so was fearful she'd headline and I wouldn't be there so that's a relief.

I'd like to see the 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Gracie Abrams out of that line up. The Prodigy would also be pretty good to see live.

the80sweregreat · 06/03/2025 18:31

Rod should be good for a bit of a sing along
I like the Blossoms and Supergrass ( who were brilliant last time they were there )

AuntieMarys · 06/03/2025 10:43

Quite a lot for me...Franz Ferdinand, Neil Young, Wet Leg, Self Esteem, Myles Smith, Blossoms. Kneecap might be interesting!

Love these Wet Leg, Self Esteem, Kneecap

LlynTegid · 06/03/2025 20:19

Hope those who go enjoy it, can't say there is much for me. Perhaps Amyl and the Sniffers, though they are well down the bill.

The line-ups of recent years kind of show the decimation of the music industry. The 1975 is half decent, but not great, and the fact they’re headlining kind of shows the organisers had a dearth of options

Really surprised to read this. I would've thought the 1975 would have headlined before but it clashed with their tours. They are massively popular. I can't wait to see a whole field full of people crying along to "About You". Well, maybe not actually crying LOL.

I think the lineup is great. I couldn't go to a festival now if you paid me, but I think this will be a fantastic one to watch on TV. Loads of great acts.

Talkinpeace · 06/03/2025 20:27

a) Glastonbury do not 'pay' performers.
Even people like the Foo Fighters only get around £10k
The vast, vast bulk of performers are doing it for free tickets only.

b) The TV stages are NOT where the real festival happens.

c) Tickets sell out six months before the acts are announced.

d) Around a quarter of all attendees are working / performing so do not pay for their tickets

Glastonbury is NOT what the BBC portray.

Whatanidiot123 · 06/03/2025 20:41

The line up looks pretty good to me but then I’ve never been one for the headliners at Glastonbury - the best of the festival is generally happening well away from the Pyramid Stage!

TBH, I think my Glastonbury days are behind me, although never say never, but after too many muddy and wet ones, I’ve not been for many years. Even back then, the clientele was really changing and the vibe felt very different and not in a good way.

We love Green Man and End of the Road as alternatives. The crowds are generally absolutely lovely for starters and they are more relaxed.

welshweasel · 06/03/2025 20:54

I am totally made up by the line up! I won't be doing a pyramid headliner for the first time ever but there are so many other bands I want to see. Suspect there will be a lot of difficult decisions to make!

Just heard Nile Rodgers is playing. He puts on a great show 😃

He will show up as a guest for at least 12 other acts while he's there😁

There are over 130 stages.
There is ALWAYS something to watch.

The Circus tent has top notch performers 14 hours a day.
Cabaret is the perfect place to while away an afternoon.
Some of the small stages up in the Green Fields have hidden gems
Theatre fields always have surreal things to watch.
Arcadia and the Pier are excellent

The TV coverage does not even scratch the surface of what the festival is actually about.

We spend so much time in the circus field, there’s so many fantastic acts.

I also just love mooching around, sometimes you catch things that are so unhinged and wonderful and that’s what I love about Glastonbury.

Nile Rodgers is absolutely bloody amazing. The best live act I have ever seen!!

I went to watch Nile Rodger’s and Chic a couple of years ago last minute and it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to. Really unexpected but the atmosphere was so wholesome and just good vibes.

I’ll definitely be watching him this year.

Still dying to experience it just once

Oh 😄 its true though, all the radio 1 presenters seem to be there

wonderstuff · 06/03/2025 22:54

i loved going to Glastonbury when I was younger. The BBC coverage has made it much more difficult to get tickets and I don’t think really shows what the festival is like. It can’t really. You could go and not see any music and have a great weekend.

Id love to go again, last time I tried I didn’t even make it into the queue before it sold out!

RedRiverShore5 · 07/03/2025 05:42

DS manages to get tickets nearly every year and mainly goes to see the smaller bands. I went once in 1984, Elvis Costello, The Smiths and Joan Baez played iirc, I guess its a lot different now, I think it cost about £13 for the tickets, I went on a coach from the local travel agent.

Talkinpeace · 07/03/2025 20:35

Presumably he works ?
I know people who do their three shifts every year
and thus get to see the whole shebang
