I've won a prize on the National Lottery!!

Just checked my emails and there is one this evening from the National Lottery to say that I've won a prize! It says I need to log in to my account to see what my prize is. I've just tried to login but because it's 4.30am, the system is down due to updating.

I could be a millionaire! Or I might have won a fiver?

DH and I have all our savings in Premium Bonds. We usually get a few wins every month. £25 last month, £250 in January, handy after spending on Christmas. Once a few years ago we got £1000. And there’s always the chance of a million pounds!

You don’t have the cost of buying tickets, and your money is safe in National Savings and Investments. Well worth buying a few. I like having a flutter that doesn’t cost anything!

This is why I love premium bonds - gambling for people who don’t like loosing money!

A young relative won £10K on the premium bonds. He was very lucky!
My young adult kids love it when they win, most has been £500 (DD a year or so ago). However, if you look at MSE site they do say they're not a particularly good investment compared to ISAs etc.
It's more the excitement of winning than the value of the odds of winning compared to high interest savings accounts.

Haha! Congrats on the £30!

I remember years ago getting that email... I'd won £7. So you did well!

I play the lottery online and have used the same numbers for almost 20 years which means there's no way I can stop. Am trapped 🙄 but have only ever played one line twice weekly. At first it was £1 then in 2013 they doubled the price of a ticket. No problem there. I've never given in to temptation with all the new tickets so spend hardly anything. Quite a few prizes of free lucky dips and £30 wins which I just leave there to pay for future tickets. My BIG win was £130 last year 😄 so I withdrew £100 and bought some nice cushions 🥳

they really need to change the wording to you have won either a small prize, medium, big or jackpot! I used to get excited but now Im super laid back when j see the you have won a prize email ..... I can't imagine how exciting it must be for those lucky few that win big!

Just out of interest, has anyone won over say £100k on the national lottery having played using the app? If so I am interested if it gives a different message in the “You have won a prize” email? Something like “Call the hotline immediately” so if i ever see such a message i would know i’ve won big!

Omg!!! I've won £30 !! Sorry no £1000 gifts for anyone but that's the most money I have won in years 😂

I now work in a supermarket, and we have a lottery terminal - that’s a good payout! The usual is a free lucky dip or, if you’re really lucky, a cash prize of £2.80!

Does anyone remember 'The pools' ?! I vaguely remember as a kid in the 80's 'the pools man' would come every weekend. My mum would tick some boxes on a slip and give him some change and then wait to see if we won a prize. I had no idea what it was all about.... but it seemed very important that we didn't miss his visit and always had the money and the slip ready for him 🤷‍♀️

I’d suggest reinvesting it wisely… into 15 more lottery tickets 😂 That way, you’ll either double your fortune or be the proud owner of an expensive recycling pile. 💸🍀”
