What do other people do that you find utterly gross?

For me it's when people gargle, spit, or brush their teeth in the kitchen sink.
You don't often touch the bottom of the bathroom sink, but with the kitchen sink you touch it constantly and wash dishes in there.

Hairs in the plug hole. Or anywhere unless attached to a head.

BountifulPantry · 04/03/2025 21:02

Someone clipped their finger nails on the bus. That really got me.

Louise121806 · 04/03/2025 21:06

Blowing their nose whilst others are eating.

DistressedDamson · 04/03/2025 21:06

I remember once taking part in a therapy group, all sitting in a circle. There was a woman who had some kind of flaky skin condition, poor love it was probably awful to live with and, other than think ‘poor love that must be horrible to live’ with, I genuinely wouldn't have batted an eyelid about it and wouldn’t even remember her now (this was about 15 years ago). EXCEPT she proceeded to sit through the entire group peeling skin off her face and hands and gathering it in the edge of her skirt, the way one might collect apples. Honestly, by the end of the 90 mins there was a great pile of skin heaped in the fold of her skirt. To this day it makes me feel 🤢🤢🤮whenever I’m reminded of it. Usually when a subject like this thread comes up!

That fake gagging noise when they don't like something. When did it become a thing grown adults do?! And not washing their hands after using the toilet.

MermaidMummy06 · 04/03/2025 21:08

No deodorant. Its hot here & the putrid stink can be like something died.

Spitting, especially when they make that horrible throat clearing noise.

People who don't look after their hair. (I've a colleauge whose hair is greasy, dandruffy & janked back without brushing. She often speaks to clients f2f as well. It's gross & unprofessional. Just doesn't care.)

Saw something tonight that shocked me...
Getting fish and chips from the local chippy, the woman packing it up got a carrier bag and to moisten her fingers to open the bag shook a bit of vinegar on her hand! That made me feel a bit Confused

I'd much rather this than her lick her fingers though 😆

theparticley · 04/03/2025 21:16

Of all those mentioned the hawking / spitting on the street and the blowing nose on restaurant napkins are up there (have also witnessed this, absolutely disgusting). The most repulsive thing I’ve seen of late though was a man blowing his nose on to the street. No tissue, just covering one nostril and blowing it all over the pavement. I was nearly sick. Horrifying that there are so many people with so little regard for basic human decency these days.

NippyNinjaCrab · 04/03/2025 21:18

When people have egg white like saliva at the corners of their mouths when speaking to me urgh 😑 gross. Even the word hoiking used above is making me boke 🤢
Anyone with guttural sounds when they talk, stop it!!

TheIceBear · 04/03/2025 21:19

I was on a flight once and the girl in front put her seat right back as far as it could go for the entire flight. She kept flicking her long ponytail and it would whack me across the face randomly throughout the flight which was long haul. I had to ask her to raise the seat during dinner. Such an invasion of personal space , it was horrific.

Dustmylemonlies · 04/03/2025 21:20

Eat whilst walking down the street. I can't bear it, especially if it's something messy or greasy like a piece of chicken 🍗

I wash dishes in the washing up bowl not directly in the sink. But I also don't spit in the sink.

Kissing wet mouths

joose · 04/03/2025 21:30

vaping and smoking.

Keeping pets indoors, especially letting cats on kitchen surfaces, or cats or dogs in your bed. Putting pets’ dishes in the dishwasher.

Aww love cuddling up in bed with my cat!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 04/03/2025 19:33

ewwww
lots of mine already on here,
eating meat
sniffing
having bare feet without nail polish on your toes (female)
having bare feet (male)
wearing shoes in the house
leaving dirty dishes in water for hours

You should talk to someone x

Hock a loogie right in front of you in public 🤢

🤮

Noodge · 04/03/2025 20:30

I feel the same way as this, but about men.

Exactly this. Why would you share a bed with a big hairy sweaty-arsed bloke and not a nice clean little cat?

TheFirstTimeEverISawYourFace · 04/03/2025 21:36

MyUmberSeal · 04/03/2025 18:16

I’m pretty low maintenance and can cope with most things people do. However, I was sharing a tent with my best mate at Glastonbury years ago, I could hear a shuffling around so unzipped my part of the tent to see what she was doing and she was pooing into a plastic pint glass as she couldn’t be bothered to go to the long-drops. I’ve still not recovered from her level of scuzziness, she’s still my best mate though 😂.

OMFG

Suppose she could have spat on them eh

DiscoDown18 · 04/03/2025 21:44

It's not the spitting in the sink (bathroom or kitchen) after cleaning your teeth that gets me but not rinsing it after spitting is grim.

Meadowflower2023 · 04/03/2025 22:00

I would imagine this isn't a popular thing but anyway, it disgusts me.... people who brush their hair in the kitchen. I had a friend stay over (a few times) she would come down in the morning and while we stood chatting with a brew she brushed her long hair in the kitchen, pulling the long loose ones away...I get that people shed and there will always be the odd hair on the floor (I hoover every day btw) but other peoples hair on my kitchen floor and possibly worktops, no just no. 🤢

Username10099 · 04/03/2025 22:11

Neighbour man, elderly, holds his finger to the side of one nostril, leans forward a bit, and blows the contents of the other nostril to the ground.
I always seem to be looking at him just as he does that, makes me feel ill 🤧🤢

GrandHighPoohbah · 04/03/2025 22:15

People yawning without covering their mouth.

People who don't do laundry often enough and smell of stale clothing.

Tiredforfive45 · 05/03/2025 13:34

greengreyblue · 04/03/2025 19:26

We shower in the morning. All very clean and normal people.

Yep. I know it’s common and normal. As long as you’re not in my bed, crack on. I was very specific about it being my DH doing it that bothers me.
