Good Morning Everyone! What are you all doing today?

Good morning from Newcastle! I'm currently drinking my first cuppa of the day, made by dd1, in bed in a Travelodge. It's not as peaceful as usual but not a bad way to start the day 😊. I'll jump up and shower when dd's done in there.

We were here for a tiny tiny gig last night & plan to spend the day wandering. Dd1 wants to visit Sephora & Primark. I'm not really sure where we're wandering to if anyone has any suggestions? We were planning to visit Durham but trains are not stopping there & I don't think I cba to spend an hour of the day on rail replacement buses 🤔

Dd2 stayed at home with their dad & didn't want to do anything with the day when I asked her what their plans were last night 🤷‍♀️. I did suggest maybe they wander to Lidl for pancake toppings - we'll see!

Just after tea time ish train home for us & it'll probably be cuppa and bed for me 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Lovely & sunny again here in Cornwall. Not much planned for today. I do need to pop to the chemist at some point. Have unloaded & loaded the dishwasher & the washing machine is being treated to a drum clean. Out tonight with friends I haven’t seen for ages to see a show. Meeting for coffee/tea & cake first. DH planning to go for a bike ride this aft. He’s off to work for a couple of hours in a few mins. DD16 is lurking in her room as per. She’s waiting to hear if her friend is able to stay over. Will catch up with BGT if I’m not too sleepy when I get home. Have a lovely Saturday all 🙂

ssd · 01/03/2025 10:36

I'm still feeling a bit yuk, this flu virus thingy is brutal.

Natsku · 01/03/2025 10:37

My brother is visiting, first time he's been in my country for about 15 years. We're going to walk up the "mountain" (steep hill, but its called mountain for some reason)with my children to go to the wine lodge for tobogganing and hot chocolate and maybe wine, then back home for sauna. Will take my brother out to experience the local 'nightlife' tonight - hopefully there'll be more than a handful of people out!

Right now I'm drinking tea, DS is playing minecraft, DD is still asleep but I will wake her soon, and OH is playing computer games.

frozendaisy · 01/03/2025 10:55

Good morning Newcastle and all!

I have just got to the bottom of the mystery of the missing delivered board game our eldest ordered "all by himself" online and it seems put our postcode in but for some reason it has his school as the delivery address and we have no idea whose phone number is on the order "because it isn't his", so I am just checking with company if school have returned to sender before I go into his school on Monday to have an embarrassing conversation (I mean he's sitting GCSEs in a matter of weeks!)

Second lot of washing about to be hung out.

Brunch is prepped will start cooking once the other two are back,

Taking Grandma to theatre this evening so that should be fun, intention is to go early and grab a bite to eat somewhere that takes our fancy when we get there.

So I feel like I am on fire this morning, but will probably run out of steam by 2pm.

Have a lovely frosty but SUNNY day all.

AdoraBell · 01/03/2025 10:57

Dropped DD to work, going out to look at house because DH wants to move and having lunch in a pub.

TealOP · 01/03/2025 10:57

Just having a cuppa and waiting for the kids to get up and ready having had a late night. DS came back from uni last night so looking forward to a weekend with him. Woke up to a sparking kitchen with all the dishes done and put away which was a lovely surprise. I’d been delayed waiting for his train to get in after dinner and he sorted it all after I went to bed.

He’s off with friends this afternoon and DD and I are going out for a walk in the sunshine.

I’d agree that if you want a wander in the town centre, head down Grey St to the Quayside. Some markets and independent shops to explore and plenty of places to eat and drink. Jesmond Dene is also lovely if you fancy more of a forest walk with a lake etc.

OneLilacEagle · 01/03/2025 10:59

Morning all! Quite a nice bright start to the day today. It's definitely a day for finding reasons to be cheerful! Having my second cup of coffee whilst blasting random bits of classical music at DS. DH is dumping our old oven as the door smashed. He's off next week to crack on with our renovations so I don't need to be too on top of things today and tomorrow. DS wants to go to a nearby playground as he has some Delboy-esque idea of selling off his old comics. So that'll no doubt go swimmingly! Might go to the beach after for a hot chocolate. Don't know what to have for dinner - in a food rut right now.

CliveNextDoor · 01/03/2025 11:06

Good morning MN and the Saturday crowd.

Definitely NOT sunny here in my corner of Scotland! Very dreich.

I'm still in bed, a very very lazy morning but about to get up now. Lovely wife brought me coffee and yogurt in bed before she took the dogs out. I've just attempted to wake up my son who is flying home tonight- I'm really going to miss having him around, but not the multiple wake ups needed every morning!

So will have a shower, get the packing done (we've done so much shopping that we had to buy an extra cabin bag!), then get off to the airport.

We're going to see Bridget Jones tonight to cheer ourselves up, which I'm looking forward to.

Rainbow1235 · 01/03/2025 11:06

Good morning to u all do u mind if I join u on your weekend threads . It’s a lovely day here in south wales so after I’ve blitzed the bombsite which is currently my house we are planning to go the beach and will take my 5 year old grandson . He’s calls it the beachside 😂. Have a lovely day everyone x

RaraRachael · 01/03/2025 11:14

Good morning from sunny NE Scotland.

On my own today as OH is away visiting his mum. Spending the morning cleaning - jobs I'd put off for far too long and don't have an excuse to postpone any longer.
In the afternoon I'll probably go for a doggie walk along the beach then I've got some leftover Indian takeaway for dinner so nothing to cook. Will fit in a video call to wee grandson at some point too.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

zingally · 01/03/2025 11:16

It's a lovely sunny day here.
Absolutely no plans for today. I've just this morning taken my final dose of antibiotics for cystitis.

I'm not one for water-work problems AT ALL, so when I had a bit of bladder discomfort last Sunday afternoon, I didn't really think anything of it - bodies are weird sometimes.
Felt okay until Tuesday-into-Wednesday night when I had more pain and I think a low fever. Did a bit of googling and had all the symptoms of cystitis. Managed to get a 3-day course of drugs from the Boots online doctor service - £23, but far easier than taking time off work to get an actual doctors appointment.

Felt loads better after just a single dose, but got home from work yesterday absolutely exhausted. Ended up having a 2 hour nap on the sofa. I think it all just caught up with me.

Hence today having a very quiet, slow day. Absolutely nothing planned. No cleaning, nothing. Will probably "watch" some films, and nap.

Tomorrow I need to give the lounge a good going-over. We're getting a new settee delivered on Monday, so I need to move some stuff around and give the carpet a good old hoover. The hard floors in the hall and kitchen badly need a mop as well. Might do it twice, depending how they come up after the first go!
The dishwasher is also due it's 3-monthly deep clean.
But that's all for tomorrows me to deal with. Today is all about recovery and rest.

Sourisblanche · 01/03/2025 11:19

@Toothicktounderstand that sounds terribleSad

Just back from a short walk around foggy London with ddog. I need to fit in a workout later because that walk was not enough to counter the effects of a lunch out in central London yesterday.

Will finish watching The Imitation Game this afternoon with dd, she’s into all things maths atm.

Dinner is Camargue red rice with feta and rocket, which is less posh than it sounds, an old Delia recipe! Happy Saturday everyone.

fourelementary · 01/03/2025 11:23

Stressing mostly about illnesses in the family… doing some moving around of furniture and generally feeling a bit blah and sorry for myself. Perimenopause likely culprit as rationally I know life isn’t bad at all- but right now it feels like it. Want to just go back to bed but that’s sadly not an option.

gingercat02 · 01/03/2025 11:24

Welcome to the Toon @lucysmam
Hope you have a lovely day. At least the sun is shining.
I have been to have my hair done, which is like a lovely day out, we have known each other for 20 years, so we always have a good gossip. And they have excellent coffee.
I'm just waiting for my Morrisons delivery and a bit of gardening after lunch.
There are no plans for this evening, DS is off to a 90s night, so just me and DH on the sofa ❤️

gingercat02 · 01/03/2025 11:31

Forgot recommendations.
Blakes on Grey Steet www.blakescafes.com/ is good for lunch, or Olive and Bean www.oliveandbean.co.uk/ on Clayton Street
There is a big TK Maxx, I'd you can be bothered with that.
It's a beautiful day, so I would walk down to the Quayside and have a mooch there. The Glasshouse music venue and the Baltic Gallery on the Gateshead side are nice, and yo7 can walk over the Millennium Bridge. I think it still opens every day at noon, so it might be too late to get there. Loads of bars and restaurants down there, too.

dontforgetme · 01/03/2025 11:45

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

It's beautiful where I am, have just cleaned the kitchen with the back doors wide open. So nice to feel the sun on my face!

Dp and I are off out this afternoon/tonight, kids staying with their cousins. If it stays like this it might just be our first pub garden pint of the year. Love this cold yet sunny weather.

Have lovely Saturdays all.

twistyizzy · 01/03/2025 11:48

Horses going out 24/7 from tomorrow so spent 4 hours digging out a full bed and spring cleaning the stable and feedroom.
Will bath tonight and clip tomorrow morning to get rid of winter coat then he is good to go!
Knackered my back up doing all of that so currently laid on bedroom floor 😩

VelvetUndergrounds · 01/03/2025 11:57

It’s a gloriously sunny day where I am however I’m still in my dressing gown on the sofa, chilling with my dog, whilst the Robot Hoover is hard at work. Have to dye my hair in a bit so am basically putting that off and procrastinating. Out for dinner this evening at a nice restaurant so am having a leisurely morning 🙂

Crimblecrumble5 · 01/03/2025 11:59

Good morning Lucysmam and everyone, it's also sunny here, hooray! So far this morning I've done 2 loads of laundry, taken eldest out to the park, cooked lunch (Jamie's magic rice - it's on the oven now) and hoovered the house.
We are off out to the nearest city for a mooch and to pay a cheque in that youngest received for their birthday. No where local to pay cheques in.
Later we have family coming round, the girls are going out to a fundraiser quiz and the boys are staying in with ciders.
Happy weekend all 😊

Nonstopnoise · 01/03/2025 12:03

Good morning from Vietnam! Sitting at the airport - inevitably the flight is delayed waiting to fly home. Hoping it’s about warmer there than when we left two weeks ago!

Enigma52 · 01/03/2025 12:04

Afternoon!
Recovering from chemo 1/6 here.

I have a list of 5 jobs in the house that I want to achieve ( that's between naps!)

The sun is shining, DP is out on a car event, DS is at work, DD at uni, so it's me, slowly pottering.

Enjoy the weekend 😊🌼

Susiesue61 · 01/03/2025 12:12

Stil in bed here after a busy week at work and a seriously mad day yesterday!! Going out to meet a friend for a walk, hoping to clear both our heads 😊 Then DH is out so just me and DD for tea and some wine

DilemmaDelilah · 01/03/2025 12:16

Good morning @lucysmam , you were early today! I woke up with a very runny nose yesterday, which has rapidly progressed to the bunged up stage today, so I'm not planning on doing anything. Mr Dilemma is going to Sainsbury's in a bit - our very elderly cat has now decided she only likes the cat food that comes in a pyramid shape and as she is getting thinner and thinner I'm not going to deny her what she really likes. She has been on medication for her arthritis for about 5 years and she now has an overactive thyroid. She's about 18 years old so we know we won't have her for much longer, but she might as well enjoy the life she has.

I spoke to my oncologist on Thursday, who is supporting my application for early retirement on ill health grounds, which is great! It means I will be able to get all of my NHS pension which, with our savings, should tide us over until I get my state pension in July 2027.

My sister had her lumpectomy yesterday. It wasn't all plain sailing for her unfortunately so she ended up needing to stay in overnight. I was sent home on the same day when I had my mastectomy and axillary clearance, but although it's a much bigger operation there were no complications. My other sister and I were texting back and forth all afternoon for updates.

I may get around to some knitting/crocheting later on - I may not. I'm not feeling very motivated at present. Really REALLY looking forward to retiring! I had a fleeting thought about swimming tomorrow instead of on Monday, but I know I won't be well enough tomorrow and, to be honest, I may still not be well enough on Monday. Mr Dilemma is encouraging me to take time off sick if I'm still not well on Tuesday - I have worked for my NHS Trust for nearly 26 years only taking time off sick if I couldn't stand up - so I think I can now consider taking a few days sick leave if I feel unwell justified.

offmynut · 01/03/2025 12:58

Chilling with youtube today no chores to do no one coming over bliss.
I may have a nap later watch the jungle book cartoon the original one.
Have noddles and chopped pork bacon on it mug of coffee and chill some more.
Did get my new mop and bucket delivered this-morning so might try that out while blasting too sweet hozier out to piss the neighbours off sounds like a plan if that dont work i`ll try the spice girls.😁
