I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, after a dreadful night's sleep (thanks menopause 🙄). Both kittens are wandering round this morning so we'll play when I've drunk my cuppa.

Our only plans for today are washing the towels, conquering washing up mountain, and making more bracelets for Gracie Abrams in Leeds. We all need to get ready for back to school and college tomorrow too 😥 . I have a million things to take so will get them all out later on.

This evening will be early showers all round, followed by early nights all round, ready for getting up tomorrow 💤. I'll probably have an hour or two with my book before bed.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. After a beautiful day yesterday it’s now very windy & wet here in Cornwall. Working soon so clock watching. On my 2nd cuppa (had the first one in bed with DH) & have had 2 multi pack Picnics. Oh & a cold sausage! Healthy breakfast! Might unload/load the dishwasher before I go. Poor DH has to go out in this weather to clean out the bunnies. DD16 hasn’t emerged yet. She came down in the middle of the night to make food & most of it is left - such a waste. Her eating is very disordered atm. DH & I are having pie, mash & broccoli tonight (Pieminister ones with chicken & portobello/chestnut mushrooms). Looking forward to Call The Midwife & may watch more episodes of New Amsterdam which we started recently.

Teenagers despatched to town, youngest having a friend over shortly. I need to look at someone's research proposal and can't quite face it. It's sunny out, maybe a walk will help.

UnderHisEeyore · 23/02/2025 11:28

Bad sleep here, too, thanks to foxes mating loudly outside - get a room!

Done dog walk and realised a cheeky mouse has been nibbling through the bags of dog treats, so I am having a tea whilst I decide the best course of action.

Last day of the school holidays and kids have realised they hadn’t done any homework so I’ll be spending the day doing laundry and admin while supervising.
MIL has just left after spending the week here so I’m not complaining though, I’m folding clothes with a mug of coffee, nobody is talking to me - nice.

Attempted to make cheese on toast in the airfryer for breakfast. Toast was OK, cheese ended up round the sides. Why?

Wilful disobedience?😁

Decafflatteplease · 23/02/2025 11:36

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Blowing a gale here and very heavy rain.

Ocado just been, they've started this year's stocking of my favourite daffodils, £4.50 so quite expensive but you get 24 stems so alot of flowers. That's my little treat 😁 one of our windows is the original stained glass so I always have flowers in front of it it looks lovely

Also been changing beds. DC are in bed/playing/pottering about depending on ages.

All uniform is already washed for tomorrow so one less job to do. Still need to find bags and shoes etc.

I'm about to pop a lasagne in the slow cooker for dinner, really looking forward to it. And leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

This evening I'm hoping to start a new book in the aforementioned fresh bedding. I've gotten out of the habit of reading the last few weeks as it's so much easier to reach for the iPad or TV when I'm tired. Got a new book on vinted that arrived yesterday is hopefully I'll start that this evening.

Sourisblanche · 23/02/2025 11:42

Morning Lucysmam. Also slept badly but some was self induced, two glasses of rose, and the other was listening to teen been sick with vomiting bug and fetching her some more water.

Have to do compulsory watching of ds’s football match later. Always hoping that the parents behave themselves, hate how shouty some get. These are 14 year olds and volunteer refs!

Don’t know what to do for dinner, with a sick bug going round the household, I don’t want to spend too long cooking nice food in case I’m next! Happy Sunday folks.

UnderHisEeyore · 23/02/2025 11:43

@Gettingbysomehow Maybe you need to use the heel of the bread for curvature purposes? I always leave a bare border (ooh-lala!) around toasties. Practice makes perfect; is it time for round two?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/02/2025 11:49

Slept in, had a quick breakfast, spent most of the morning cleaning up, writing lists of instructions for the teenagers, and fine tuning my suitcases because we leave for Heathrow in a few hours and then flying to the Maldives.

Thislittlekitten · 23/02/2025 12:00

Morning everyone

My part of Scotland is windy and rainy so can’t see us venturing far. DH took the dog out early and picked up a shop so we don’t need to ho
out again until later.

DD is at a friends, DS is with me just watching tv.

Quite tired I stayed up late to finish. Apple Cider Vinegar on netflicks. Was good. A wee nap might feature today.

jazzyrockyblues · 23/02/2025 12:10

Morning/Afternoon all!
It is windy and rainy here, a big difference from yesterday. The sun seems to be trying to come out though.
I’m about to make lunch and then I need to motivate myself to give the house a clean.

letslaughitoff · 23/02/2025 12:25

I got out of bed at 9am got ready for the day nothing to do so just chilling with my sister today.
So far we have made a thread about how some films cringe us out.
How we plan to take over the world at some point in the future.
Now we are thinking what mafia group/gang we would join if the chance ever pops up.
Yes we are very bored today.

zingally · 23/02/2025 12:28

Out at 10 to pop to the local shop to collect a parcel from Evri.
The first lad who looked couldn't find it, but then a second lad went and managed to track it down.
Home and put the dishwasher on. Just sat down with a coffee when the doorbell went. A lady canvassing for Labour in the local elections. Had a short chat with her and took a card about registering for a postal vote.
Next job is to hoover and mop the downstairs! Will make and freeze the sandwiches for the weeks pack-ups. Dinner is lamb steaks and mash. :)

Crimblecrumble5 · 23/02/2025 12:30

Morning Lucysmam and everyone, well afternoon now.
It's lovely to read about your days.
It's a quiet one here. It's windy and rainy outside in the South West. Back to work and school tomorrow, so have spent the morning getting uniforms, bags, PE kits, lunch boxes etc prepared & have cooked lunch which we're about to have. Today it's slow cooker gammon with mash, cauli cheese, cabbage and peas followed by an apricot Xmas pudding which has been lurking in the cupboard tempting me for weeks.
This afternoon will be family time, probably Lego, film and maybe a board or card game. Sunday night showers and trim nails for the children before early bed. I'm going out to a quiz night later on with friends which I'm really looking forward to.
Happy Sunday X

Talonz · 23/02/2025 12:32

I got up at 4am as I could not sleep. Went into the office and with a pot of tea have been on Google Earth looking at some far away places on street level.

They must have some patient drivers operating those camera cars. I have followed what can only be a slow cyclist on a narrow road through several Alpine villages and they are still only 100 years in front. But my goodness some of those rural houses in Austria and Switzerland are so big with so much heavy wood for rooves.

This afternoon I will try to mend my Space Hopper and this evening I will have mackerel for tea. I need to find a recipe that mackerel will like. Oh, the mackerel is the guest not the food.

Zippedydodah · 23/02/2025 12:39

Good afternoon, ‘tis wet and windy here and DH has just got back from a dog walk via the coffee Waggon in the village.
I have tidied the kitchen, done an hour’s drawing, sorted out the wretched broadband by talking to BT - apparently we need to upgrade so I will have a look around.
The wood burner is lit because I am cold, the dog’s sprawled in front of it snoring.
Tikka Masala for dinner with rice and poppadoms.
Nothing planned for the rest of the day.

CyclingAddict · 23/02/2025 12:40

Cycled with daughter first thing
Roast in the bag chicken and jacket potatoes in oven ready for lunch
Had a lovely hot bath with Pete Tong in the background 😉
An afternoon of chatting with family and father-in-law
Knitting 😳
Work at 5pm
Scotch n coke when I finish work later 🥃

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 23/02/2025 13:01

Had a lie in. Having a chilling day as I had my appendix out two weeks ago so I'm trying to get back on my feet and do some stuff every day. I did the food shop yesterday ( with help for the lifting and I drove ) it's blowing a gale and pouring down here so after my bath it's clean jammies and starting my new book. I'm meant to be returning to work tomorrow but I have quite an active on my feet job with 3 year olds so my Dr has signed me off for another week

Gingerwarthog · 23/02/2025 13:12

Went for a long swim early this morning then home for coffee with DH - chat about week ahead.
Puppy tried to get on my knee and as he is 3 stones he is a bit too large.
DD and I have just cleaned and tidied the house while talking about her job applications /possible apprenticeships post A Levels. Clothes sorted for the week. Washing on. DH is out doing food shopping.
DD and DH are going to the gym later.
I will take dog for a (rainy) walk and read more of 'Raising Hare' by Chloe Dalton.
Then DD is making dinner and we'll watch a few episodes of Yellowstone.
Not glamorous but making the most of DD being around as she'll leave home soon and enjoying having everyone around.

Crunchymum · 23/02/2025 13:13

Happy Sunday all.

Late to the party today. Although I'm on such a downer I probably shouldn't even post.

Didn't sleep well at all. Arthritic pain is now accompanied by general leg and calf pain as I've obviously been overcompensating with my bad knee this week and now I'm in even more pain. GP for me tomorrow - if I can get an appointment.

Lazy day for as I just can't physically do much. DC1 will be back from his sleepover soon, DC2 is doing homework and DC3 has every piece of lego we own, out on the living room floor.

DP had to work a half day but I'll be on bed rest when he gets back.

No idea about dinner, will be something from the freezer as I just cannot stand long enough to cook. We have a well stocked freezer so there's a choice of chilli / stew / bolognese / meatballs and sauce. My batch cooking does pay off.

Early night all round and hoping my poxy knee and leg is a bit better tomorrow.

Notgivenuphope · 23/02/2025 13:15

Feeling a bit sad as I would usually go to church but someone was so utterly horrible to me there recently I am feeling too bad to go.
Have gone to shine the plaque on my beloved gran’s bench and sat on it and talked to her for a bit.
I know MN hate religion so not expecting much. Just helps to write it down.

OneLilacEagle · 23/02/2025 13:17

Afternoon all. Have had a fairly productive morning of admin bits and pieces so now sitting down to watch Astrid In Paris. Might prise my DS off screens later to make banoffee muffins but all in all, it's continuing to be a very low key weekend. Weather has been awful, so lots of call out for DH. Oh, well - it pays for our next trip away! Bread and cabbage soup for dinner, to satisfy my inner mediaeval peasant.

Sorry this happened @Notgivenuphope These sorts of things are horrible and can take a while to get over, so be good to yourself, and hope things improve soon. Flowers
