Found wet towels outside

I found wet towels outside in my yard. Probably there for nearly a week.

Any idea what is the best way to wash them?

Would a 40 degree wash do or should I put it on a hotter wash and longer cycle?

Or should I trash them?

I'd happily put the on a 60 wash.

BobbyBiscuits · 27/02/2025 19:16

You found them? Are they yours? How do you know they've been there that long and if so why not move them before?
I'd throw them away tbh.

Bin

60c or 90c wash with some vanish!
They'll be fine unless they're really stained

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 27/02/2025 19:18

60 degrees. They might not be white any more though!

How do you know what colour they are?

Completelyjo · 27/02/2025 19:21

What do you mean “found them”?

BoudiccaRising · 27/02/2025 19:22

Don’t bin them, what a waste. Hot wash, done.

Edited to say unless they’re not yours, in which case bin those fuckers 😆

They are my towels. I never knew they were there and I only walked around the yard this evening and found them. There was a water fight last week.

Would 90 be too hot and too much? Or would a 60 wash be good?

Maybe a long 60 wash over night?

OP posts:
BoudiccaRising · 27/02/2025 19:26

I’d do 60 and see how they are.

Featherpink · 27/02/2025 19:26

I never knew there were wet towels outside until I found them. They are likely there since last Friday night

I'd probably rinse them in a bucket first to get off any leaves etc. If I wasn't bothered about destroying them, throw in a bit of bleach. Else I'd wash them at 60 and see what they look like.

Andsoitbeganagain · 27/02/2025 19:34

All my towels are washed at 90 every week. Along with bedding and TTowels. They will be fine.

reluctantbrit · 27/02/2025 19:35

As hot as your machine does. Bio powder, Vanish and a laundry desinfection.

caffelattetogo · 27/02/2025 19:37

Hot wash and they'll be fine.

bloodredfeaturewall · 27/02/2025 19:38

if they are really dirty I would do a cold short wash first and then at 60.

unless you need the anything surgically clean 60 is hot enough.

Foxylass · 27/02/2025 19:38

Are they full of slugs?

Marylou2 · 27/02/2025 19:41

Hottest wash with Vanish/bio liquid. If they're not fine then off to the local animal shelter. They always need towels.

Noranydroptodrink · 27/02/2025 19:42

90 or 75 or 60 with laundry disinfectant.

Dirt is fine, it's the thought of rats investigating them...

90! 😮 All those get washed at 40 in my house.

namethisbird · 27/02/2025 19:42

Bin them.

Wonderfulstuff · 27/02/2025 19:50

If you're using bio and a hot wash you really don't need other laundry products. A bio powder, ideally Ariel, has the best cleaning performance.

Personally, I'd give them a wash and see how they come up before just chucking.

Velmy · 27/02/2025 19:50

They'd be in the bin faster than Oscar the Grouch 😅
